What happened to full visual reworks?

I might didn't notice much but, I haven't heard about visual reworks in a loooong while. And by visual reworks I mean one of those who changes only the visuals (slightly, but effective enought to make them visually different and more appealing) and not the full reworks. I can only think about Kassadin who got one a "long" time ago to give an example of what I'm talking. Nowadays, only the champions who gets a full rework (Taric Galio Yorick ) Have the chance to get one, meanwhile we have Pantheon Mordekaiser Viktor and others who could have just a little love without changing their abilities and make them more appealing. If it's the work that repulse Riot to do so, they should keep in mind that those need very few working time compared to other present projects. But then again, maybe some champs got those reworks recently and I didnt notice nor read about them, but I would still like to see more of them

Edit: forgot about Malzahar who kinda got from "kid with a purple turban with stars on it" to actual prophet of the void

Riot has stated previously that they're not going to be doing VUs again for a while; since so many champions need new lore AND new kits, they want to focus on full VGUs for now.

I believe Morde is going to get a full VGU, and spearchucked is on their radar for one. Viktor looks pretty good right now.

A lot of the characters with outdated looks tend to have outdated kits as well

Visual reworks were popular then because a lot of champions looked outdated and were not getting changed anytime soon.

However nowadays, visual work is put aside because most if not all of the outdated looking champions are getting a VGU sooner or later and small updates such as the one to malzahar comes up which is a better opportunity for riot visual update than just at random and then a few months later they need a full update anyway. Also a lot of visually unappealing champions already got updates, such as singed.

For example, nunu and jax will probably get a full VGU soon so there's no point in wasting time to visually update their soon to be deleted models.

i think VU's are now called Modernization ( A VGU but holding on some of its own origins but completely new like the warwick VGU unlike sion/galio rework). As to why it is, its because instead of just model updates we could see a whole update of it so that riot wouldn't revisit that champ regularly and making VU will just slow the process of VGU's making VGU's last atleast 6 more years.

Panth and Mord are on the list for VGU's. Not sure what tier they are though. But yeah, I feel there are some other champs that could use a visual update, like Cait for example.
