The League of Legends MMO: Broken Dreams... (LONG/NON-TOXIC)
I know not many people will see this, or care, doesn't matter, I just want to confirm I am not the only upset one, here.
In this post, I will ramble, for maybe very long, I just want to get this out of my chest.
----Me.
_I joined League of Legends years ago, I have over 2500 hours in the game, I have given blood, sweat and tears into it, love, hate, everything. I do not really play this game anymore, but, this might sound weird, I have become attached to a lot of things, from personalities (streamers, pro-players, friends....), to the characters, the design.... The Lore... Even when the lore was broken, I didn't care, I could spend hours, sitting on my bed, reading them, on the low-tier Acer laptop I used to play League on... I am still part of the community, I still follow patch notes... Watch streams, and especially, read the lore... _ _You can imagine how excited I've been lately, League of Legends's lore has been evolving, improving, Riot has started putting so much love and care into the lore... Spending hours and hours just, losing myself, in the League of Legends Universe site... Just exploring their world as best as I can with what I have. _
I have always dreamed of a League of Legends MMO, not just any MMO, a MMO that could plunge into League of Legends's ever-evolving lore, and forge it, with us, with our help...
_You can also imagine, my disappointment, when Tryndamere confirmed that the idea, concept of a LoL-themed MMO, was nothing but a joke... _
----The Dream.
I, want to be a Demacian. In the game, I mean... I, or you, could be anything in this game, of course, a Noxian, Demacian, Pilltovian, Zaunite(?), a pirate from Bilgewater... A demonic creature from the Shadow Isles... Maybe even a merciless Void predator... What do you want to be? Think about it, really, do. _ I know what I'd like to be... I would love to be one of Garen's trustworthy soldiers, an official soldier, of the proud Demacian army, I want to fight for him, for Jarvan, for Justice, for my homeland, for my fallen friends, I want to go through a hard, muscle-soring training, I want to gain ranks, maybe become a rider, get my own Demacian Raptor? I want to spawn in Demacia and be amazed by the architecture, I want to walk around the Grand Plaza, I want to talk and interact with some of my favorite champions..._ _ Then, I would be given my first quest, what would it be? Maybe protect and support a village from the Nightmare Creatures, maybe I'll fight alongside the Dauntless Vanguard!? That would be awesome..._
In this game, which has been almost fully developed, in my head, you don't need to be a fighter, a soldier...
You see, what's cool about League of Legend's lore is that, every character, whatever they do, whoever they are, wherever they came from, are all still a part of the lore, they are a part of Runeterra. You can be a Blacksmith, but in my game, you don't just craft weapons by putting ingredients in a grid, you have to go collect, or buy your resources, yourself, because it's your life, in a lot of MMO's the problem is that if you don't want to be a fighter, you tend to be assigned to a very dull and shallow system, in my game, as a Blacksmith, you get out of Demacia, or wherever you're from, and you go explore and collect, then, you may come back to your little shop, on the side of the road, in a small village, or even in a bigger city once you've earned it. In my game, as a farmer, you get your own land, you go buy your seeds, and you start your farm, but of course, as a farmer, you need to have a sense of business, some charisma, you need to make a living off of this. _ _ In my game, each faction has their own strengths and weaknesses, their own resources, their own variations of the similar base classes, their own architectures and lore. Of course as a Demacian, you'd get access to a complex, elite, efficient training, making you a fearful warrior, but as the lore dictates, Demacians may be the strongest warriors, they are also very few, for a single Demacian there might be 3 or 4 Noxians. As a Demacian you'll get access to the legendary Petricite, Demacia's signature magic-nullifying mineral. But while you have Petricite, in Zaun, they have Hextech technology, etc... Creating a complex, compelling ecosystem.
My game focuses more on the PvE side of things, but, as any MMO, there are PvP elements, imagine, a high-ranked Demacian officer gets assassinated, the evidence points towards Noxus, a war breaks out... the beautiful green lands and mountains between Demacia and Noxus become a bloody murderous race for victory, as a Blacksmith, this is where you'll make the most money, as a farmer, this is where you'll become important...
The end of the war is defined by the weight each faction has put in.
_After the war, I feel like taking a well-deserved break, I feel, like exploring Ionia, and its ever-so-compelling lands, its beautiful architecture. I want to meet new people, see what there is to see, do what there is to do. I wonder what their mounts are like, what their booze tastes like... _ ----The End.
I just want to live the world of Runeterra...
But I'll never be able to... At least according to Marc Merrill.
I know Riot doesn't need to make another game, let alone such an ambitious one, they make so much money off of eSports... _ But I remember a time, when, every time a Rioter would talk about this fairly new League of Legends game, I would know they had a spark in their eyes, a spark of passion, of love, of duty._
I just want to be a Demacian.
