Will We See Story Arc Conclusions In The Future?

What I mean by this is compare Ionia vs. Noxus and Kalamanda to the Freljord and Shurima events. While I don't mind open-ended events if they're setting up crossovers with the other characters, I also would like some closure on some of these stories.

Hopefully, yes. What you might not realize is that we already know how a number of those events end (or might end). The devil is in the details, as they say.

Now, telling the whole stories might take some time, but we reaaaaaally want to move away from bottomless cliffhangers unless they open up new avenues for storytelling.

A reminder to Riot: you can end one story arc and create a new one from the dénouement. An example: Nami cooperates with Diana, an epic quest follows, during which character and world are built, then Nami gets her moonstone, returns it to her people, and then decides to come back to the surface to advocate against Zaun etc dumping all their toxic chemicals in the ocean. New plot in effect!

Of course, that plot is bad, but I came up with it in under a minute. You could start by taking a few champions you'd like to tell stories about, make a post on the forums where people could chat a bit about what story they'd like to see, give thought points, and tell what they'd like to have the champs do after the main story. Eg. RiotLoreDrone: So, we're currently planning to tell a story about Shyvana going to Zaun on a fetch quest by Jarvan IV. What kind of things would you like to see of Zaun? This is going to be a sort of outsider perspective on Zaun so that we can properly explore some of its quirks. How much of Shyv's internal goings-on would you guys like to see? ForumPoster: Sounds cool! What format are you going to tell it in? I think a sort of Noir-esque comic would be nice, so we'd have visuals and Shyvana's personality would be reflected in its tone. I'm a huge Zaun fan, not so much Shyvana, so could we have her interact with at least one Zaun champion? LoreFan: Yay, Shyvana! Could we get some interaction between Shyvana and Jarvan at the start or end? (Maybe both, so it'd bookend the story?!) Also, could we have something on Demacian court life next? I'd love to see how Shyvana deals with all the noble Houses (and how they deal with her :P ).

...and so forth. You could mine ideas (noir comic, something on Demacian nobility) from forum posts.

Kind of, conclusions are limited by how they treat the champions without any underlying foundation to keep everything together. The primary draw back of the retconning of the IOW is that stories like the Freljord can't have a meaningful or satisfying cogent conclusion without it which means everything requires a new workaround.

A micro rewrite is where you change something in a single character's history to make them more feasible. A good example of a character that has been drowned in them is Power-girl of DC, she has one of the weirdest retcon histories, but she really needed them. They are not, leave them with a one paragraph existence.

By the way, I'm assuming they're trying to replace the in-client lore with videos, as showcased by the new Kalista cinematic. However, yeah it looks really cool, but it actually gives you jack-shit on the actual character.

The current Narrative team needs to actually think about what they're doing, (And maybe even listen to fans that have known this universe longer than most of their actual employees...) but apparently they aren't going to do that anytime soon™.

So, until otherwise, RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!

I assumed the arc would "end" when they decide to scrap the new lore like the did the old one.

Nope, because they want to "expand on storytelling".

Wonder why old Trundle was "reworked"?

"Narrative, please talk to us." "Okay, here's what we're-" "HACKS INCOMPETENT IDIOTS FIRE FIRE WORTHLESS" "..." "Wow, Riot never talks to us..."

Story Boards in a nutshell.

Oh also something about Graves' cigar I guess.

Seriously, I know it's only a few of you doing this, but the routine is tired already. There are a lot of people here making really valid complaints without caterwauling endlessly about how Narrative is evilsatandemons.
