Something is still bugging me...

We have so many Lore holes in this game, and so many retconned parts of the background that it's hard to keep up with what this game actually is anymore. But what i actually just realized is that the Summoners part of the story is gone and no longer canon. BUT we are still watching all these teams fighting over the SUMMONERS cup with Etched in Summoners holding summoner orbs all around the side.....

The diegesis contains no summoners. However, the game uses the term as some kind of meta-lore. We, the players, are summoners. The lore of the game as a game, not the lore of the game as a universe.
