Riot definitely drew some inspiration from the idea of a dragon as an extremely proud and condescending being, the most famous recent example being Benedict Cumberbatch's performance in The Hobbit series. I'm actually quite happy about this, as it should make for both intimidating threats, and hilarious interactions with other champions.
