What happens when Bard fails at his job?

Do they send someone else in to repair the damage done? I imagine Bard as sort of this universal gardener, and when he fails, they (whomever they may be) send in the universal exterminator or something along that line. Or is it just left be?

Bard doesn't fail. He allows things to go a certain path.

I think there isn't a THEY here. Bard is at the top of whatever chain we're discussing. So... yeah. He does what he wants/can.

And if he fails... well, what does failure mean, exactly? No one can punish him. He may not fully succeed at his goals in a given situation, but your question assumes more consequences than might occur. The consequences are whatever problem he tried to fix isn't fully fixed. Nothing more.

Considering he deals with avoiding catastrophic events, I guess if he were to fail a galaxy or universe would be destroyed.

Bard influences Runeterran history in very different manner than the Darkins. Where Darkin directly influence key events in history through conflict and bloodshed, the Celestial passively pushes the world back to balance during its most desperate hours.

Bard is not concerned by the mundane actions of mortals, he only acts when larger dangers of cosmic significance threaten Runeterra.

For example, if Bard intervenes it's to influence something in another dimension 10000 years ago. Bard is not there actually to save you, he is saving you because one of your descendants might have an important part in the future, meaning that your life must be secured (at least to a certain point) for that to happen.

I feel like if he failed, which I doubt he ever has, the dimension in the future won't have you because he failed to save you in THIS timeline.

I doubt that Bard has someone above him.If he fails, then he fails, then the world will have to survive on its own without him or it will be destroyed.
