Theory:Swain is from the Voodoo lands

Write Your ThoughtsSo yeah title says it all. I believe that might be from the voodoo lands.

I mean Swains background is quite the mystery and we don't know much about him and well we don't really know very much about the voodoo lands either,but the things that we do know about them match up really well.

So lets look at the stuff that hints at this direction.

• First of all,there is the obvious connection that Swain uses some dark forme of magic,while the voodoo lands were populated by the gray order,who were basically a whole order consisting of sorcerors. But well it is not like magic is exclusive to the voodoo lands,so that alone doesn't say much.

• The information about swains background are scarce,so I'd say it is likely that he didn't live in noxus originally,but swain sure seems to know a lot about the noxian society,enough to be able to quickly rise in power,not to mention his connections with the black rose These would be kinda weird for someone who didn't live in Noxus,but the gray order consists of outcasts,it would make sense that some of them kept their connections to Noxus intact and that they still know Noxus very well(considering that annie is the child of the founder of the voodoo lands I'd say that they aren't that old)

• The gray order opposed the high command,if swain is from the voodoo lands,then it would make sense for him to try to overthrow the current government

I've also read somewhere that swain supposedly "took back what belongs to him",but I can't find anything about that,so I dunno if that is actually canon. But if it is true,then it would fit,since annies lore mentions how some "self-proclaimed crown-prince Rashallion" attempted a coup just before the gray order left noxus. So what if Rashallion was actually the ancestor of the royal family that ruled noxus before boram darkwill(and was most likely overthrown by boram) and swain is his relative? After Rashallions rebellion failed,Swain decided to go into hiding by manipulating the gray order into leaving noxus,so that he could prepare his return in order to get the throne over noxus that would rightfully belong to him if it weren't for boram.

As a small bonus: Many people assume that swain is a reworked version of tabu,the voodoo shaman,if that would be true,then it would kinda fit too,because you know voodoo...
