In Regards to the Champion Roadmap next Week; Here are the VGU's I'm most excited for
You know why I love VGU's? Apart from Riot taking characters with great themes but poor realization and turning them into nigh-perfect interpretations of their archetypes, of course.
It's the announcement that follows, with Riot teasing the next VGU(s?) that awaits us in the near future. And with the next Roadmap fast approaching I'd like to take some time to gush over what I believe would be the coolest champions to finally get a VGU! Of course this is my personal list and I'd love to hear your own thoughts on the matter.
So let's just do it the ol' Story and Art way and just NERD OUT over stuff that might even be YEARS in the future!
#Fiddlesticks! The Harbinger of DOOM https://orig00.deviantart.net/a61f/f/2013/318/d/e/tumblr_mnh11snipc1s5nlk4o2_500_by_raycorethecrawler-d6u8qgr.gif
Ah Fiddlesticks. Back when I started playing League in Season 3 he was my go to Jungler and I loved him to bits. And how couldn't I?
He comes with the promise of Eldritch Horror. A creeping terror that lurks in every shadow, every unwarded bush...Just to pop out, scare you shitless and just melt your healthbar with a Storm of Crows.
Yet he aged poorly. Like, reeeeally poorly. He's played more as a support than the Creepy Jungle Scarecrow he's supposed to be.
A VGU for Fiddlesticks would try bringing out this Terrifying aspect of his character. He is FEAR incarnate and he should represent that in game.
An ordinary-looking Scarecrow at first glance that turns into your worst Phobias. May it be spiders surging forth from the ruined cloth Fiddle might call his skin. Or the Ghastly, etheral glow of his Eyes as his wicked cackling melts into a song of cawing crows.
Fiddle is Cool, 'Nuff said, and I'm really looking forward what Riot could do to make him truly live up to his expectations!
But until then, the Ideal Fiddle only lurks in our Nightmares, stalking his barren field devoid of any Harvest...except your Terror!
#Pantheon! The Artisan of WAR https://static.comicvine.com/uploads/scale_medium/5/58339/1246374-ares_by_genzoman.jpg
With Targon getting a huge lore relaunch, Pantheon sticks out like a sore thumb. Mostly because he's back from an age where Riot was just creating champions on a whim. Behold Pantheon!
What's his Profession?! A bland 300's Reference!
Pantheon has the potential to become the most awesome Targonian champion, mostly due to the fact that he is the ASPECT of WAR! A demigod that walks the earth with a Spear like a Shooting Star and a Shield like the Heavenly Firmament.
Riot would not only have to bring him in line with the other Targonian visuals but he would also finally represent a War God in both Looks and Gameplay. There's a ton of ways to make a Heavenly Starforged Warrior like him truly unique.
And not to mention the whole Atreus-Pantheon dynamic, with hints of the host's spirit remaining making for an interesting, conflicted character!
#Akali! The Fist of SHADOW https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/7/76/Akali_Outfit_Exploration.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/640?cb=20161120081106
Didn't expect this one, didcha? But yes, I am really hoping Akali is going to deliver on the whole "Duality Ninja" Aspect to contrast Shen's Balance Ordeal.
She's a nimble, elusive Ninja gal with twin Kamas, it's preeeety Anime but just imagine the stuff Riot could do to give us yet another Ninja archetype besides Toasterface.
She also serves as a great way to flesh out the Kinkou Order and show us more of this side of Ionia's inner workings!
All in all, she'd probably make Riot the biggest amount of profit, seeing that she has a theme that appeals to a LOT of players.
#Mordekaiser! The Iron Revenant Master of METAL
(Huge Shoutout to "Howling Carnage" who's redesigning Mordekaiser for the Polycount contest, it's been a joy watching him work and sharing in the process of creating a VU fitting for Mordekaiser!)

Each and every one of the recent VGU's just further stokes the flaming Inferno of Hype that is my Expectation for Mordekaiser's own VGU.
I've seen Riot bring out the best out of some of my favorite characters like Galio and Swain who truly deliver on their Battlemage gameplay fantasy while being extremely awesome visually, as well as underdogs like Urgot who really feels like a hulking Juggernaut to rival Mordekaiser in terms of how METAL he is (plus he actually fixes a lot of the gripes I have with juggernaut gameplay as a whole)
But I'm digressing. Mordekaiser is by far my most anticipated VGU, and for good reason.
He is the champion that got me into League of Legends and the years have not been kind to him. He has a ton of untapped Gameplay, Visual and of course STORY potential that just waits to be brought out.
He could be one of the most impressive VGU's to date if handled correctly, truly delivering on the whole "Revenant Emperor" archetype. He connects the ancient Evil Noxus was founded on, Necromancy, and the Shadow Isles and would be the missing link to showcase what Unholy Beings emerged from Runeterra's ancient History.
He's one of Valoran's original Villains. A man who lost his humanity to his never-ending craving for Conquest, for Eternal Enslavement and Domination of what he claimed. He's a Tale only spoken in hushed whispers, he's the looming threat of another age of Darkness to sweep over Runeterra and bring the Rise of yet another Immortal Empire with him.
He's Mordekaiser, the Murder Emperor, Iron Revenant, Master of Metal, The Immortal Wraith King, he's an Ancient Evil and he could be fantastic.
And yet he's just a buggy meme-y mess of a champion.
But I am certain he'd rise from the ashes just like he did in his updated lore. Stronger, greater, and more METAL than we could ever imagine!
But those are just my personal favorites. What are the VGU's you're looking forward to the most?
. I almost find it morally wrong to have a discussion about poorly aged champs without mentioning him. In the current meta, he's in the gutter, and despite the buffs from Riot, I just have a hard time imagining that Nunu can be fearsome or impressive without a rework. He's one of the goofiest champs in the game, and that's a shame given that he rides a mother f'ing Yeti.
rework soon
get a VGU some day. Her rework left a really bad taste due to the removal of Valor as a combat form and Riot attempting to fit her into the Marksman class (where she arguably doesn’t really belong). Her art/theme could be sooo much better too — Swain really exemplifies how awesome a bird-themed champion can be in League. If they ever get to her, I think it’d be really cool to see her go in the direction of a Demacian Raptor Knight:

; despite having these magic floating swords that are mentally controlled she really... doesn't use them like that. It's more like they're just floating by her side and she can fling them at you when she ults. Cool.
A lot of potential here just sitting around, even if she's still playable.
Big rock man roll rock in face. Big rock man slap thing. Big rock man hit ground with fist. Big rock man charge at you.
For a living rock golem, he's really bland. Yes, AP malphite can be comical because of his ult (and if anything that's what should stay, although with some delay or something on it to give his opponents the ability to react...), but past that he's just spam spells in his enemies faces with hopes that they die. His attack speed slow is worth noting though; it's a very rare thing that may be the last of its kind.
Again, potential, but just isn't living up to it.
...ahh, tryndamere. The champion that quite literally revolves around right clicking with an ultimate that makes it very much impossible to solo him unless your name is Rammus, malphite, or a drain tank that can outheal his dps.
His kit is really outdated and bland, with so little to it that he just splitpushes endlessly and really just makes the game boring for both his team and his opponents. Again, he does have a rather rare relic in his W; attack damage reduction, as well as slowing if your back is turned (the only other champion to have a spell that bases itself around facing is Cass's ult.) Past that though... yeah.
and
, and some champions that remain binary but are still valuable in the right circumstances, like
.

is my guess.
Though I do like your list.
VGU, his new described design sounds amazing, The Thousand pierced Bear, and I can't wait to see Riot execute it in game and splashart. Also he's technically the Freljord's god of war, so in game interactions between him, Panth and Aatrox are something I hope Rito considers.
I'd like his visuals updated at least, and maybe a mini overhaul of his kit. Nothing too crazy at all (he's honestly great how he is) but just enhanced visuals and maybe minor kit tweaks and changes.
