Some of these champion creations are from guys who are new to it and just want to share their ideas. Some just want to express a skin idea.

If you downvote them without a reason: Don't. Cause you are just ruining their motivation to express further on this community page.

If you have a reason to downvote it, inform the author first so they can correct it.

You don't want to see potentially bad stuff, then stick to 'Best' and 'Hot' categories. They exist for a reason, and if you downvote posts they become less likely to be viewed by other people who may find them interesting.

I agree. I don't mind my champion concepts getting downvoted for an actually legit reason. What I do mind however is when there isn't really any reason behind it because no one actually tells you WHY they downvote or don't like the champion so you can't even correct it or explain things to them to help them understand.

For example. If someone doesn't like the lore behind the champion, but the kit itself is good then why hate the whole thing? Or if the kit is off a bit, instead of letting the creator know they just automatically downvote.

I've seen some good concepts, but people have hated on them for many reasons, and sometimes no reasons at all.

Or you have the ones going around just downvoting to downvote. It's silly and kinda stupid imo.

Downvoting is a part of the forums, but at least let the creator understand why, or at least if you're going to hate on something, or in a poll if they have one with "Needs tweaks" and then not explain what kinda tweaks....Idk, just wish they would explain instead of thinking the creator is psychic.

Well, technically it's both. The Japanese usually write it as Senpai, but it has also been written as Sempai. In both anime and manga though it is spelled as both. There really is no difference.

Phonetically, only senpai is correct.

In terms of acceptability, both have ground.

But yes, how it's written and said in the actual language being referred does take priority. As that's how the derivative comes into form.

Technically, "senpai" wouldn't be right under any language, but it's used for practicality, as it is the closest way we have of expressing it using only English.

What would people think if Riot made this change to the forums:

Players who up voted or down voted had a little text box come up that was required to give a short reason why they voted this way.
The creator of the page can click on a separate little box/link on their page that took them to the history of the votes.
The history of the votes would include the name of the voter, which way they voted, and why they voted this way.

This would give:

Players with proper intentions on the forum a chance to give feedback, advice, and other comments relatable to the post.
Players who consistently down or up vote in a short amount of time can have their texts reviewed by a Riot official for comments of non-serious, non-relatable natures.
The chance to thread through consistent down voters for no reason and give them a chance to change or be banned from the forums for good.

I think writing is a little much, but I think forcing people to select why they downvoted a thread off of a list like they do on the Hearthstone forums (trolling, abuse, off topic) would work pretty well.

It's a lot easier than sifting through paragraphs of text, but the results will be the same. The assholes who abuse the boards' downvote system to silence criticisms get banned, and the boards gets healthier in the long run.

No longer will people get downvoted for having a different opinion, and circlejerking and hiveminding on the boards will be a thing of the past.

That's a great idea! Having the option to had quick text in an Other: option can be an add on to a similar thing to what you're suggesting. I like the idea!

I totally agree with this!! I've had a few concepts that were in the 20 upvotes but lately all my concepts can't even become a positive number for some reason....and the poll even says that the majority LIKES it....

It's quite alright, want to help show people what makes good design as there are quite a bit of rookie mistakes being made in a lot of the concepts. They just need a nudge in the right direction.

That exact thing happened with my post. I scrolled down and notice an abnormal amount of '0' and '-1' votes so this post was created through that.

I suppose not huh... they should try PLAYING league instead of trolling the forums.

I agree entirely. keeps happening to my threads (always two downvotes with absolutely no reasoning behind them.)

The voting up/down that exists on the site is a good system, in that the community itself filters out the drek. the issue, though, is that people can abuse it.

I try to leave a critique on anything that I downvote, because if I downvote it then it is (as it is now) not a viable concept.

unless it's threads like "give me a skin" or "nerf [insert least over powered champ in league]"

This shit is why I stopped making concepts. I remember back when my most upvoted concept was front page with 50 upvotes. Now, I'd be lucky if it doesn't get buried within 5 minutes, let alone 50.

Riot really needs to do something about downvote abuse, because this is part of the reason why the boards are in such a sorry state.

Adding onto this little thread, I had two posts so far in this concepts thread. One (which I've been sinking a couple of hours into now) is a champion concept. My issue is, at one point, I had six or seven upvotes. One was myself, it automatically does that, and the second was my buddy who is helping me brain storm. The others were anons that I appreciate. I finish typing a section, save it, and I see I'm down to two upvotes, no new comments. To someone who is working hard to come up with creative ideas that could lead to new content within League of Legends, that's heart breaking and, to me personally, makes me not want to finish. I know it's this community's nature to troll/badmouth and generally be toxic, but come on. Use a little common sense and show some respect to the people posting here an TRYING to improve this game without working for Riot themselves.

A rule that should be added into the boards is, if you don't post, you can't vote.

Not necessarily no, but if the title is too vague or isn't appealing at all it will be down voted.

Edit: to follow up with this look at any book or any newspaper article. The title is what gets the viewers attention. It is what draws someone to read what you have written. "Don't judge a book by its cover." That sentence is bullshit even though it is something you shouldn't do. That still makes it bullshit. If you pitch me an idea for a book called "Goat's Droppings: The Tail of Mitsy and her Lamb" I am not going to buy that book. I wouldn't even borrow it from a friend.

I'm not saying I am a person who just down votes because the title is bad but I do just keep scrolling. I am trying to say maybe if you have a ton of downvotes and no views you should realize what the problem is and fix the issue. Which happens to be the title.

If you are pitching a champion name with the champions title and you have downvotes and no views then they simply do not like the name and its not worth reading. Shorten it up and cut out the crap or just put in the name. Who cares if you have 3 posts about the same concept with 3 different titles one of them will hook the viewers. Its really a simple trial and error lesson in journalism. You'll see college newspapers with the same story in it 5 times all with different titles to see which one was more appealing.

This thread with these complaints are ridiculous though. You should have just made a brainstorm thread or something to get some help for a title that would be appealing.

I've tried creating brainstorming threads before on the old forums didn't work and I feel creating multiple threads trying to figure out a good title is a waste of both time and space. Plus it would bring the creator further down from all the downvotes each one of those might bring.

Yes but its trial and error. Look at everyone who has been successful ever. They never got it on the first try and they were always put down thru every mIstake.
