Sooner or later, we are going to have to see the ruined king in game

I don't know if riot will end up doing it as a PvE event or releasing him as a champ, but I feel like sooner or later they are going to have to get him in game for the players to interact with one way or another.

He's the cause of the ruination. The harrowing is because of the shadow isles. Multiple champs either serve him or want to kill him. He's got an item named after him so we know he should be a champ that wants AD, AS, and life steal. Releasing him would allow stories to progress. Even as an event it would be good for him to be in the game, but it'd be better if he was a champ.

I'm kinda of surprised riot hasn't done this already because it seems like it would have a lot of upside for them.

I think the Ruined King is one of those mythic characters that shouldn't ever be a champion in the game. There needs to be some grandiose, mythical beings in the lore that transcend regular levels of legend and myth, and he is one of them. He can appear as some kind of PVE boss like Vilemaw was, but I am wholly against them releasing him as a champion. I think it would greatly reduce his impact on the lore if we can play him.

The fact that he isn't a part of the card game makes me think that riot is also considering to make him a champ eventually, because that way they keep total freedom over his design and could introduce him as a champion without affecting the balance of his card in the cardgame.

The big question would likely be what theme he'd fullfill. He has a sword, but we already have a death knight in the game in the form of Mordekaiser. And we already have a minionmancer with Azir and a Lich with Karthus.

The idea of a PvE would work as a annual harrowing event tbh. It'd be good for displaying the halloween skins as enemy bosses. Using ghostly or zombie like minions as the fodder.

I actually like to think if the ruined king as a massive red herring.

The hero fights their way all the way to the throne only to find it empty and long since abandoned. There is now ultimate evil to vanquish. No method to simply stop the islands corruption.

I think it was already pretty indubitable that we'll get the Ruined King as a champion at some point, but Senna's biography seals the deal. It'll probably be after a little while though; even though Senna isn't directly a Shadow Isles champion, she's way too tied to the Shadow Isles to not be counted with her as a "Shadow Isles addition".

The question is whether we should receive him first or Ledros. I'd assume the Ruined King would be an assassin, given his item and how his blade should look (plus the fact that the Shadow Isles have no assassin yet), and Ledros will probably be a juggernaut fighter, which is especially confirmed by his new Legends of Runeterra art. I want them both in the game, but I have no idea which one should come first. I suppose probably the Ruined King, since he's been built up for a long time.

Put Old Aatrox's playstyle on the Ruined King. Make him a lifestealing melee hypercarry that's aggressive and rewarded for building attack speed. The Ruined King not being able to use his own item would be really dumb imo.

Cool beans

so we know he should be a champ that wants AD, AS, and life steal.

And an activateably slow? Wait... old Aatrox?

I come from the future, there is now a game dedicated to him. A whole Game. Its also by the same people that made darksiders so its gonna be good.

What if instead of game... We will see him in anime? 😲

This is true. When the lore was more incomplete, I had a theory that the Ruined King became depressed after accepting his wife couldn't be brought back in the way he wanted, and that he was being tortured by Morde who was the true ruler of the Isles. Then Morde was migrated to Noxus and I was like "wait, why was the Ruined King never added to the game if he actually is the big bad and it wasn't all an elaborate head fake?"

Hopefully he's coming sooner rather than later. The Shadow Isles has kinda been left behind in terms of new releases in recent years.

I'd actually love for him to be a boss in a PvE event, make him really spooky and larger than life. Give him a massive BoRK. Hecarim and his ghost horsies could fight for him. Have a few parts/stages with some cool dialogue, maybe some "Pre-Ruination" skins to go with the event (like a "Blessed Isles Kalista" could be really cool).

They don't seem super interesting in PvE modes these days though :/. Oh well, one can dream.

Not as a champ.

Ruined king is final boss for the LoL dungeon runner. Probably

MrGerund10/17/2019, 4:41:30 PM1 votes

he should be left for some event and appearances in other games, the card game could maybe use him as some boss opponent in a carreer mode, the rpg as some high level boss, the 2D fighting game also for some carreer mode?
