@Reaves, @Ghostcrawler, @Meddler, @Riot Karma What Visual Update?
When you relaunched Karma four years ago you decided to remove almost everything players loved about her. The dress Karma wore, her appearance, her fans, and a lot of other things were removed from her character. What you replaced it with is probably an even poorer representation of what you removed from her in the first place.
From Riot Games,
> Karma’s original look had a few shortcomings that we’d like to address for her relaunch. For starters, her aesthetic was hard to read and didn’t really convey much about her character. Her fans, dress and posture didn’t reflect her playstyle or storyline. There was a lot we could change about Karma to bring a more cohesive vision to the character.
Did you address that though? You didn't really do a fantastic job on the visuals, voice over, art, her appearance, her character, really bringing her presence as the Soul of Ionia to life, a fearsome but beautiful presence on the battlefield, the dragons, and more. Everything about her right now is so lackluster to what you promised us four years ago. If you are going to remove something the fans clearly loved, all of you should have done a better job. Here we are 4 years later and you have the animations for her shield, dragons, and more in a file probably saved on one of your computers.
> This new approach to Karma transforms her into a badass conduit of inner strength that brings Ionia’s strength to every battlefield.
It doesn't though. She sits in the back and casts shields on an ally champion, with shield animations and shield casting animations that you haves saved on your hard drives. Your entire approach to Karma was wrong and you should have never removed her fans, dress or changed her so much if you were not going to give us something that looks amazing and is 10x better than what we have. You decided to remove shield bomb, so give us an awesome visual that really captures her lore, art, and theme you promised us with her relaunch.
> The connection between Karmas motif and playstyle was never as clear as it could have been. She didnt have a distinct theme that tied everything together and brought out the badass spiritual leader she is in her lore. > > Ionia is a land that has suffered greatly. The ongoing struggle has taken its toll on Karma's calm, composed demeanor. We wanted to evolve Karma's personality to suit her place in a nation filled with internal strife and awakened ferocity.
You didn't address it and you continue to not address it. She has no personality and all of the visuals are very lackluster.
> Karma can now manifest her inner spirit and willpower as powerful magical energy. With her inner flame she can inspire and protect her allies, damage foes and manipulate the spiritual bonds between those around her. Weve also taken her Ionian ties a step further: her magic springs from the crest of twin dragons in her mantle, literally and figuratively transforming her into a symbol of her homeland. > > The changes weve made have given new life to Karmas title, The Enlightened One. In the past, her title conveyed her serenity and calm. Now, it represents the enlightened path shes found for Ionia: a new path, merging the spiritual traditions of Ionia with the nations newfound strength. > > Finally, we've given Karma new VO that conveys her internal struggle and intensity. Karmas attempting to unite a wounded and divided nation, which is no easy task! We want you to believe shes got the inner strengthand inner flamethat it takes to persevere.
Another example of what you didn't deliver and you probably have saved on some sort of file on your hard drives. Where are the dragons shooting out? Where are the awesome animations? Where is she really showing her enemies and allies that she is the Soul of Ionia.
> Karmas now the powerful Ionian leader she was always meant to be. Through her determination and indomitable spirit, she's set to rebuild Ionia and inspire her people to greatness.
She is a monk that sits in the back and shields players while doing nothing else. There is nothing about her that scream leader, inspiring, beautiful or Soul of Ionia. She sits in the back and shields others. You had the opportunity for the past 4 years to do anything to address the inconsistencies and you decided to give all that time to Ryze and new champions. You had the past four years to make her current visuals 10x better. New champions get art changes, kit changes, lore changes, icon changes, and more. Karma gets a nerf on her shields, that you buffed knowing the real mains did not like it to begin with.
What happened to this?

It's probably sitting in a file on someone's computer rotting while you come up with 6 other kit and art updates for Ryze.
You are aware of all of this for the past four years. You expect players to give you sympathy for it being your "first VGU". The problem is for the past 4 years you have done 0 things to address her problems. You prioritize reworks on new champions and art updates on new champions . . . AND RYZE . . . over work on Karma . . . . or doing things to Ezreal to bring his character to life . . . so many champions get neglected for another rework on LB, another VGU on Ryze, a rework on Reksai who was released two years ago, a rework on A'Sol, and more.
DO YOU CARE? Karma doesn't need a VGU over someone like Morde, Irelia, Pantheon, Nunu and others. She needs you to go into your files and actually implement the art you have saved from four years ago and tweak some things. She doesn't need another relaunch because you already ruined her with the half arse work you did. She needs a small update that you have given to nearly all of the champions who don't necessarily need one in the class updates or new champions.
What did you accomplish with the Malz update last year? You are taking two steps back and basically giving us what we already had before. Start listening to your community and work on the champions that actually need it.
As always, stay frosty.
- Wintertechnics.
have not seen any major relaunches.
So who needs those kind of reworks more? The one who got a bland one,or the one who didn't get one at all?The answer is the one who didn't get one at all, because even though karmas rework was bad,it did help with some of her problems.
multiple times, but do you really think Ryze mains wanted their champ to be reworked over and over and over, imo you should consider yourself lucky Riot only "ruined" you champ once. Based on Riot's record with recent full VGU, if she is listed for a VGU in the future you may see the
that you wish for, full VGU are a much safer bet in terms of reworking champions.
