I had some conversations in here with people who were saying that Shen is the new "doesn't get skins" meme, since Yorick got served with the newest addition of Arclight Yorick.

After some investigation, I have to say that this meme is absolutely inappropriate, no matter how you look at it.

The last skin Shen received was his TPA Shen skin in 2013, however, for the sake of this discussion we want to exclude it, since worlds skins don't count for the general skin process. However, there is another champion who didn't get a new skin for even longer than this. So Shen gets beaten here by 1 month. Some people argue that this doesn't really count, since Urgot received a VGU and therefore got all his skins reworked, "which means basically new skins".

In my opinion, that is not a relevant argument, since Yorick was the meme before him and he did receive his VGU as well. But let's assume that is valid and we rule out Urgot because of his rework.

That would mean we have to think about Shen as "last received skin" as the moment of his rework as well. Which was in the year 2016, not that long ago. Meanwhile Jarvan IV received his last skin (which wasn't worlds related), Warring Kingdoms Jarvan IV, in the year 2013. Long story short, no matter how you look at it, Shen is not appropriate as the new meme for "getting new skins". If you want to meme about that, chose Urgot or Jarvan IV.

To be fair, Rumble and Urgot both have skins with new particle effects, and in Rumble's case a new VO. Shen's skins are all expensive 750s. He got a VGU and not one of his skins has any good particle effects.

Edit: and his VO is about a minute long.

The reason why we talk about shen: None of his skins are great, and all his models are practically the same but different clothing and particles simply aren't there. Additionally he got a rework so the "possibly to get changed before a skin" isn't there.

Urgot has two really kick ass skins we can be happy with (battlecast, crabgot) with different animations, but even before that people didn't complain because we knew he was likely to get a VGU first anyway.

Shen though, he needs a 1350 quality skin.

I think the main source of the meme was the teaser for that Yi/Janna/Fiora skin line, because it genuinely looked like it would be for Shen with a floating sword and stuff.

Worlds skins are still skins though just like the rest of the categories, his last skin clearly was TPA Shen

What I find ridiculous, is the fact that Shen has ALWAYS been relevant. In pro play and ranked premades, Shen has always been an important pick because of his kit. If Shen sucked, he wouldn't get picked only because of his ult. Ever since there has been meta, Shen's always been relevant in the meta (jungle and top). To think that Shen hasn't got a skin that alters his VFX is just weird. He has many skins, but those skins are just remodels of Shen, and nothing else is changed, except for the spirit sword. Swain VGU came out and his skins get different color VFX and all that good stuff. You get to choose from a rainbow which Swain to get, and that should be the case with Shen aswell.

No longer stand true due to j4 getting 2 new skins NOT 1 but 2,i want shen to recieve a new skin but the champion that deserves a new skin badly is aurelion sol.[slayer-pantheon-thumbs] But what is even more ridiculous is the fact they gave lux another skin after they gave her an ultimate skin.Riot isnt very good at balancing out their skin creations they probably dont even look at who needs a new skin the most likely just look at the most relevant champ and give them a new skin imo complete bs.[zombie-brand-facepalm]
