There are still way to many champions who still talk to the "summoner." Since we got 2 champions last release, maybe we could have a VO centered project in the works.. hmmm? Maybe something along the lines of Lux's voice update, but for all the old champions. It sure would be nice if Miss Fortune became more of a badass in her VO, to match her new lore and cinematic.
Most of the responses to Lux and Maokai's VO updates have been super positive and hopefully that'll help convince Riot to do them more often
Bringing in all the VAs just for something like that seems like a lot. Riot probably has a bunch they want to do for each champion, not just removing references to 'Summoner'. Probably much cheaper to have the VA come in and do all of a champion's updates at once when they update that champion.
Agree! I been complaining about MF never receiving a new VO since the Bilgewater update happen for years now. This would be a very good opportunity to update MF's VO so that every time Riot uses her as an example for anything, the forum isn't so flooded with MF related topics. (Which I don't mind since she is my favorite ADC but yeah...)
I think most of any VO updates we see will be coincidental.
We got one for Lux because her voice actor was in-house for the Elementalist Lux skin.
Ezreal and Caitlyn getting some love on their Pulsefire skins could be a sign that they might see a VO update soon, as well, but Caitlyn was on the VGU list anyway.
I think VO updates should mostly be saved for Lux case; the champion doesn't need an update visually at all, so if they can, they can do an update. For example, since Pulsefire Ezreal was released, Graves could get a VO update perhaps (Ezreal and Graves share a voice actor).
IIRC, in the new lore, summoners still exist.
We just have no idea how or in what form.

Summoners are not what they were as their prime interaction with the story was through the IoW. That does not mean that the concept of Summoners will never be seen again within the story world, they just won't be taking the same role as previously. So nope, Summoners are not deleted from Runeterra.
