Is Riot not removing the IoW and summoners?

I recently made a new account and with it came a standard welcome email.

Is Riot not removing the IoW? I'm confused.

It's just an outdated email form. It even seems to be directing you to the New Player Forum, which no longer exists.

Not really. Riot hasn't cared about the lore for a long, long time.

They're removing the IoW from the lore, and therefore the connection between Runeterra and the game, that's all. We're still summoners in-game, they just forgot to remove the 'in Valoran' part of the mail... And don't worry, the core of the characters will be intact after the retcons too. Just don't mind Trundle. Or Xerath. Maybe one or two others.

Yep, no faith in the new lore from me, I miss Trundle :/

It's Riot.

They said they were doing away with all that and they will, it'll just take them a few years before they actually get around to it. Like most everything they do.

nothing is changed in-game so technically in-game you're still a summoner who summons champions and they all fight on the fields of justice in lore however.......

Alright so Riot is just going full DC with multiple realities and retcons. :\ Its not quite what i signed up for when i started playing this game.

No one did, hence the massive outcry and confusion when this first came to light. Riot has repeatedly claimed that they have a plan for everything relating to the lore. The problem is that we have nothing to go on. Like the empty promises of an East Coast server (or at least a standard ping across the country) we have nothing to go on but promises of "Soon..."

In a similar manner, everyone got an e-mail a few months ago saying "New 'Friend Referral Rewards' coming next month!" Time passed, and today we were told "The email was just a future heads up. We didn't set a hard date because things on the backend were still being QA'ed and we weren't sure if there were going to be any outstanding issues (which there ended up being.) We figured it would be fine to say "30 days" even if we couldn't hit that 30 days because it gives people more time to earn rewards in the 2.0 system."

As much as I want to like Riot (a lot of the Rioters seem nice on the forums, and I even played an ARAM with one a while ago), I hate the way they do things as a company. It's really annoying sometimes to be told "Don't worry, we know what we're doing!" then see plans fall through (Magma Chamber) or get delayed with no estimated arrival date (East Coast servers, Refer-A-Friend rewards, Yorick and Urgot reworks, lore replacements, etc.)

They said they had plans what, 2 years ago? 3? I don't think they'll do something about the lore until they can make money off it.

While it's more than likely an outdated email as others have said, I'm not sure all of Riot even knows the retcon happened.

what if summoners are real but they just make copies of people now and do these fights on a magical field underground thats based off of places in runterra?
