I'm a bit surprised of these changes: Diana actually seems to go into a more neutral direction,her short lore doesn't talk about her crusade against the solari,so maybe that part will get scrapped(or at least won't be permanent,maybe she realizes that she should take another way?)

Leona on the other hand seems to become a bit darker in terms of character,I mean "Leona brings enlightenment to some, death to others" sounds a bit harsh.

surprised me the most.I mean the changes of the others are only slightly implied,but in Pantheons case,he went from "dude who is good at war" to "avatar of war"(the mention of him becoming the incarnation of the celestial aspect of war also sounds very interesting). While it does help making him stand out a bit more(Pantheon VU incoming?),I kinda hoped that Pantheon would become the kind of guy who is good at war and always talks about war....but doesn't actually enjoy it so much.You know the kind of character who acts like everyone expects him to act,who ultimately has a hard time to be himself. But well that was personal wishthinking of mine,mainly based on his baker-joke,so its no surprise to me that he didn't turn out like that xD

Overall I get the impression that Targon seems to be split into multiple sub-factions(well not that that is something entirely new) and that it is a place where the gods seem to be quite active(maybe Targon is basically becoming the mount Olympus of LoL?)

I was really surprised to see no mention of Diana's murders in her short lore. "Death to others" in Leona's, is perhaps more expected considering she grew up as a Rakkoran; but as far as I know, the core characteristic of her is her need to protect others - no mention of that in her short lore either. If they change their personalities, I won't be a fan of that.

Yeah its kinda weird how they mention Leona killing her enemies in her lore,when Leona got her powers when she spared someone,while they don't make any mention of diana killing someone when she got her powers to kill the elders.

Looks to me a bit like they try to push the conflict into a more grey area,but it feels a bit forced :/

Leona's change rubs me the wrong way... I've been in love with her character since her release, and a large part of that came from her strong yet merciful demeanor. I liked that she was a defender. And in my mind, I've always saw her as someone that would restort to fighting as a last resort.

But truth be told, the lore change is too short for me judge... So we'll see.

Diana's lore is taking a more neutral direction -- I don't like it. In her login music, you hear her sorrow, her pain, her anger, as her misplaced trust became forged into a cold, unforgiving scorn. Diana had arguably the most compelling lore in the game, especially when considering the amount of depth in such a short passage. Her crusade against the Solari was cruel, and perhaps, morally wrong; but it also, somehow, felt righteous: this is what made her lore so great.

To play devil's advocate for a moment, Diana's old lore was good and strong, aye. But it was also limited. She was essentially stuck in her ways. She didn't have much room for growth or development. The hope is that by making her more neutral, Diana can have more opportunities to show more of her personality, outside of "Fervent psycho moon crusader".

Even "Psycho crusaders" can be changed. All that matters is what the author does with them. However, "deleting" everything that hero or champion was until now and just replacing with something else is not good writing. Its shitty decisions unable to coupe with the consequences of their actions.

Its like if you write a book, and release it to the public. Then you write second volume. And then a 3rd volume. Then you go and say: well people, pretend that the 2nd and 3rd book didn't happen. THIS IS WHAT THIS STORY IS ALL ABOUT. You basically shit on all your fans from the beginning until now. You will lose respect and credibility. Even if you become more popular than before, everyone knows you are a fraud with no backbone, and will never ever respect you.

That's what Riot does with lore changes such as these. And that's why, from the majority of the players, the lore matters less than the dirt under their fingernails

I wouldn't say so. They're like mortals through whom other entities channel their powers through seemingly; avatars of said celestial powers essentially. The Ascendants were bestowed power by a greater force, and transformed. While the origin is potentially similar the method of empowerment and power bestowed upon said avatars is likely vastly different. The Ascendant's powers align with powers they had as mortals, where as becoming the avatar of the aspects seems to make you a mortal embodiment of said celestial.
