Think of it like a scale:

Caitlyn + = all Riot has to do is confirm it at this point Leona + Diana = a little ship teasing and implication, from what I've heard, but nothing concrete Veigar + Lulu = fan preferred couple Annie + Velkoz = disable google search

IronStylus confirmed Leona/Diana some years ago, way back Diana was first released and the internet was abuzz with fanfiction. He commented on one of the fanfic discussions that all the speculation about them being star-crossed lovers is pretty much spot on.

Riot never confirmed it as a company, but I'd say the characters' actual creator knows better.

Ah, so that's why. I've only heard the second part, not the part that IronStylus said it himself.

Even if Riot won't make it canon (come on, we all know Garen and Katarina are spinning together), we can take Word of God for it.

It is somewhere in the fanfiction part of the old forums, plus it was posted way back in late 2013. I'm sorry, I wish I could dig it up but it's nigh impossible at this point.

That said, I don't think IronStylus being pro-Diana/Leona is news. Having him added on Tumblr gave you a steady stream of Leona/Diana fanart for a while, plus he's the one who once posted a long essay about how he reads Pantheon and Leona as only childhood friends, and that Leona and Diana "complete" each other.

Diana was raised as a solari,while leona was raised as a rakkor. Diana most likely never saw pantheon at all.

I don't think that's the case if Diana and Leona were originally friends. I'd think that Pantheon would have been introduced to Diana through Leona.

well by now we've got the new targon lore,which pretty much makes clear that Diana and Leona barely knew each other before Diana killed the elders.(Not to mention that pantheon and leona didn't seem to be on good terms either)

Even before the new lore,there was nothing that indicated that Leona and Pantheon remained in contact after Leona became a solari.

Pantheon is the literal avatar of the Aspect of War. He loves no one.

In the new lore there is no indication that Pantheon or Leona have anything going. Heck, not even Pantheons host body character had anything going with Leona.
