Theory time; Evelynn

Some of you might have already read the last post I made concerning Evelynn ([(http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/6uRAp9eo-whats-an-evelynn)]) in which I tried tackling what Evelynn really is and what her core thematics are.

Some of the most important things to her character were; Shadowy Assassin Feeding/getting off pain of others->Sadistic Predatory/eerie aura

All of which were present in her color text that was released today. It's an excellent piece of lore and I'm really happy how she was portrayed, Good job Riot!

Though this begs the question regarding what her "Price" is. I personally think her price's life essence/blood which she'll drain from whoever contracted her, feeding off them in intervals of maybe weeks, days or months, sustaining herself through them like Dracula feeding off Lucy in Bram Stoker's works.

Contracting her for her services comes at a price, none of gold but one that will physically and/or psychically scar you, if not even taint your soul permanently. It's not a down payment of just letting her drain you once but rather be haunted by her for an extended period after she has eliminated her target. The first time might be harmless and nothing more than just an inconvenience but every other feeding will be worse than the last, becoming exhausting, agonizing, maybe even go so far as to drain you to the point of death.

Thoughts, theories, discussions, that's what this board's for so put on your tinfoil hats and lets talk!

I think she is a specific demon, a succubus. Like how Tahm Kench basically a demon but when you go deeper, you can easily say he is crossroad demon. She makes deal with people and price of it is not money. She is a malicious being who also seduces like how a succubus does. She fits perfectly if you ask me.

Maybe she was demon of the Blessed Isles and witnessed Corruption of the Land. And after this, there was no one left to deal, so she moved.

The way you're obsessed with Eve, I'm going to ship her and Morde soon.

I don't think it is blood. I think it is their emotions. "Hate Spike". "Agony's Embrace."

"I smell their fear." "It's time to feed." "Misery loves company." "It's time to feed."

This is a stretch but have you thought of some connection between Evelynn and the seal for the Shadow Isles? Why do they look eerily alike? Hair and all.

Blue skin, pink hair, glowing eyes... she's a troll right? https://s18.postimg.org/u61lv31ex/kappa32.png

I actually liked the idea that Evelynn was a darkin similar to Aatrox. It explains her non-human appearance and gives her a unique narrative niche other than 'all scary things come from the shadow isles'.

(if you hadn't noticed, I'm extremely ant-shadow isles for Eve)

As for her "price", personally I actually kind of wish she wanted money, like exorbitant amounts of wealth for a single hit. Even if she doesn't have a need for it, she wants it anyways. The you don't pay......with money MUAHAHAHA meme is kind of old imo.

I think we have enough creepy spooky entities in the game at this point, and since Evelynn interacts directly with people, I think it would be cool to have her interact with people more. Not just anyone, mind you, but some people. Perhaps she even heads a secretive criminal organization of some kind, so she has a very small inner-circle that meets with her. And maybe she can only be bothered to do really high profile hits because she doesn't actually need to do them and just does it for the thrill.

I really think the best motivation for Evelynn's character would be "because I want to", not some 'crazy curse' or vampire-like compulsion or anything. Just let her be a straight-up badass bitch doing her thing for the hell of it

There are parts of the lore blurb I did and didn't like, but one thing I think they really got right is the idea that Evelynn is all stealthy and stuff as she approaches, but she doesn't actually hide from the target (or in this case buyer she's talking to). I've always imagined that Eve wants her target to know it's her who is killing them, so it's never just a knife in the back with her. I think her gameplay supports this idea too. If you think about it from the opponents perspective, Evelynn doesn't run around stealthed, she just appears next to you and it's already too late. So it's not so much that she is a stealthy champion, more like she just appears where she wants when she wants to take out her prey.

One thing I didn't like from the lore blurb was how she was discussing who she did and didn't kill with the guy. Honestly, a shrug and a smirk would have been much more fitting than "killed him, killed him, didn't kill him, killed him.."

I actually wrote a letter to Lonewingy who was named as a person who is going to work on Evelynn update by IronStylus a while ago. In that letter I explained my view on Evelynn and how her appearance/quotes and everything else we have on her make me feel about what kind of person she is and, I gotta say, that this short story really resembles what I described.

I don't know if that was somewhat expected, but I'm pleased with the result nonetheless and I look forward to see her character development from this point onwards. I feel like this is the right way to work with her instead of removing her and building a new and different Evelynn 2.0.

I don't think Evelynn is a demon, considering that demons are not and have not shown to be present on the Shadow Isles. I think it's entirely too early to make conjecture based on her appearance, since it will change a lot in her heavily hinted VGU next year; That being said, you'll notice some similarities that have been cropping up between her and one of the other Shadow Isle denizens - Elise. It made a point to note Evelynn's crimson hair (her hair is pinkat current) and her being clad in red, something she share with Elise after her transformation. Given that Evelynn's tagline is Widowmaker, it wouldn't be an absurd stretch to pull her into the aura of Vilemaw as one of his envoys.

I'm pretty sure Eve was modeled after one of my exes in college. Acts a lot like her too.

i dont think its life force seeing as she can easily take that at will, as was shown in the new lore. im going with the theory that she is the same kind of demon tahm kench is. he feeds off of dispair, so eve might feed off something similar.

as for her connection with the shadow isle, im going to say its also connected to her connection with the grey lady. this lore pretty much confirms she isnt bound to the shadow isles like thresh/kalista/hecarim are. she is able to move freely to any city any time she wants, so my theory on that was confirmed.(pretty happy that it was).

that being said, there is a reason people associate her with the shadow isles and my new theory, after this fantastic piece of lore of her, is that it is because of "the grey lady". my guess is that the grey lady is eves assassin rival, but this assassin is actually from the shadow isles. since people like saito seem to confuse the grey lady for eve the rumor of her being from the shadow isles also gets intertwined. this would obviously annoy eve.

another theory is that she was hired by someone to kill the grey lady, basically an assassin hired to kill another assassin, which created the rivalry naturally. but since the grey lady is from the shadow isles, killing her would obviously be an impossibility. this would also annoy eve as it would be the one and only person she was hired to kill but cant kill.

The price is more than you would be willing to give... at first. Eventually you will come around.

In my incarnation of Evelynn, she has this tragic longing to be a mother. Pulling from the notion that she was either born or became a succubus, the species is often regarded as barren. Reproduction is a very slim prospect and generally fatal to any human male that gets caught up in these attempts. Inserting love into this equation is brutal. Its hard on the heart to become attached to anyone she would use in her efforts.

On a whim, I had her tied in with the Black Rose as a former "babysitter" for Evaine. I will probably abandon that cute thought, since I don't quite see how Evelynn would return to her former life simply because Evaine has grown up and assumed the role of LeBlanc.

What I wanna know is her association with the shadow isles, like how did she get her stealth powers in the first place? Thats what I wanna know!

Mainly cause when I was a new player back in S3 I was looking at the lore of different champs in the client and I saw evelyn and I hoped her lore would tell me why she was purple.

I then was sad.

XD

I play this since season 1, Evelynn is the champ I got my first level 30 with and I played a lot of ranked with her, I would build her as an ad/ap hybrid with a lot of movement speed so I could go stealth and literally move all around the map searching for alone enemies to gank, it used to be my favourity game style... as you all know things changed and stealth ain't much of a thing nowadays and Evelynn changed altogether... I did keep my gaming style playing as Yi full DPS for jungle though...

Anyways my point is, Evelynn was once a dear champion to more different gameplay, but now the meta is just sooo damn strict you don't even find her anywhere but in ARAM... which is by irony the only type I play ever since SR become the same old.... you farm farm farm.... 20ish minutes later you finally get some action on team fights but you only win IF you won the farming.... shrugs...

Woah I really like this. I'm not sure if you were already implying this but maybe she doesn't necessarily tell you when she is gonna feed. Like imagine waking up and the shadows cling to eve in your room. spoopy
