Logan - The Arcanic Weaver (Lore/Abilities/Laning/Item Builds)
Logan - The Arcanic Weaver
Lore:
Magic has always been tested and created, reformed and recast, manipulated and abused. This has been the way for centuries, and often has been speculated to have shaped the very world into it's current existence. It is all agreed on though, that the multiple forms of magic have stemmed from the use and misuse of such mystical energy throughout the ages. The more pure the magic used, the greater the lure to taint it with impure magical essence.
Those who dabble in magic are aware of the risks when it comes to such lures. Young Logan, a student from the College of Magic, was unaware of the risks as he pursued his knowledge of the Arcane arts. It was told that arcane magic was one of the primordial elements that infused this world together, and that the pursuit of such a raw magic was both dangerous and uncharted. Only the resilient and sane of minds could even attempt it without losing themselves.
Logan struggled through his studies, often having trouble knowing what to do next from what he had already attempted. His only gift was to see patterns in the magic that noone else could. Using the threads of magic, he could wind together pieces which fit together to create new arcane abilities.
One day Logan received news from his brother about his mother's passing from illness. There was no cure that could have saved her. Logan, upon hearing the news, took to seeking solace in the arcane spells he weaved together. Continuing with his experiments to imbune a weapon with magical power, he did not even realize as the magic began to consume his thoughts. As he weaved the fabrics of magic into the staff, he did not see as the magic began to turn black and bind to his own skin.
The dark arcane magic spread through his skin and through his staff, binding them to each other. Realising his mistake too late, Logan fled the College before they could find his mistake out on their own. As he ran from the school, he heard a voice speaking to him. It came form both around him and within his own mid.
The black staff had turned his own shadow into a living being, one that embodied all the dark desires in Logan's heart. Hearing only the voice of the shade in his mind, he lost all sense of his surroundings, finally coming to a time later. Looking around, he saw himself outside the Institute of War. Signing up to the League of Legends, Logan sought to find a way to understand the magical binding of the staff and how to release it from his grasp, before it consumed him completely.
Abilities
Passive - Shadowstalker Active One - Arcane Spear/Dark Barrage Active Two - Essence/Ravager Active Three - Haunt/Convergence Ultimate - Dispersion
Passive - Shadowstalker
Logan passively conjures a shade that follows and surrounds him in every movement. While the shade is mimicking Logan, the shade consumes magical essence, causing Logan to reduces all incoming magic damage by 10%.
After using an ability, Logan has the option for 2.5 seconds to command his shade to cast an altered ability. Once the shade has cast this ability, he disappears from Logan for 14 seconds (not affected by Cooldown Reduction). If Logan kills an enemy, the cooldown of the shade is reduced by 2 seconds (1 second upon assists).
Active One - Arcanic Spear/Dark Barrage
Logan shoots a bolt of arcanic energy in a line that travels up to 600 unit distance and stops upon colliding with an enemy and explodes in a 275 radius. This deals 40/75/110/145/170 (+0.75 Ability Power) magic damage to all enemies hit and slows them by 14/18/22/26/30% that decays slowly over 3 seconds. Enemy champions take 120/125/130/135/140% damage.
For 2.5 seconds afterwards, Logan can cast Dark Barrage which commands his shade to fire out shadow missles at all enemies that were struck by the Arcanic Spear. Each enemy is hit with three missles, each missle dealing 10/25/40/55/70 (+0.20 Ability Power) magic damage. Enemies farther than 900 units from Logan are out of range from Dark Barrage.
Active Two - Essence/Ravager
Logan passively causes every third strike to deal 30/40/50/60/70 (+0.15 Ability Power) magic damage and reduce the cooldown of his shade by 0.5 seconds. This bonus cooldown reduction on Logan's shade is doubled if used on an enemy champion.
Logan can activate Essence to grant him 20/35/50/65/80% bonus attack speed and causes his basic attacks to be split into three arcane missles for the next 3 attacks. These missles are equal to 110/115/120/125/130% of his attack damage, and is converted into magic damage.
Logan can activate Ravager for 2.5 seconds afterwards, which causes his shade to steal essence with his Essence basic attack missles, granting him back 1.0/1.5/2.0/2.5/3.0% of his missing mana per hit. Logan cannot activate Ravager if all his Essence has been used, and Ravager will cease to be in effect as soon as all the Essence has been used.
Active Three - Haunt/Convergence
Logan commands his shade to latch onto an allied or enemy champion for up to 6 seconds. If it is an allied champion, the shade will apply the magic damage reduction to that new champion and cause it to gain a shield that ramps up in power over 6 seconds by 10/15/20/25/30 (+0.15 Ability Power) per second. If there is any shield left over after 6 seconds, then the shield rapidly decays over 1.5 seconds. If the target is an enemy champion, they take 10/15/20/25/30 (+0.15 Ability Power) magic damage per second for the 6 seconds and causes them to lose 2/2.5/3/3.5/4 magic resist per second.* The magic resist is immediately returned upon the end of the Haunt*.
Within 2.5 seconds, Logan can cast Convergence to command his shade to blink back to him and split Logan's form into two shadows. These shadows dash outwards and forwards, before converging on the target that the shade was originally haunting over 0.75 seconds. This pattern looks similar to that of a diamond. During this time, Logan can still be damaged, but cannot be affected by any crowd control effects. Upon arriving at the allied champion, the shield immediately goes to it's maximum value and no longer ramps up over time, although still lasts up to 6 seconds. If the target is an enemy, the maximum value of the magic damage is dealt immediately to the enemy and their magic resist is lowered by the maximum value for the duration.
Ultimate Ability - Dispersion
Logan passively reduces the maximum cooldown of his shade to 12/10/8 seconds.
Logan creates an arcanic propulsion field around himself for 0.5 secoonds, causing all projectiles to bounce off him and deal 50% reduced damage, while he prepares to cast Dispersion. Upon the end of the cast time, he slams his staff into the ground to cause his propulsion field to explode, dealing 175/250/375 (+0.9 Ability Power) magic damage and knocking all enemies back up to 300/400/500 units away. Stuns, silences, immobilizes, and terrifies can all cancel the channeling of Propulsion and cause it to go on cooldown at 25% of the cooldown value.
Mid Lane:
Logan's power primarily comes from weaving his spells together. Arcane Spear can be used as a good farming tool, as well as a way to punish enemy champions who get caught out in the open. By following up with Dark Barrage, enemies can often sustain heavy damage. Use of Haunt can be used offensively when closing the gap between you and an enemy, evasively if you need to dodge a skillshot coming straight at you, or defensively if an enemy jungler shows up.
Auto attacks are a part of Logan's kit, as it allows him to continually make his shade effective. By combining Essence and Ravager, Logan has the potential to harass enemies with auto attacks while keeping himself out of mana issues consistently. By Converging onto a target after hitting them with Arcane Spear, you can follow up onto them and use Dispersion to deal heavy damage while they are slowed.
Teamfights:
Logan's power in team fights can be measured in his ability to harass enemies from a distance or to deny the attempts of assassins on vulnerable, high priority allies. By Haunting your ally, you can Converge upon them to give them the full power of your shield, while putting yourself in a position to punish the enemy. Use of Dispersion can be used after following up on Haunt with a Convergence to scatter the enemy team, but be wary as hard crowd control effects can stop Logan's ultimate. If that happens, he leaves himself vulnerable to enemy damage.
Item build:
Logan can be utilized in a couple of different ways. By focusing on heavy ability power, Logan can dish out plenty of damage while weaving his spells together against his enemies. The use of Arcane Spear followed by Dark Barrage will create opportunities to follow up with a Convergence and Dispersion to finish them off, or for allies to come in and pick off the low health targets. Attack speed items, such as Nashor's Tooth and Hurricane, can also be viable to go well with Essence and Ravager.
Logan can also be utilized as an offensive caster tank. By taking items that increase his health and resistances while giving himself enough ability power to be a potential threat, Logan can create havoc amongst the enemy team. By engaging directly onto their back line with Convergence, Logan can harass and redirect their high damage enemies. Use of Dispersion to scatter the enemy team is more effective with less risk than to his Ability Power-heavy build.
