Is Vel'Koz actually in the Void in his splash art and login screen?

Taking a second look at Vel'koz's splash art a question popped into my mind: Champion splash art usually place the champs in "home territory", so perhaps the location pictured in the splash art is actually Koz territory? If so, the location pictured seems to be incredibly dusty and electrically charged, almost seemingly like a nebula. Perhaps Koz territory is a "true" void where there's no land mass?

Also is this the first time the void has been shown?

Potentially he's not. I remember in the Bard Q&A talking about the magical friction and stuff that all worlds have access to, and it reminded me that Vel'Koz can make rifts to the Void. Potentially this is Vel'Koz in the middle of doing a Bard thing and travelling through dimensions, but with Void techniques and not horn blowing in to Harmonic Key techniques.

it does look very void like though, so I'm probably wrong, I just like mentioning that magical friction stuff.

I think the magical friction holds greater weight than his login screen showing the Void. If the Void is some weird, magic nebula, then there would be little need for most of the Voidborn to possess a physiology best suited to terrestrial existence.

I feel like the Void isn't so much just one singular locale but a collection of worlds sitting in a dark part of the universe that have managed to sustain life through the nature of the Void itself. I'd also wager that tapping in to the friction is something that's natural (albiet perhaps hard) for voidborn to do due to the nature of the Void itself and the relationship the creatures have with their home.

Void energy is likely just another form of power that originates from that big old home of Bard that just trickled down through the friction to allow for such a place as the Void to exist. The difference of course being that the Void is so full of that energy that it infused pretty much all of the life that exists there, as opposed to Runeterra where most lifeforms don't have naturally occurring magical powers.

Actually, to me the celestial realms seem to be the 'bubbly' separated ones (hence Bard traveling around, Soraka also owned her own grove) while the Void is a concentrated, big, spreading mass taking over other worlds at it's leisure.

I mean, the Void reminds me of Tyranids and Zergs, and they were more characterized by controlling a certin territory and not fractions, even taking up space instead of just the planets.

I wouldn't say there is no land mass because Rek'Sai exists. There must atleast be something to dig through. It could be that what we see in the splashart is the "sky". (Can't think of a better word)

Yeah definitely, I'm sure there's different "territories" for the different void races.I don't think cho'gath would like somewhere where there isn't any solid ground either.

doesnt rly matter as long new taric is released

Taric ain't related to the Void so it matters in relation to Void matters, which definetly matter because the Void is really cool. That right there is a fact.
