Some of these champion creations are from guys who are new to it and just want to share their ideas. Some just want to express a skin idea.

If you downvote them without a reason: Don't. Cause you are just ruining their motivation to express further on this community page.

If you have a reason to downvote it, inform the author first so they can correct it.

Sorry if this had nothing to do with you, everyone else is doing a great job keep it up!

I agree. I don't mind my champion concepts getting downvoted for an actually legit reason. What I do mind however is when there isn't really any reason behind it because no one actually tells you WHY they downvote or don't like the champion so you can't even correct it or explain things to them to help them understand.

For example. If someone doesn't like the lore behind the champion, but the kit itself is good then why hate the whole thing? Or if the kit is off a bit, instead of letting the creator know they just automatically downvote.

I've seen some good concepts, but people have hated on them for many reasons, and sometimes no reasons at all.

Or you have the ones going around just downvoting to downvote. It's silly and kinda stupid imo.

Downvoting is a part of the forums, but at least let the creator understand why, or at least if you're going to hate on something, or in a poll if they have one with "Needs tweaks" and then not explain what kinda tweaks....Idk, just wish they would explain instead of thinking the creator is psychic.

I down vote in the hopes that the forums will automatically learn what I like similar to Netflix and stop showing me crap. But it doesn't seem to be working.

What would people think if Riot made this change to the forums:

Players who up voted or down voted had a little text box come up that was required to give a short reason why they voted this way.
The creator of the page can click on a separate little box/link on their page that took them to the history of the votes.
The history of the votes would include the name of the voter, which way they voted, and why they voted this way.

This would give:

Players with proper intentions on the forum a chance to give feedback, advice, and other comments relatable to the post.
Players who consistently down or up vote in a short amount of time can have their texts reviewed by a Riot official for comments of non-serious, non-relatable natures.
The chance to thread through consistent down voters for no reason and give them a chance to change or be banned from the forums for good.

There's like 2-3 people that downvote every single Champion Concept, whether or not it's good or bad

Dunno why they do it, but they seem to have made it into a habit

thanks man, cause right now i have 3 champion posts and a skin post all of which are in negative numbers, but no one has left any negative comments are criticism saying why

I agree entirely. keeps happening to my threads (always two downvotes with absolutely no reasoning behind them.)

The voting up/down that exists on the site is a good system, in that the community itself filters out the drek. the issue, though, is that people can abuse it.

I try to leave a critique on anything that I downvote, because if I downvote it then it is (as it is now) not a viable concept.

unless it's threads like "give me a skin" or "nerf [insert least over powered champ in league]"

This shit is why I stopped making concepts. I remember back when my most upvoted concept was front page with 50 upvotes. Now, I'd be lucky if it doesn't get buried within 5 minutes, let alone 50.

Riot really needs to do something about downvote abuse, because this is part of the reason why the boards are in such a sorry state.

Adding onto this little thread, I had two posts so far in this concepts thread. One (which I've been sinking a couple of hours into now) is a champion concept. My issue is, at one point, I had six or seven upvotes. One was myself, it automatically does that, and the second was my buddy who is helping me brain storm. The others were anons that I appreciate. I finish typing a section, save it, and I see I'm down to two upvotes, no new comments. To someone who is working hard to come up with creative ideas that could lead to new content within League of Legends, that's heart breaking and, to me personally, makes me not want to finish. I know it's this community's nature to troll/badmouth and generally be toxic, but come on. Use a little common sense and show some respect to the people posting here an TRYING to improve this game without working for Riot themselves.

A rule that should be added into the boards is, if you don't post, you can't vote.

i post an idea.. .. gets down voted often with no explanation. would rather those people not read the post then just try and remove it because they are salty or would only up vote if riot approved.

Nothing quite like 2 downvotes with no comments to kill any motivation I might have for hanging around and posting stuff. I guess people don't like giant enemy crabs any more.
