Shurima is a continent. Not all of Shurima is desert. Think like Africa. Africa has significantly large rainforests.

Not every desert is pure sand, cacti and cow skulls.

A lot have small vegetation like Brushes and hunting in areas where there is enough water for bushes makes more sense than to hunt out in the sand.

Also since he only gameplaywise relies on the Brushes in Lore he could probably leap out of any hiding place like a sand dune, hole, etc.

Considering he is based on a Lion it makes sense for him to come from the desert.

Funny part: Bringing up Rengar in that conversation was pointless, since his subclass changed from assassin to diver. [sg-miss-fortune]

So there is still no assassin from Shurima.

Rengar doesn't need bushes when he has his ultimate. Hence, the desert.

There is likely a jungle on the southern continent. And since Shurima seems to be the only real nation on said continent,I'd say it is actually pretty likely that said jungle is seen as part of shurima.
