Three Kayle Things

With a Kayle/Morg update inching closer, I wanted to say a few things. I don't pretend to be a Kayle main/player, I have only 52 games on her(because I don't enjoy top or mid). So none of this is gameplay related. It is all lore. It's more my requests with her rework thematically:

1: Please don't make her evil Kayle vs Morgana is suppose to be about perspectives. There is not suppose to be a good/evil side of it, but Morg's is suppose to lean more towards grim while Kayle's judgemental. This is fine. But please don't do the A-Typical modern thing and make the apparent 'good' one evil just for the sake of not actually being edgy or unique as everyone else already does it already. Please make sure we are able to take either side with some level of comfort and discomfort that is mostly equal.

2: Please keep her and Morgana 'Angelic' I realize they may not be 'angels' but a lot of us love them because they feel angelic. They have references to the afterlife, a general light vs dark thematic. I want them to be champions I can listen to Globus while playing. I want them to be FRIGHTENING and imposing not because they 'talk' imposing but because of the mere implication of what it is standing before you. Something beyond comprehension that can harm or help you on levels you cannot protect yourself on. Angels are no less a valid mythology/religion than Ninetails, Dragons or Demons and should be included as well.

3: Keep Kayle's taunt in some way I like "Come here, I will teach you all about the afterlife." As much as Shyvana's "Come get a glimpse into the BELLY of the beast." If it wasn't for the fact that I hate top lane I'd probably play Kayle quite a bit. And her imposing and powerful attitude is a big reason why. I love this champions and cannot wait to see her rework.

I agree on the "Don't Make her Evil". Both sides are meant to be shades of grey and such should require people to actually think before they decide are they good or bad. Bad example of this. Caitlyn, purely good, 100%. Good example, WW and Camille, they are a grey area.

What's wrong with Caitlyn being purely good? I know goody-two-shoes characters aren't always interesting, but there need to be definitive good and evil characters. And it is possible to have quality characters who are still purely good and purely evil.

Yes! I'm pretty sure the writers at Rito will do a good work, they have already shown that their thinking-horizons aren't halted by stereotypes. How do you imagine these 2 guys? I would think of Kayle as someone who has internalized and endorsed the "just rules" of some place to an extreme extent. Overly disciplined, and maybe overly judgmental towards whoever has a different philosophy than hers (kinda like the God of the old testament?) (sounds a little too much like demacia though). Morgana on the other hand looks at this place and its rules with strong dissaprovance or disgust and has her own way of thinking of things. Maybe she belongs to a team of insurgents? Anyway I imagine Kayle having won a fight against Morgana in the past, and for that reason she bares a burden, while Morgana is feeling wrath. Both bare a big philosophy to support their ideas.

People go on and on and on about "shades of grey" without understanding the actual meaning of the phrase. It means everything is not clearly %100 good or %100 bad. That DOESN'T mean that everyone is equally good and bad. The only differentiation between shades of grey is that some would be darker and some would be lighter, ERGO SOME ARE LESS GOOD OR MORE GOOD THAN OTHERS.

Why is everyone afraid of actually identifying a bad guy? They exist. Bad guys exist. They exist in real life and they ought not be censored out of all art or literature just because people want to divorce themselves of all narratives involving personal guilt by claiming that nobody is good or bad and everything is a meaningless wash.

Take away Morgana's skirt. I want legs. It looks so weird with her frail arms, giant wings, hanging head as if she can't even hold it upright, super thin torso, and then this giant mass of clothes on her lower half.

I hope they still have the same gameplay where kayle is an apc carry who is very active and relentless in dealing her damage like Azir Cassiopeia Ryze Karthus

Where as Mrogana is more held back and reserved really hanging on her Cooldown. Although I do I hope they don't change her much at all beside giving her a Visual Update.

It is also a nice contrast because their playstyle are like the opposite of one another this way.

I feel like Morgana's current splash and in-game model don't reflect her lore very well. To someone who hasn't read her lore, she just looks like an evil winged witch. She is neither as obsessed with power as Syndra nor consumed by darkness like Varus, yet she looks more of those things than the both of them. I see no trace of her dreams to be free from oppression or inner desire to be united with her family.

That isn't the main focus of her lore though. She's primarily being ostracised because she doesn't share her family's ideals. She isn't purely evil.

Nobody said evil. She is purely obsessed with power and surrendered to darkness however, for the sake of achieving her goals. Often the darkest people are those with good intentions.

That would be done through dialogue and lore not visuals. Good and evil isn't shown by color scheme or thematic design.

"Feel my pain." "I'll have my revenge." "Without mercy." "You too will be judged." "Not all angels are good."

For Morgana I would like to keep her gameplay theme of snaring and the visual a bit brighter and only wings burned or shatered. Kayle on the other hand needs both visual and gameplay wise like poppy where she could keep the ranged basic attack spell and give her some mobility to reflect on morgana where she snares and keeps others in place Kayle could be an enhancer or some sort of thresh lantern where she can transport others

Personally, if Morgana gets an update I'd like it to be at least visual with a VO that exceeds 2 minutes, but I like the Kayle idea

On an unrelated note, why do you hate toplane? If possible, more than one reason? I, for one, love top lane, but most of my friends don't, and they don't play it because it is "cancer". I was just wondering if I could use it in my laning, split pushing, etc.

It is a cesspool of tryhard mains that play top and only top. As it is a 1v1 lane without the safety of mid or a support it ends up with a bunch of mastery emote spamming jerks seeing who can counterpick the better lane bully. Even got MM to say top lane was shit recently, he moved to playing Morde bot lane. Top is where all the jerks with 2m mastery points on Teemo, Darius, Riven or Jayce hang out trying to prove they have the biggest epeen. Nobody can just go top and play a top lane champion for fun.

It's all the Jayce and Darius players who counterpick me EVERY SINGLE TIME I get to play my one top laner.

And yes, I know you can beat Darius with Riven, but if it isn't stressful af... One wrong move is the difference between getting a kill and getting killed. Fail a dodge on Darius E and there goes 90% of your hp. And even if you do beat him in lane, it's like he always comes back and 1v4s your teammates anyway.

i feel you man. Darius is my one ban everytime I play riven top. not cause I cant beat him, but I cant trust my team not to be idiots later. :(

Kayle shouldn't be goody-two-shoes, she should be Lawful Good to an absolute extreme. Like make her ruthlessly into justice, to the point of killing a friend or family member if they do something evil. I want Kayle to be Tyrael.

That's more or less the idea. I want her to take the obsession with justice to an extreme. It would make Kayle technically the good sibling, while also leaving her more morally ambiguous.

Perhaps with the updates, kayle and morg become more supernaturally powerful and cosmic like aurelion sol... with kayle being the cosmic embodiment of demacia and morg the embodiment of noxus?

they basically did that with vayne lore so... story is probably going to be a bit different. Also, kayle TRIES to REDEEM people, only killing them when they refuse every chance at redemption. Otherwise, I agree with you.

You can be a functional jungle or support with her in low elo/normals as long as your general mechanics are ok.

Kayle - "good", order, light, follow the rules, limits on what you can/should do to achieve a goal Morg - "bad", disorder/chaos if it achieves one's goals, diversity/multiple perspectives can be correct, tolerance, misunderstood I don't want them as grey as camille. Not entirely black/white issue, but more about rules and there being ONE correct way vs diversity/multiple correct perspectives and challenging the established rules/order.

Also, I think it could be a really good selling point if they kept this in mind and keep the angelic appearance. Then they could have a "before-the-fall/angelic morgana" and "demonic/dark kayle" skin to go with the updates.

I don't play much of either anymore, but I used to main kayle top and morg support. Love them both. Hopefully the changes make them better and not worse. Kayle has been pulled in too many diverse directions with her kit and made into an aa-only champ with all her changes and nerfs ever since she reached that broken 3-shot anyone in the game phase a long while back. Her q used to be maxed by many for the burst damage - now it's damage is generally inferior to simply autoing. Her w used to heal way more, but lack a speed boost. Granted movespeed can be useful, but the healing is underwhelming if you go aa-focused build. Her e is what makes her kayle - along with her ult and passive. But it would be great if kayle passive applied more pen or took only 3 hits to reach 15% pen - seeing as how champs like Darius JarvanIV MonkeyKing etc. do not need to land 5 attacks to apply the pen in their kit. I would like to see ap burst AND aa kayle (both ad and ap preferably) be viable again. Morg's kit is pretty good but could use some scaling maybe. I'd also change her ult so champs like yi cannot simply press q and escape the 2nd proc of her ult because ONE of his targets during the q took him outside morg ult range even though the end of his q brings him back in ult range. If he didn't escape from ult range by running, flashing, ghosting out he should be stunned by 2nd proc.

When they do update both Morg and Kayle, I hope they don't change Morgana's kit too much. She is practically my main champ for both mid and support. I agree with one thing though is that they both need a VO update as well.
