Pikmints2 votesWhile the minions are probably going to go unexplained in the new lore, there are still things like Baron that I'd like to get addressed and perhaps a couple of the jungle monsters. They could be considered entirely non-canon like the minions, but I still see Baron as something with potential that could be tied into the new lore even if some of the monster sketches for the Bilgewater event were far more terrifying than Baron, belittling his previous depictions.

Tesla Effect3 votesMinions are magical constructs, summoned specifically for use in battle. Earliest recorded use of minions for battles was at the battle field known as Summoner's Rift, where ancient sides the Protectorate (Stag crest) and Magelord (Owl crest) summoners fought against each other.
The process of minions spawning needs constant and massive amount of magical energy to be sustained. Minions are not fully sentient beings, rather they are controlled by the summoners who use nexuses. The Nexus structure focuses enough magical energy from powerful crystals for sustained minion spawning and its destruction disrupts and stops the summoning magic.
There are many ways a minion body can be magically constructed, ranging from animated magic scrolls, animated sand, magically animated bolts of cloth, and even sound.
Necromancy is a minion summoning technique that uses dark magic to reanimate corpses. Like ordinary minions they are not fully sentient and are completely controlled by the user who summoned them. Most known practitioners of necromancy come from the Shadow Isles.
Also, while not magically constructed, living minions share many traits with magically constructed minions. Voidlings summoned through (ZzRot Portal) portals are controlled by those who have necessary magical power to use them; one of such known persons is Malzahar. A Celestial Being known as Bard is frequently followed by minion-like spirits known as Meeps that aid him in his tasks (though they are more like companions than outright minions).

You might want to check his champion spotlight if you're unfamiliar with his abilities and such. Using the right combos can grant you a shield or reset cooldowns really fast. He struggles in the early levels when compared to other junglers such as Master Yi or Udyr.

Kadavik2 votesIt was retconned way back at the Shurima event. The league and summoners were removed, they are non canon. This created outrage throughout the story and art forums and the community in general.
Even worse, with the Narrative team in such a mess the retcon was not fully completed with some champion lores still mentioning the institute. Thus narrative was dissolved and its members were transfered to other departments.
Enter foundations, their job is to rebuild the world of Valoran from the ground up and we've seen some of their amazing work with the Bilgewater event.
Tsumikiri1 votesThe league and iow are no longer part of the lore. The narrative team is working on new lore. They claim that without the iow and league forcing certain story lines in characters (e.g. "he does this and that and... uh... goes to the league") they will have the chance to tell better/more interesting stories. Some people agree that this will be fine, others stand by the old lore. But I think that everyone can agree to some extent that this new lore is taking a long time to come out.
