Varus's title, Arrow of Retribution, no longer makes sense
His story isn't about revenge anymore, so this title is archaic I think I'm not sure what to change it to though

He is about revenge. The Darkin, which is Varus, wants to reunite his remaining Darkin brothers and sister and take revenge upon humanity for imprisoning them in these weapons.
Retribution definition -punishment inflicted on someone as vengeance for a wrong or criminal act.
Key word is wrong/criminal act. The Darkin don't get to wave the retribution flag since they instigated the whole thing but trying to kill the people of Runeterra. New Varus just wants to kill people cause that was why he came here in the first place. Saying what he is doing now is Retribution is total hypocrisy on this part.
OP is partially right, New Varus has 0 to do with retribution, just plain old murder venegence cause he tried to kill them all a long time ago. Yet another reason why New Varus has nothing to do with old Varus
