Zhang Qi - The Chi Manipulator (the DBZ champ we all want)
Zhang Qi is a close range battle mage. Able to dish out high ability power AOE damage at close range. Having to be so close to the action with little CC leaves him very vulnerable so he has to rely on his abilities to outplay opponents and avoid damage to stay alive and keep doing damage. His ult has high accessibility but not necessarily powerful, amplifying his base abilities creating a fast and fun 'spell slinger'.
Idea has strong dragonball influences so picture that for champ and vfx. We all grew up on dbz, you know we all want that goku champion. I went with a chinese name since chi/qi/ki is a chinese concept and rito wants dem chinese dollars anyways.
**Q- Hold button to charge up an energy blast with increased AOE on longer charge. **
(Pyke style charge up. 1s max charge. Starts/quick casts size of zigs q-180, scales to ~ziggs w-350, circle shaped. Looks like velkoz E.)
**W- Instantly phase out and reappear a short distance away. Afterwards if an enemy champion is near, can reactivate to shoot a piercing energy beam with .75s stun. **
(Basically like an shorter range ezreal E but with a aim-able lucian q afterwards. Balanced by being very short range teleport. Looks like instant transmission with a lucian-esk q. Only has reactivation if enemy champ is near. Stun is very short but needed since its his only CC in his kit besides E displacement/slow.)
**E- Rise into the air becoming untargetable for .75s while forming and releasing an energy orb that knocks enemies away. At the end (or upon reactivation) explodes knocking away and slowing enemies. **
(A mini xayah R for survivabiity/coolness. Orb functions like a moving ziggs w, knocking enemies away like how vi ult travel works. Ends with a more forceful knock away. looks like a small spirit bomb. damage is only on initial orb, the end/reactive is just for utility doesnt add damage just knock away and 1s slow).
**Ult- Enter in an ascended state of oneness with the chi energy in all things, giving a one time use upgrade to each of his abilities to use within 15s. **
(looks like super saiyan obviously. if each upgraded ability is used before the 15s he leaves the ascended form)
**R->Q - Charge to release an enormous energy blast. **
(Damage is still the same but aoe starts at ziggs w ~350 and scales up to size of slightly smaller ziggs r 500.) ** R->W - Ult activation removes the cooldown on W until it has been cast twice. Energy beam width and stun is increased to 1.25s. ** **R->E- - Rise into the air untargetable for 1.5s to create a larger energy orb that knocks away and explodes with more force. ** (longer untargetable duration, forms genki dama/spirit bomb looking giant orb, pretty strong knock away force, reactivate/end explodes for big knock away with 1.5s slow)
Passive- Auto attacks shoot a barrage of energy attacks in a line outward allowing you to hit multiple enemies with regular attacks. Starting with two projectiles and adding another one for every 100ap.
(Works like a smaller and faster heimer R-E grenade. Outward trajectory in a line cascade of bullets. Extra projectiles don't do extra damage just add 'aoe' to auto attacks. Ex 500 ap he would shoot 7 very small projectiles in a line outwards from him. Think heimers R-E where its 3 orbs as the greneade bounces. Just much smaller and faster.)
Q discussion- Charge up abilities feel good to use. I feel like xerath and vlad sort of miss the impact feeling of a charge up ability but pykes nails it. Holding down the key to get a powered up ability feels good to use. So Zhang Qi's Q will be fun to charge up to get those bigger energy explosions. R-Q will be hard to miss but satisfying charge up huge explosion.
W discussion- Potential for outplays and main survival tool by having an instant teleport. Distance is very short so not frustrating to play against. But W-ing out of the way of an attack and following up with the energy beam blast will also feel great. R-W will be main escape or initiate.
E discussion- I liked the idea of xayah R and wanted it to be more available on a champions kit not just a long cd ultimate. It adds coolness and impact to the ability and adds a unique defensive option. Being a non ultimate he can regularly (if played at high level) dodge attacks which is necessary since he has low cc and low range. The orb knock away effect (displacement) is I think a fun and fair feeling CC effect. It just displaces the enemy very shortly so its not frustrating to play against, but it allows abilities to be interrupted or to make clutch plays to re-position/disrupt the enemy.
R discussion- Who doesnt want to capture that super saiyan feeling in league? It can add a cool visual flare to the character and then has the unique kit design of a transformation ult that just adds a single use powered up version of regular kit abilities. Since it isn't a super strong ult (adds very little damage to kit, mostly bigger aoes and extra utility), I figure it can be a low CD ultimate and have instant activation. This gives a the user a lot of opportunities to go into this super form to make plays. Using R and double tapping W for his biggest distance dash or R-E to survive a bunch of damage thrown his way. R-Q a low hp enemy fleeing as they get caught in the giant AOE or just hitting a ziggs-esk massive aoe in a team fight.
Passive discussion- I feel like AD can go flat ad, lifesteal, attack speed, crit, leathality and it makes slightly different play styles. AP really only has nuke and lackluster on-hit ap. This passive design plays into the on-hit option where his auto attacks, if lined up right, can hit in a large aoe. Making things like nashors, wits end, triforce etc a viable alternative option playstyle.
