We have so many Lore holes in this game, and so many retconned parts of the background that it's hard to keep up with what this game actually is anymore. But what i actually just realized is that the Summoners part of the story is gone and no longer canon. BUT we are still watching all these teams fighting over the SUMMONERS cup with Etched in Summoners holding summoner orbs all around the side.....
Wolfeur1 votesThe diegesis contains no summoners. However, the game uses the term as some kind of meta-lore. We, the players, are summoners. The lore of the game as a game, not the lore of the game as a universe.

Warlord Dienekes1 votesI'd call it stuff that was retconned away. In essence the new lore did away with the old for better or worse. Admittedly, Ruit has hinted that something called Summoners still exist in some way but they haven't said what they are only that they are far less powerful and central to the lore.
Wolfeur1 votesThe summoners on the summoner's cup represent the players, and no character in the lore. As I said, WE are the summoners, but they don't exist in the universe League is it. There is no institute of war, nor fields of justice anymore. I don't think even the summoner's rift is technically a place in the universe; it's only for the gameplay.
As for trailer, it is not canon anymore.
