Seriously, they still have the same splashes they did when they were released and all three of them are from the time that just taking a picture of the in game model was considered an acceptable splash.

P.S. I didn't include Poppy here because she's set to get her rework soon and a new splash will come with it.

Warwick's new splash was teased at last year's World's championship tournament. Why they never bother releasing it? We will never know.

Doubt it. He's not part of the rework schedule either. They teased Anivia's new splash around the same time and it took them a full year to release it. They're holding onto it for some unknown reason, along with Irelia's splash that was teased in Europe's LCS.

Warwick was planned for some kind of gameplay update so we might get the new splashart than, Riot has also talked here and there about a gameplay update for Irelia making her more "Will of the Blades"y (altho her current play style is good and enjoyable it dosen't fit her theme the best which is complicated, she also has a large fan base and is a old champion... it is kinda like making a Dark mage Wizard theme for a champion but the playstyle being off yet very enjoyable and unique in its own way, it will be difficult to change) so we might get her one later as well.

Actually I believe they (whoever did the updates a while ago, pretty sure it was Meddler) said he will be right after Taric. Considering the time span that we had on Fiora and GP, the difference in those two was barely two months, if even that long. I doubt it will be too long. I'd be willing to bet 50 gold it's coming in Season 6, at least before the Summer split.

Well Fiora wasn't but GP was pretty big in terms of a rework. 3 new skills out of 5 is pretty intense (the ult is in there because it got a lot of mini changes and junk). Now sure poppy, taric, yorick, and ww are huge reworks too, but they should be relatively close to each other since, from what has been explained, 3 of those are happening simultaneously, with poppy being just around the corner. Maybe a month or 2 span between each one. If thats the case, all of those champions will be done by August next year roughly.

DOn't forget that before they Released Sion's Rework they were simultaneously working on Poppy and Taric.

Trust me it'll be more than a couple months between Poppy's Relaunch and Taric's

fiora was a bigger rework than GP as far as game-play goes. GP has the same kit + a new ability that replaced something that nobody ever cared about and a buff to is ult at the price of a farmbot mechanic. fiora had every ability re-imagined, and her ult entirely replaced.

yorik/poppy/taric are going to be sion level reworks. you wont notice any similarities aside 1 reworked ability and (hopefully) the theme of the characters.

The problem with Yorick is that it's pretty much impossible to maintain his character with an update. Gangplank was always "Yar har I'mma pirate crit everything with my gun!", it was just a matter of making that work.

With yorick... people like summoning ghouls. But they don't want to be able to be in the middle of the fight, too, because that's what Yorick does. But they want the ghouls to stick around, too, like little pets. But they don't want yorick to sit still and channel because he doesn't seem like a traditional necromancer...

Yorick is a dude with a shovel. How the fuck you manage to keep him pretty much the same while also completely reworking him without having any singular "This is what the champion represents" concept is impossible.

Just off the top of my head, Ao Shin and Warwick. Frankly the amount of work they have left to do just to catch up to their current standard is beyond listing, and forever expanding as they continue to raise the standard and produce content. It's taken them 5 years just to start publically talking about their "tech debt" and fixing the spaghetti code.

I'm not excusing the absence of certain updates and such. That does fall on them. All I'm saying is that we have no justification for criticizing the company for something like this if none of us do that job. I'm no programmer, but I do know some stuff; I can code Java and Python to a degree, and tbh, it SUCKS. I dislike it beyond measure when I had to do it in college, and one little mistake in a big system does a lot. And probably why they haven't addressed the "spaghetti code" is because of how people are reacting to it now. People don't want your excuses, they want results. I'm simply arguing that unless you are a programmer or a creative expert for the company, you have no right to tell them how to do their job.

Just be patient. Let them explain themselves. They don't have to do any of this. They've made enough money off of the game to just sit behind closed doors and ignore the game until they decide to shut it down and move on, but that isn't what has happened. I don't think they will return to 20 champs a year or some ridiculous number like that, but they have been true to their word in releasing new content on a regular basis. Maybe not what the fans want the most, but it is still something. I just want the community to put the claws back in the paws and calm the f down. That's all.

Ok, this is a random thing, but I JUST saw an old thread you made 2 years ago about LeBlanc and Swain, and then someone said about matching skins, and suggested Raven Queen LeBlanc; which actually happened with Ravenborn Leblanc.

And I was thinking "Oh wow whoever said that was spot-on!"

Probably because Riot would get accused of being lazy (though now we have chroma skins...)

Also gameplay-wise, too many similar looking matching skins would make it harder to differentiate what champ it is. Maybe.

Plus I guess Riot is generally cautious because 'matching' skins imply some kind of lore connection. Like with the royal Ashe and Trynd skins, or Tango Eve/TF (though them dating wasn't even really that relevant honestly). Which was kinda why I was so happy that Ravenborn LeBlanc became a thing because that made her 'pairing' with Swain official some what (IronStylus even said he wanted Ravenborn to be her new 'base' skin, same with Tyrant Swain. But that messes up on selling the skins and the VUs).

Considering how awful the updated splashes have been for the character portrayed (but oddly, not the splashes for new champions...), let not and please keep the splashes that actually work.

If we have to change some splashes for the sake of changing them, let's change ones that would appreciate it, like Vindicator Vayne.

The reason you feel updated splashes were horrible compared to new champion ones is mainly due to being attached to existing champion being portrayed a certain way. If Fiora was released with her original new art no one would break a sweat.

It has to do with aspects of art and what the goals of character portraits are. For instance, a character's portrait is not just a way to show what the character looks like, but shows aspects of their character. What does Kayle's new splash tell you about her now? Other than that she's is, in that moment, craning her head, suddenly realizing that she has boobs?

You are missing it here. Many of the new splashes wouldn't have the same level of backlash, if any, if they were new champs. Kats new splash may have gotten flack for just being ugly initially, but most of the others were always "Don't change this splash I love" and then they gave reasons why which many always came to how accustomed they were. You can't honestly tell me the new fiora splash would have had any flack if she was a new champ

I think 40% of the characters need a splash art upgrade. This includes champions and some of their skins splash arts.

I mean, they improved Tristana 's splash art for the default skin, but the Riot skin and other splash art for her are ... ugughghh ...

Kill those with summoner 14 but otherwise Riot's doing what they can (least with Poppy's right now)

Eh, I'm not sure what my feelings are about most of those, but Corki definitely needs a VU, much like Tris and Heim, to look more like what they're going for with Yordles.

To properly represent Yordles? Absolutely. To be more visually satisfying? Not necessary. In that respect Corki looks fine.
