Ok, sorry for the cringy title, but I liked it and I have an inquiry.

Even though the Project: Skins are just what they are. Skins. There seems to be a heavily fleshed out background forming around them. We know there are factions, and from Vayne's specific voice lines to Program skins, we know they're somehow tied into Project: lore. In Project: Katarina's splash art you can see, what looks like, Battlecast Vel'Koz in the background. Which you can see here.

Naturally, this makes me curious. Is the known Project: lore we have a alternate universe of some sort? Maybe this is what Runeterra will be in the future. If so, how did it come to this? If so, was a mad scientist from Zaun responsible for all this? Maybe it was a Piltover experiment gone wrong.

Sorry for the blabber, Project: skins are my favorite skin line and I'm a bit excited to see this set had some lore tied to it.

Edit: I Just learned there's actually a story on the Universe page?????? I'm shook

Theres quite a few skins line that are tied to together and have lores. Starting with the most recent star guardians they seem to be trying to flesh out some skin lines alot. Also if you read the skins collection part of the patch notes they should be adding lore to skins there sometime in the near future.

I think it's an alternate timeline in which Jayce failed to stop Victor. Battlecasts were probably built to bring nations under his control so that he could share his glorious evolution, the Mecha skinline may also be a part of this timeline, being built to handle Void creatures, the Project line would rather obviously be the natural evolution of the glorious evolution that Victor sought to bring people, and Program were probably built to handle the various functions of the massive cities or as an evolution of sentient robots like Blitzcrank. Caitlyn's Pulsefire skin also suggests that it and Pulsefire Ezreal are in the same timeline and that the Programs eventually went rogue. Of course, this is all speculation based on what little information some voicelines and the more recent story, so I could just be entirely wrong.

They say skin themes are not connected lorewise, and yet Battlecast, Program, Mecha, Battlecast, and Puslefire all reference each other and can easly be placed in a Dystopian timeline. So far no champion has gotten an additional skin in any of these themes, all of them have at least one skin in one of the themes, making the connection of a unified timeline more likely.

It's a mess. The Project skin lines are clearly inspired from Ghost In The Shell.

Which is fine, because everything in recent memory has had some ties to it, like The Matrix and a lot of cyberpunk.

The problem now is "How serious does Riot want to take it?" Cause it's the same premise. A bunch of cyborg cops (ROBOCOP,GITS) with fucked up previous lives/unfinished business but now "Reformatted".

Honestly by now, it's just a trope. Angry cop that's now a metal shell.

Tieing in other skins will be easy if you just assume there are other countries and PROJECT is confined to say 2049 Piltover :)
