Gangplank got a Rework! Awesome! But...Why Gangplank?

Gangplank got a rework, sweet, i can't complain its not like i can rework a champion myself, i appreciate what riot does... But... why gangplank? Why gangplank to receive the visual update?

The excuse of his gameplay changing doesnt really work because he received a new ability and passive....thats it..

If you want to use that excuse, the gameplay update for and should have also came with a visual update...

Gangplank wasn't in bad shape, compared to other champions, his animations were OK, and visuals as well, at least when compared to other champions, same thing goes for MissFortune, who only got a minor visual update.

What is done is done, and i can't complain, the only reason i can concoct is because of the new map release, but if riot prioritizes visual updates to game events, instead of prioritizing champions who need it the most, we won't see updated on champions who need it.

Glad you got a visual update gangplank, we're all still waiting for ours :3

(Didn't include poppy in the list because she is next) And again, What is done is done, no way of taking back the gangplank update and hey, it would have had to happen eventually so hats off to riot for another really well done Visual update, I just with they had their priorities a bit more clear.

his gameplay pattern was boring, but it only took replacing one skill and tweaking the rest to add more fun and interaction to him so it was an easy update
Bilgewater event coming up. he is basically THE bilgewater champ
His concept and character were fine, so no need to re-invent him in anyway visually. Improve the model/animations, done.

Gangplank is an update of opportunity. They were already planning a Bilgewater event, his gameplay needed work, but not an overhaul. His concept was solid so he only needed some minor art/model/animation improvements.

Champions like Taric are in need of major gameplay and design updates (he is like a step below poppy in terms of update level iirc) He is already being worked on anyway. A lot of those other champs you listed are either already being looked at for gameplay/visual updates, or are in a decent enough spot that they can wait their turn or until there is a relevant event that would be perfect for them to be released for.

Basically it was a perfect storm for a Gangplank update.

And honestly, it wouldn't matter WHO got the update. No matter which update actually happened people would question why champion X wasn't given one instead. They could have a done a Jax update and people would just wonder why the other champions they wanted to see updated didn't get updated first, hell, GP would probably be on that list.

I don't think Singed, Morde, Veigar or Zilean will be getting an further visual updates any time soon. They recently got worked on, Zilean even had his skills modified and model fixed.

Singed got already an update to his model. Sure he still needs new VFX,Animations and VO,but its not like he didn't get anything yet.

Ryze is confirmed to be in the works(his gameplay update was originally supposed to be released alongside the VU,but the gameplay update got finished faster),Yorick and Urgot are really big reworks that will most likely be done after Poppys rework(I think they already started with urgot even though poppys update isn't finished),in the case of Eve and Taric its been confirmed that their reworks are already in the works,they just take longer.

You can point to this one as a result of the Bilgewater event, but the question does come up a lot when champs who are visually in a decent place seem to be prioritized over the real eyesores. The pizza feet champs are the biggest issue to me. How Taric and Morde are still walking around with those models is beyond me.
