WHY DEEP SPACE ILLAOI IS THE BEST CONCEPT OF THE THREE

We all know that, in her regular lore, Illaoi is a faithful priestess of Nagakabouros that wholeheartedly embodies and preaches the teachings of her religion. Deep Space Illaoi completely turns that theme on its head, giving it a new horrifying spin: the priestess that once spread her truth through faith has now become a knowledge-seeking space explorer who was contaminated by a Dead Space-like alien creature and is now being mind-controlled by it in order to spread the infection. On top of that, we already have another space skin, Astro, that could be beautifully incorporated in the new lore: "unwilling to abandon his fellow astronaut Illaoi, who fell to the infection, Nautilus keeps fighting against the space parasyte in order to find a cure" (which would be an ironic parallel to Nautilus' regular lore, where he got corrupted by a dark entity and left for dead by his own crew).

Oh I'm right with you there - even tempted to include Astro Teemo in there. In my totally unofficial head-canon, they're part of a deep space vessel (Illaoi as pilot, Teemo on sensors, Nautilus as space walk expert, maybe Viktor engineer, maybe Lee Sin (blinded by the horror) in security/the military guy) that gets lost between worlds and encounters something terrible. Full-on creepy space horror.

I totally voted for Deep Space Illaoi (as she's the only top laner I ever dabble with) but other Rioters seem to be split in opinion.

When Deep Space Illaoi is chosen, I think you should try putting the pulled back hairstyle of Battlecast Illaoi on the Deep Space Illaoi, perhaps keep it that dark red, and change the orange of her suit to a deep red as well, to complement the green of her new "friend".

Or maybe have her "friend" more on the blue spectrum for that sweet sweet blue orange complement. Still try the pulled back hair style.

I love the moon crater idea! That'd be really neat. I'm not connected to the skins team, but I'll mention to the one person I talked to about this stuff yesterday. I imagine they'er a bit overwhelmed with the response right now!

When I voted I entertained the Test of Spirit(E) concept execution for all 3 skins. Deep space had me thinking the screen goes dark with distorted, nightmarish sounds for the vessel so that's what I picked.

That's the idea behind it. She is a cyborg, she didn't get turned completely in a robot yet and is a rebel against Viktor's system of robotification.

Call it something besides Battlecast, and I'm cool with it. As it is, it just doesn't fit the line. Especially with the "lore" concept. She isn't part of the Battlecast, she's fighting against it. Other than the lore, the concept art is too fluid and organic, where most of the skins are hard and angular.

Skins of the same line having different roles within that universe isn't really uncommon.

Arclight is all about warriors who were granted light powers. Meanwhile Vel'koz is actually the being that grants the light powers(or at least one of them).

Similarly Karthus is part of the RPG-universe,but he is actually a player who turned into the big bad in it.

Arclight Vel'koz is still part of the Arclight "group" in that universe. He has the light powers, he just grants them to people, as well. It's like how Swain is still a Noxian, even though he's the leader of the nation. Karthus, on the other hand, is part of the RPG universe, but is not part of a specific, named "line" within the universe.

What I'm trying to say is, if Illaoi ends up getting the Battlecast-themed skin, she can still be in the Battlecast universe, but in a different skin line within the universe. It would be like making a skin line for the bad guys in the Star Guardian universe. You wouldn't call them Star Guardians - they would be their own thing. Same for Illaoi - she isn't part of the Battlecast, she is fighting against them, and isn't even fully machinized like they are.

We know that Skarner is part of the brackern just like before And just because you have explanations for Urgot&Xerath doesn't change the fact that they aren't from the void.

Heck riot themselves even offered a small story to explain battlecast Illaoi,as she would actually be an enemy of the battlecast robots.
