Might just be me being high on Blazblue Centralfiction, but Susano'o in that game is a BEAST.
I mean, you already have Sun Wukong in the game, more or less, so how's about an expy of a Japanese god?
Would there be any "real life connotation ugliness"?
Honestly I'd say 
is pretty close to the god Susanoo
I mean Susanoo is a storm god and Yasuo uses wind powers. And both made errors out of arrogance(Yasuo left his post,Susanoo caused Amaterasu to hide),use katanas and go through some sort of redemption arc(Yasuo wants to clear his name of the crime that he was falsely accused and Susanoo gave his sister his new sword as a sign of good faith)
Only if Arakune also gets someone like him (and no, Bard isn't like him)
