Sigil, the first concept to stand a chance of realism

This is Sigil, the biggest chance of a community project becoming real that I'm making a thread about it because the creators haven't. As far as I can tell, the only thing that Riot needs to do is code him in and add movement.

I'll let the work speak for itself.

Oh there's a lot of shit riot needs to do.

Fix his kit which is honestly a mess. Get VO work done. etc etc etc.

It's incredibly well done but to look at it and go "JUST CODE IT ITS FINE" is a far cry. Amazing work but I'd hardly say this is a complete project.

Nikushimi Zero1/7/2016, 9:22:52 AM27 votes

Definitely impressive work. With the models and everything else. Wish I had the skills to do all that.

I do think it is quite a bit presumptuous and rude to say it is the FIRST champion to have any chance. That's quite rude to all the others who have worked hard on their champions.

Whether champions have a chance or not none should ever be looked down upon like that.

Still, +1 to those who created him.

SpecterVonBaren1/7/2016, 5:46:38 PM19 votes

Not really worth, while the presentation is top notch, the actual kit for this champion isn't very good. His kit is more a bunch of random skills thrown together because of being cool than having a cohesive point to them. If he was the main character of a single player game then his kit could work but in League champions are supposed to be focused on either a theme for their character or a function that benefits their team.

Sigil is too much of a generalist with a shit ton of mobility, making him a champ that everyone would pick if his numbers were even just average. Tons of CC, infinite scaling, tons of mobility, good utility, they failed to give him any kind of weakness. I've seen a lot of better champion concepts on the board that were nothing but text, this champ is just really flashy with its presentation.

Splision1/7/2016, 8:50:28 AM17 votes

Even if Sigil doesn't become a champ in league I still want the creators to get the attention that they deserve.

If someone disagrees with you he is not a ''downvote troll''

Sozan51/7/2016, 2:20:37 PM11 votes

Uhh...

You know that Riot have strict policy about using user-created content? I am quite sure that they already stated on multiple occassions that they will never use anything (be it champions, skins or even artwork) that wasn't created by them. However, they take suggestions from users from time to time, so don't lose hope.

Anyway, I really like the lore and the visuals of the champion. Skillset... Not so much.

Tough Guy1/7/2016, 5:44:50 PM8 votes

You should be a little bit more polite in respects to the artist. Going out and telling people that they are, "A downvote troll" and no other concept stands a chance is insulting to those who disagree with your point of view or the artist's work.

Back to the topic however... I don't believe this skin will ever see the rift. Riot is very very selective and while the artist shows potential to work for Riot and their concept art team; concept art from the forums are extremely rare to come into light. Dunk-master Darius is a prime example and the only example. Originally it was just a skin concept, but Riot loved the idea to work on it YEARS later. Champions are a different story and a whole new ball game though. They require a lot of research and balancing to ensure they have a spot in the Rift.

I'm really sick of stacking champs and junglers that 'HAVE TO' clear camps

And is this page missing half of his kit or what? R says it changes his skills but nothing else is said about them

Your attitude is crap, too, have a "troll downvote"

PAPÓ ROMBOLÓJA1/7/2016, 1:30:03 PM5 votes

OMG how can they mess up the showcase of such an amazing work AHHHH. In the skills section (on their website) the ultimates name is written wrong and also there's the last line, quote: His skills also change: AND THERE'S NOTHING AFTER THAT (IS THIS ONLY FOR ME IF YES PLS SEND ME THE REST) Also not a bad concept but I hate that because eweryone is so overwhelmed by the amazing job they done with the lore and model and ewerything that they forget to look at the skillset of the champ and really criticise that.

A Liberal1/8/2016, 4:33:21 AM4 votes

Yeah... I mean I love the fact that he's SUPER well done, the website, model, so much effort put into it but... his kit is so... bad. Some of the text-only champion concepts here on the boards are better.

I would LOVE so see sigil, but I would want an entirely different kit.

FantasySniper1/8/2016, 12:07:42 AM3 votes

The passive isn't really a good idea at all, but the rest of his kit an' lore an' shit sounds amazing.

FloRaider421/7/2016, 9:10:45 AM3 votes

Not really my cup of tea, but the creators definetly deserve attention for this project They put a lot of work into the artwork, model, lore and website. I just wish they focused a bit more on gameplay summoner 31

Drugoth1/7/2016, 10:29:52 AM3 votes

The amount of different fields that were covered by the creators of this is remarkable. They have a fully fleshed out champion page. The only things they're missing is model animations and ability preview videos. A musical score wouldn't hurt either. Then you'd have a fully fleshed champion right there.

Transgressor1/7/2016, 4:33:29 PM3 votes

So we are either blindly upvoting, or are labeled trolls?

But, what if we have an actual opinion on this? I guess those are not allowed then.

As far as I can tell, the only thing that Riot needs to do is code him in and add movement.

And then who gets credit and money? The creators or Riot? Because even the coding can be done by fellows interested and passionate enough; so passionate in fact that they'd actually do it for free. Riot's literally redundant. And then they get a served champion with the ability to monetize from it while the original creators get "the recognition they deserve"?

Haha, reminds me the treatment Graphic Designers get: "payed in exposure" ayy lmao.

Rigbum1/7/2016, 5:27:42 PM3 votes

I dunno the ult just kind of seems randomly thrown it, it really doesn't make sense thematically or kit wise... otherwise he seems cool.

Photos of Ghosts1/7/2016, 6:01:48 PM3 votes

Eh. Full of grammar and spelling mistakes, pretty bad writing style. Cool visuals aren't the only important thing to be taken seriously.

Decrit1/8/2016, 3:26:42 PM3 votes

Already said it in another post, so i repeat myself here.

This is a piece of work done by people that wanted to exercitate and show off their own skills. Said skills can go from graphic design, model design, coding, writing, collaboration ( yeah, the ability to collaborate is quite an important skill ) and, in my opinion, in that regard is done quite magnificently, professional level i dare say.

However, take it for what it is: this is not a champion, it is the presentation of a champion concept, which is very differently from anything we will ever see from Riot because it lacks the practical part - it will never be executed beyond this. The whole champion thing is just an excuse to work on the integration of different skills - many artists can do art, but not always they are good at doing art with a practical purpose.

The kit is obviously the worst part of it, but because it simply was not part of the skills that were meant to be shown with this project. This can be seen because next to the kit there are no credits, and when they show the development process they do not absolutely mention any kit proposal - os just something thrown here to show off what the champion is supposed to do, and is done in a such way that shames everything else sadly.

In my opinion the fact that they wanted to add an almost-filler kit is a far worse idea than adding a lacking kit because it diverges the focus on something that is not the point of the work. As i told you, this is not a full champion, so it is not forced to have an enstabilished kit, it could simply have few lines of text showing what he is capable of. In my opinion the kit stands as the most important part of the champion, but to each its own i guess.

Sp, TL;DR : for the readers, don' t judge too much harshly the kit, take it with a pinch of salt. To the developers, as i said, next time think twice on what adding to your work and with what confidence you do that, because it can cause a lot of divergence like this case.

TheTarians1/8/2016, 3:57:45 AM2 votes

I dislike the actual kit, kind of heavily... mostly since the W and E both seem too much like J4. But the idea seems cool, and I like it.

dunkeroni1/7/2016, 3:26:35 PM2 votes

"the only thing that Riot needs to do is code him in and add movement." That right there is the big part.

Bladerunner77771/8/2016, 5:57:14 AM2 votes

it looks like Black Panther mixed with Greninja

The Loveless1/8/2016, 11:41:19 AM2 votes

In the many years that C&C has been up, that's a bold fcking claim, mate. Work was done, and the visuals are good, but the kit is incoherent. The champ needs more work.

GreenLore1/8/2016, 1:16:41 PM2 votes

Overall I have to say that whoever made this did a really good job. Especially the splash art looks gorgeous And while the lore is written a bit weirdly,it is kinda cool seeing how he and his kind were the basis for creating Zac

However that said,it is not perfect.I have mainly 2 points that I think need some improvements(I didn't read the lore so I dunno about that): 1.The general theme of the champ. He is a frog-man with a staff and thats pretty much it.His kit revolves completely about his staff and a bit about the small guy gathering fireflys. But neither being a staff-user(MonkeyKing),nor collecting small glowing guys as a power up(Bard) are really unique, its stuff that we have already in the game,so he lacks a bit when it comes to having a unique theme. And while we don't have a frog champ in the game,we do have TahmKench who certainly resembles a frog and like I said, the fact that he is a frog isn't really a part of his kit.

2.Speaking of his kit, that could need some work too. Not being able to autoattack when you don't have a staff kinda sucks, yes you can reactivate the ability to get it back, but it still takes away some basic options from you. His ult should definetly be changed as the way it is,it is just a different quinn ult(dunno if this was designed before or after quinns rework),with less channeling, but only limited "fuel",not to mention that he is already extremely mobile(he can jump towards his staff and get a ms boost for it),the ult also mentions that while he uses it,his skills change, but the changed skills aren't listed anywhere.I also think that the ult kind of feels out of place, sigil looks like such a mystical fighter, that having him surf on his staff simply seems a bit out of place. Then there is the problem that his passive and thus his ult is completely useless on Dominion or Aram(as they lack any jungle monsters).

Intone1/8/2016, 9:31:35 PM2 votes

Honestly the art and everything is cool, aweesome that they went this far with a champion concept, but when it comes to the champion's abilities, he's very stale. He has no crowd control, as a jungler. His silence seems to be targeted (is it? this isn't even specified very well) and if it is, there's no way such a mechanic will ever work its way into the game again, after Riot literally removed all targeted silences from the game. What are his cooldowns like? What's most important when it comes to champion design is the champion's gameplay. I wish they had focused on that aspect more.

I dislike the kit but like everything else even the chromas

Captain Astora1/12/2016, 11:55:05 PM1 votes

Average-Good Champion Creations skills. Awesome Web Design.

Doesn't mean he is the chance. Darius was based off a Fan-Submission and when he came out there was hell to pay from the people fallowing it's creation.

HaugheyPuck991/8/2016, 4:52:33 PM1 votes

Visuals are done really well, but the kit itself still needs some work. Also "Marsh Warden" should really be changed. When I hear the word warden I immediately think of thresh every time. Maybe something like "Marsh Guardian", or "Overseer of the Wetlands" instead.
