I wanted to share a champ design (an enchanter support) I made over the past couple of months. I know we have one approaching very soon, but if I had to design the champ, this is how I would do it! The original theme was a little different, but I was able to transform it to fit the theme of our next champ (based on the little information we have: an enchanter support with a spellbook, 'purrr', potentionally an Academy skin). So here goes:

Name: Meryna

Race: Yordle, female, carrying a spellbook in one hand. On the other side is a pouch/bag. She also carries a belt with little pouches and potions. Has a hood with cat-like ears coming out of it.

Role: enchanter support, ranged

Abilities: PASSIVE (THE ALCHEMY APPRENTICE):

ALCHEMY While standing still in a bush or near a jungle camp, Meryna will scout for and harvest Herbs. She can carry up to 4/5/6/7/8 Herbs in her pouch (lvl 1/4/7/10/13) which she uses to enhance her abilities. Additionally, she can buy Herbs in the shop (5g per Herb, there are 3 different Herbs, denoted by their color: yellow, teal, purple). (You can see the Herbs on a little screen above your abilities and summoner spells ,like Kindred and Neeko, but this time only colored circles instead of the champion portrets).

APPRENTICE: Meryna also closely works together with the Shopkeeper, which allows him so sell enhanced potions Meryna made to her allies (75g):

  • Potion 1: Restore 175HP over 15 seconds and gain 5 adaptive force for the duration

  • Potion 2: Gain 10 armor, magic resistance and movement speed for 25 seconds.

  • Potion 3: Restore 100HP over 5 seconds and gain 40% slow reduction for the duration.

Q (CHARM OF GREATER LULLING) (cd: 9) (mana: 55/60/65/70/75) Meryna casts a bolt from her book, hitting the first enemy champion in a curved line, dealing 80/115/150/185/220 (+0,45 AP) damage and silencing them for 0,75/1/1,25/1,5/1,75 seconds.

  • Yellow Herb: Additionally slow the target by 40% for the same durarion.

(Meryna automatically uses Herbs when they are available in her pouch. This way, players have to think about the order of the abilities they want to use since not every ability will be enhanced during a full rotation.)

W (POTION EXPLOSION) (cd: 17/15,5/14/12,5/11) (mana: 70) Meryna throws a vial at target location, releasing a special mixture of gas for 4 seconds. Allies standing in the cloud restore 20/30/40/50/60 (+0,125 AP) health per second (max: 80/../240 (+0,5 AP)) while enemies suffer the same amount of damage instead. Deals 25% reduced damage to minions and monsters.

  • Teal Herb: Additionally heal your allies in the area for 5-7% of their maximum health over the durarion.

  • Purple Herb: add in a poison which reduces all healing (of every source, including HP regen) enemies receive by 60%

E (SPELL OF CONCEILING VEIL) (cd: 24/21/18/15/12) (mana: 70/80/90/100/110)

First cast: Meryna begins charging a spell for a maximum of 1,5 seconds.

Second cast: Meryna shields an allied champion and grants it attack speed for 3 seconds, based on the duration of the channel. Shield value: minimum: 40/60/80/100/120 (+0,2 AP), maximum: 80/120/160/200/240 (+0,4 AP) Attack speed: 30/35/40/45/50% to 15/17,5/20/22,5/25% based on the duration of the channel --> this means that fully channeling the ability will give a bigger shield but less attack speed and short tapping the ability will give a small shield but bigger AS steroid.

  • Yellow + Teal Herb: after a 0,5 second delay, also shroud the target in Invisibility for 0,75 seconds.

R: ULTIMATE INCATATION OF COLORS! (cd: 130/115/100) (mana: 100) Meryna casts the most powerful spell in her book and conjures a small rift at target location. Over the next 5 seconds, 6/7/9 fireworks/sparks will fly out of the rift and home in on nearby enemy champions, each spark dealing 50/75/100 (+0,2 AP) damage. The sparks will try to target champions they haven't hit yet, but each subsequent hit against the same target deals 50% damage. (The area of targeting is slightly smaller than Trundle's Frozen Domain)

  • Yellow Herb: 2 of the sparks will be yellow, stunning enemies hit for 1 second

  • Teal Herb: 2 of the sparks become teal, dealing true damage instead

  • Purple Herb: 2 of the sparks will be purple, reducing their target resistances by 30% for 3 seconds.

(This ability will always try to use at least 1 of every Herb. Every Herb used thereafter will be in the order of Yellow -> Teal -> Purple)

I do think this champion has a few 'innovating' concepts Riot hasn't touched yet. I'm glad how the micro/individual ablities turned out: You have to think about the order in which you want to cast your abilities because of the Herbs. You can use your W and E both offensively and defensively, but because of the moderate long cooldowns, you have to make decisions how you want to use them for that specific scenario.

The macro of the champion might be a little less than the champions of today's standards. I mean that there isn't a great combination and synergy between the abilities (unlike Sylas or Zoe), but an enchanter support doesn't really need that. The abilities do complement eachother though and are all useful during both the laning phase and teamfights.

So, what do you guys think? Any feedback is welcome!

Seems quite strong tbh and I kinda read it all quickly but later at the game she'd be a big big carry with her abilities and the fact that she could buy herbs for such a low price or buy them at all once she's full build is pretty terrifying ngl but overall the champion idea isn't bad. Personally I wouldn't like to see Riot make a champion like this because they wouldn't be able to balance it at all so they'd probably put it into the trash can.
