Yes, we saw it was a teaser for a stylish new champ, it was an opportunity for Riot to show off some great artwork, but in the end what are the in-world consequences? Are they permanently dead, or are they going to be fine? Will there be a lore event explaining why they came back to life or are we just going to assume nothing really happened?

Nothing, absolutely nothing happened to them. That was just a teaser to create a hype, that's all. Also, it would be lame as hell to kill those characters just because there's a new character who is, let's be honest, less interesting than them.
