Everything is the same as before the retcon.

Why do new champs join the league?

Lots don't, summoners just summon them to fight regardless of what they think. Its runeterra's magic plotfilling ability that once your strong enough sometimes you must be called upon to sort things out on the fields of justice.

Done.

That was super hard.

Any plot holes someone can pick out?

Wouldn't that just support the narrative's claim that champions are treated like puppets by Summoners?

I could see one issue. God like champions who wouldn't allow you to summon them if they didn't want it.

Besides that, I think it works.

Out of the game, Influence points are a representation of your summoner's power. Buying a champ means you as the summoner now have the power to wield such a champ.

Or they could just remove the portion that champions have an reason to join the League, and instead treat it as a jury duty type thing.

Tries to bash the lore

Has never actually READ the old lore

Champions that are in the Institute of War are there for their own gain and fame as they become important deciding factors in politics.

Ever wish you could beat an asshole that disagrees with you about a political issue up, this is EXACTLY what they are doing. (GP, Zed, Karma etc.)

Others are of course captured and given the choice of life and death, they tend to choose the first. (Brand, Xerath, Kog'Maw, Kha'Zix)

Others such as Cho'Gath are simply there to see the world burn, and to plant sinister plots that will be the worlds undoing (Karthus, Mordekaiser, Hecarim)

And lastly we have those seeking to prove their worth against the strongest champions in the world ( Jax, Wu, Yi etc. )

Right now we only have a empty shell with shitty and inconsistent background stories.
