I just view League of Legends as a soulless vehicle designed to siphon money from its brainwashed consumers before it inevitably crashes and burns at which point its greedy corporate leaders will fade into anonymity and enjoy the rest of their wealthy lives. There's no meaning to any of it and I just enjoy it as mental exercise, not even seeing characters as characters or any different from the minions you kill.
Why do you care that we care about lore is the better question
Lore makes a game more immersive; you know the history behind why everything is happening, how everything came to be, why certain champions are the way that they are, etc. Knowing all this makes a person feel closer to the character / game. It makes it more personal. I think this is why people (myself included) like lore, but to each their own. If that's the way you feel about lore, that's an acceptable opinion.
That being said, League of Legends is a free to play game, and nobody is forced into any purchases to play and enjoy the game. Buying things for league are personal choices, not necessities. I hardly think it's fair to call a business greedy for trying to do what businesses do.
Simple, I like a number of the characters & I'm interested in their world & stories.
