Well, it's pretty ironic that now 9 other people can hear you too. And wasn't the summoner lore supposed to be ditched? I've seen other Sona lore thread complains, but now this is taking it to the extreme. Could we at least replace her select line?

On a serious note, we are still summoners for the game itself. It's just that the lore no longer involves it, so it's basically a game+story segregation. They used to do an integration (I believe that's the right word) to make it immersive, but then segregated the two. So technically it makes sense for Sona to say that (calling us summoners is the best way for a champion to break the fourth wall), but for new players it doesn't make a lot of sense.

I feel like there needs to just be a Summoner purge update. Rift probably needs to be renamed as well.

There are tons of things that honestly need to be fixed. Any line with "Summoner," Kassadin's joke since he no longer has a silence, etc.
I mean riot could easily "un-ditch" the lore retcon. I Mean it's their company so They could just say BOOM ORIGNAL LORE IS BACK BB

How is that exactly taking it to the extreme...
I'm all for exageration for the sake of prooving a point, but this whole thing's just... dumb. Feels to me you just wanted something to complain about.
We, the players, are still referred to as "Summoners" and the fights on the "Fields of Justice" are no longer canon, so they can say whatever the hell they want, as long as it retains their identities.
Summoners, The League of Legends, The Institute of War and The Fields of Justice lore are all scrapped and no longer canon. If you haven't noticed with the Bilgewater event and this year's Harrowing, Riot is gradually trying to rework the lores of every single champion in groups based on their province to give them each individual depth and to expand on their part in Runetera. Rewriting lore takes time, though, so gradually Riot is at least removing anything associated with the previously mentioned scrapped concepts in select champions' lore. (Ex. See http://www.surrenderat20.net/p/62-pbe-cycle.html#lore scroll down to the table of contents, check out "Lore Updates") Unfortunately many of our poor beloved champs affected by oldloreitis, in your case, Sona, have so far received neither treatments for now. All in time, though.

They are very likely to cut it and leave it as "what masterpiece should we play today"
See but then she wouldnt break the fourth wall, and that needs a little breaking now and then, dont you think?
