Tryndamere held an impromptu AMA while addressing the issue of riot's communication's policies. When confronted about the removal of summoners from the lore he responded by saying they haven't removed summoners from the lore?

Your "new direction", has completely ignored a lot of the communities discontent with the idea of removing Summoners from Lore. Everything they are currently brewing is no good because it has no tie to what happens in game. I've yet to see anything that assuedes me on this (Harrowing, Azir, etc.)

He's the president of an international corporate juggernaut. I'm sure he means well for his customers, if only because they're what puts bread on his table, but it's pretty silly for you to expect that he actually pays attention to anything that goes on in the department described by every insider as having the lowest priority in the company.

Maybe he didn´t get the memo from the Lore dpartement where they told him about how they managed to enrage all of the lore community without any decent reason. Must have been a good laugh for them, dunno why they didn´t share it.

I think what he means is that Summoners are still what they're calling players (Summoner spells, etc.). The dev blog made it pretty clear summoners were nixed.
