The very first line of Pyke's reveal page is;
Abandoned by his crew to the leviathans of the deep, Pyke drowned—but didn’t stay dead.
That was Nautilus' original fate right down to the letter. Was, mind you. Not sure what they have planned for him now.

that is just a line not a whole lore..even if that is kinda a summary of his lore I more then sure that there would be other elements that make his lore different then nauts..
