@Riot just a few questions i wanted to ask about development.

I wanted to ask a few questions to the Riot team about development. I ask these with the understand this is an international company and game, so all the of the choices made have to be taken into account on global scale, but since I find suggesting champions and lore and such very fun, i wondered about a few things.

  1. Most of the champions are derived from what seems to be myth and legend, does the development of champion and lore come before or after the kit and the ideas for gameplay?

  2. what direction do the teams take when looking for inspiration for their next champion.

  3. Going back to being someone who loves suggesting ideas and champions, what is Riot's stance on champion suggestion/creation from players?

4.Would the lore or champion idea ever fully be player inspired, or does Riot prefer to take their own stances on all matters?

  1. Does lore come more from champion design, such as champion style, or from the actual myth of the character. Like Tahm, he is sort of a catfish, and from what i understand there has been a long list or lore surrounding catfish eating people, Did that idea influence the champion or did the kite inspire the champions?

  2. What do you look for in a champion, lore, kite, etc.?

Please and thank you!

Have you read any of their Champion Insights? I think they go into some of the questions you asked.

1.It can go both ways. Sometimes they want to tell a specific story, sometimes they start with a theme, sometimes with an ability, etc. In the end it varies from champ to champ.

2.Judging from their insight posts, they seem to always look at various inspiration at once.

3.&4.They might get inspired by fanmade concepts, but won't take something directly from a fan-concept

the other 1- I think that usually comes during the design process unless they wanted the champ to have some sort of specific role in the lore from the get go(though I think that is rather)

the other 2. I think the most important thing is to make the new champ unique in some aspect.Pretty much every new champion has some sort of new archetype, gameplay mechanic or even position in the lore. They also try to avoid stereotypes.
