What's Zilean's purpose now?

There are many characters who's role in the story is vague without the league, but I don't think Zilean can even interact with people now. The league allowed him to be outside of his tower.

He can leave his tower without the league.

The league only tried to help him with his chrono disease,so in the new lore he'll just have to find a way to cure it on his own.

That's under the assumption it is cannon he has a chrono disease.

Yeah I am going by his old&current lore here.I mean what else do you wanna assume? The opener of this thread assumes something that isn't supported in either canon(which is even contradicted by Vel'kozs lore,as he finds Zileans abandoned tower)

Well pretty much the only reason lore wise that he had the disease was to explain why he went to the league.

I always thought the disease was rather vague and uninteresting too. I don't see why they would keep it.

They shouldn't call it a disease but make it a side-effect of time traveling all the time. His body is always aging so when he returns to his original timeline he looks way older than he should. Hell, at this point, he doesn't even remember what timeline he's from. Make that the turmoil he's forced to face. The only way he can experience life with his loved ones is by traveling through time after they've buried him. The more I think about it, the more interesting the Time factor is.

I feel like Zilean would be better suited as a "Watcher" that's similar to Marvel's Watchers. I think his chronodisease thing is kinda lame. He should just live with it. He ages super fast because he's time traveling all the time so he's spending the majority of his life in other timelines. I like the idea of an old powerful wise teacher that's pulling strings ever so slightly and pushing other champions in a benevolent direction. At least, that's how I see him now.

Oh, and every now and then, when he really needs to, he intervenes and saves champions' lives.
