How much of LOL is inspired by outside sources?

This is something I'm curious about. I'm not just talking about the Takili (crimson Akali) skin either. Since there's nothing new under the sun, usually good design comes down to finding the right combination of sources to be inspired from. So what do you all think some of riots inspirations were?

For instance here's some of my guesses = xenomorph meets scyther = hentai with lazers = barbarian cowgirl on a pig = star trek BSDM fantasies = cybrog frankenstien's monster = private joke to make fun of aquaman by showing how he could have been useful if he had real skills/powers = tomb raider batman = female midget conan the barbarian

You identified Kha'zix as an "Alien" xenomorph but not Rengar as a Predator?

Rengar could be predator, but he also feels like the GW2 cat race (partly based on when he was released).

The Charr? I feel like they have more of a Steampunk thing going, but the eyepatch is interesting. His rivalry with Kha'Zix and invisibility powers make him a lot like Predator though.

I'm sad Sion doesn't have special lines for him.

Yeah, I think you are right.

The whole game is based on DOTA, which was based on Warcraft. So by nature, a lot of abilities have roots in similar spells from WC3 that were given to DOTA heroes.

Skin wise, most skins have major influences in other forms of media. Yellow Jacket and Frozen Shen are Scorpion and Sub-Zero, Dragonslayer Jarvan is based on the Rathalos armor set from Monster Hunter, Sherwood Forest Ashe is obviously a Robin Hood reference, etc.

Names are often based on pop culture references too. Yorick, for example, was a character (posthumously) in Hamlet, who appeared in a scene in a graveyard with two gravediggers.

That's really just scratching the surface.
