Please enjoy my latest champion concept - Big Wrex, the Terrible Thunder Lizard!

This champion was inspired by the release of Gnar. The little pre-historic yordle has plenty of friends, but he needs some enemies!

Big Wrex - the Terrible Thunder Lizard "Me King!" http://goldenyak.com/images/colorwork/big_wrex.png

---Lore--- The terrifying beast Big Wrex has emerged from Valoran's ancient past following a clash of magical energies that tore apart the very fabric of time itself. Unleashing his primal fury upon the present era, Big Wrex has come to let everyone know who's boss - particularly one upstart little yordleGnar who challenged him in the past.

---Stats--- Primary - Fighter Secondary - Tank Attack - 7 Defense - 7 Ability - 1 Difficulty - 6 Range - Melee

---Abilities---

-Me King!- Innate Bonus Attack Damage - 5 / 10 / 15 Damage Reduction - 3% / 6% / 9% Enemy Movement Speed Reduction - 10% / 15% / 20% Enemy Armor Reduction - 8 / 16 / 24

Big Wrex is in charge and won't let anyone forget it. When Big Wrex kills an enemy, enemies within 400 are afflicted with Primal Fear, reducing their movement speed and armor for 4 seconds. Big Wrex gains bonus attack damage and bonus damage reduction for the duration. If Big Wrex kills an enemy champion, Large minion, or Large or Epic monster, the effects of Primal Fear are all doubled for the duration.

-Thunder Stomp (Q) - Cost: 80 mana / Range: 150 radius / Cooldown: 16/14/12/10/8 Physical Damage - 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 (+4% of maximum health) Stun Duration Duration - 0.5 / 0.75 / 1 / 1.25 / 1.5

Big Wrex angrily stomps the ground, dealing a burst of damage to nearby enemies and slowing them briefly. This ability may be cast twice more within 10 seconds (1.2s non-reducible internal cooldown). Targets hit by all three casts are stunned instead of slowed. Can be cast while moving.

-Primal Rage (W) - Cost: 50/55/60/65/70 mana / Cooldown: 18/16.5/15/13.5/12 Movement Speed Increase - 25% / 35% / 45% / 55% / 65%

Big Wrex lets out a ferocious roar and charges across the battlefield. Wrex charges in the direction of the pointer for 2s with increased movement speed. Big Wrex can move over units while charging. If Big Wrex passes over enemy units, they are swept up in his charge and carried along with him until his charge is completed, but can still cast and attack as normal.

Crowd control and stun effects do not take effect until Big Wrex has completed his charge. If Big Wrex runs into terrain or other obstacles he will stop his charge early.

**-Terrorize (E) **- Cost: 35/45/55/65/75 mana / Cooldown: 15 Max Stack Amount - 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7

Big Wrex unleashes all of his prehistoric fury on the enemy.

Passive Big Wrex gains stacks of **Terrorize **with every attack. Stacks last for 6 seconds and are refreshed with every attack. Big Wrex gains 1% damage reduction for every stack of Terrorize.

Active With at least 3 stacks of Terrorize, Big Wrex can activate this skill. When activated, all stacks of Terrorize are consumed. For the next 1 second per stack removed, Big Wrex's auto-attacks will activate his passive, Me King!. Stacks of Terrorize cannot be gained while this ability is active or on cooldown.

-Tyrant's Tantrum (R) - Cost: 120 mana / Range: 275 radius / Cooldown: 125/110/90

Big Wrex throws a tantrum, causing an earthquake in the immediate vicinity. The earthquake releases 3 shockwaves, 1 every 0.75 seconds. Each shockwave deals damage and reduces enemy movement speed by 25% (stacking to 75% if struck by 3 waves). A 4th shockwave is then released after 1s, causing double damage and knocking up enemies.

Big Wrex is able to move while this ability is active, with movement speed reduced by 85%. Tyrant's Tantrum may be re-cast at any time to immediately release the 4th shockwave and end the ability early.

---Background--- The King stood tall atop his mountain and surveyed his kingdom below. He tilted his massive head back and roared, his cry echoing across the jungle for miles. The sound of frantic crashing drifted up from the trees as his subjects wisely fled. They knew to fear the sound of their King's voice. Especially when he was upset. Which he was. He was upset because he was bored.

The King had been bored for *days *now, ever since his last fight with the Rival. They'd clashed up north where the land was cold and white all the time, fighting tooth and claw for hours. The King rumbled with contentment at the memory - that had been a *good *fight. The ground had split under his thunderous footsteps and the mountains had trembled at his furious bellows, and he'd been just about to finish the Rival off when all of that cold white stuff had come pouring over them and *spoiled *the whole thing. By the time the King had gotten himself free, the Rival was nowhere to be seen, and the King had been cold and fed up and so he'd gone home.

The Rival hadn't followed to finish their fight - that had never happened before. The King considered going to the Rival's territory and gobbling up a few of the tiny furry weakling things that were the Rival's kin - doing that usually got the Rival's attention. But then he noticed something strange.

There was a *hole *in the air. Hanging right there in front of him, glowing and shimmering like it owned the whole jungle. The King roared at it, but the hole didn't seem to notice. He'd tried biting it, but it just made his mouth tingle. Curious, he'd tried stepping on it, but wound up stepping *through *it, and he'd seen all kinds of colors he'd never seen before and his whole body had tingled, and then he was suddenly somewhere that he'd never *been *before.

He noticed two strange creatures nearby - one a scrawny, gangly tall creature with a face full of white fur and a big loud clanking thing on its back.Zilean The other creature had a big glowing eye and limbs like wiggly snakes and was floating around in the air.Velkoz They looked like they were fighting, but instead of doing it with claws and fangs they were throwing fire and light at each other that made the air tingle, but the King supposed that with such puny little bodies they couldn't be expected to fight properly. And then suddenly they were gone, vanishing in a bright flash of light that made his eyes hurt.

Now the King was *really *mad. The Rival was missing, and that dumb hole had taken him far from his kingdom, and the trees around here were all wrong, and those stupid tiny creatures hadn't fought properly and they'd left him here alone, and his eyes stung and he'd just about *had *it. Suddenly, he caught a scent on the breeze. He lifted his huge head and breathed deeply. He *knew *that scent.

The Rival!Gnar This was where it had gotten to. It was somewhere in this new land, probably wasting time fighting with all these new creatures. Well, the King would have something to say about that... Before setting off to follow the Rival's scent, the King tilted his head back and roared. He listened with satisfaction to the sounds of nearby creatures scampering away at high speed. Good. At least *some *things in this new land recognized a King when they heard one. He'd deal with the ones who didn't soon enough.

---Interactions---

Gnar - "Hee hee! Shu-gi bo-zo! Shu-gi bo-zo!" Wrex - "Me not bozo! Me king!"

Wrex - "You not king! You crunchy-lunch!" Jarvan IV - "Beast, you'll not stand against me."

Trundle - "I'm the only king around here!" Wrex - "Graarh, me not like cold!"

---Skin Ideas---

-Mecha-Wrex - Battlecast-style robo-dino. -King Wrex - Fancy robes and a tiny crow atop a regal Wrex.

I really like it. Reminds me of Tyrantrum, the pokemon.

-Me King!- Innate Big Wrex is in charge and won't let anyone forget it. When Big Wrex kills an enemy, nearby enemies are afflicted with Primal Fear, reducing their attack speed and movement speed for 5 seconds (3 for heroes). Big Wrex gains temporary health and attack power for every enemy afflicted with Primal Fear for 7/8/9 seconds.

Can be triggered every 18 seconds.

I really like this ability, actually. It fits the "giant dinosaur being pretty damn scary" thing nicely. For clarity's sake, however, I'd make the duration the same on both champion's and minions alike: it's weird tracking multiple durations on the same ability. I'm also concerned about it causing Big Wrex to automatically push lanes whether or not he wants to: if enemy minions have decreased attack speed, Big Wrex's wave will start winning by default. I do sort of like that idea though: the big dinosaur can't HELP but be aggressive. I approve.

I'm sort of wondering if attack speed is even the way to go...the problem with MS/AS decreases is characters can't run well, and they lose their ability to fight back. Losing MS and armor might be better: it makes them vulnerable to the Dino King, but it still allows them to potentially stand and fight if their damage output is high enough. We also have a huge issue that the number of affected enemies can range from 1 to 12+ (a full minion wave during a teamfight), meaning that our health and attack power numbers are going to be really hard to balance properly. It'll be much easier to standardize the gain, honestly: if we don't, the ability will either be useless in skirmishes and super OP during full minion waves.

Part of me also wants to see if this ability could be managed without an inner cooldown: I'm worried it's too easy for your opponent to bait out of you by backing away while you're forced to farm, and then having 18 seconds of freedom from the threat of your stronger combat. Maybe something like this?

ME KING! [suggested passive] Big Wrex is king, and he won't let anyone forget it. Whenever Big Wrex kills an enemy unit, enemies within 400 units are afflicted with Primal Fear, reducing their movement speed by 10 / 15 / 20% and their armor by 8 / 16 / 24 for 4 seconds. Additionally, Big Wrex gains 5 / 10 / 15 bonus AD, and 3 / 6 / 9% damage reduction for the duration. If Big Wrex kills an enemy champion, Large minion, or Large or Epic monster, the effects of Primal Fear are all doubled for the duration.

This allows us to give him a solid bonus in-lane (weakening enemy minions and potentially champions, while becoming more resistant to harass and gaining AD), while giving him potential counterplay (enemy champion staying out of the range of effect) and moments of power (Cannon minion waves and/or jungling can give him a nice buff). It's also more consistent: he's not going to be super-charged when killing the first minion in a wave, and he's also not going to suffer as much loss during a normal fight.

Sadly, without sticking a heal on the ability we can't make it that useful in the Jungle, which is sad...unless Big Wrex ends up with enough incidental damage to kill the small monsters while tackling the big guy. Not that important, but something to consider.

-Thunder Stomp (Q) - Cost: 80 mana / Range: 300 / Cooldown: 16/14/12/10/8

Big Wrex angrily stomps the ground, dealing a burst of damage to nearby enemies and slowing them. This ability may be cast a second time within 4s for the same effect, and a third time within 4s of that. The third activation hits a larger area and stuns enemies

Without knowing the damage and stun duration, this one is hard to judge. I'm a bit concerned about the radius though: we're looking at a 300 unit range, which is double the range of, say, Wukong's Ultimate, and only 75 units under triple the range of Riven's Q. So it's a twice-repeatable large-AoE slow with a stun on the end of it...which is pretty damn insane. I'd need to see the numbers on this one, because I strongly suspect that it'll be really hard to balance it well. My instinct is to go ahead and change it slightly in advance...maybe to something like this:

**Thunder Stomp [suggested Q] Big Wrex's stomps the ground, dealing 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 (+4% his maximum hit points) physical damage to targets within a 200 unit radius. Targets struck are slowed by 99% for .1 seconds. Big Wrex may cast this ability up to twice more in the next 10 seconds (1.2 second internal cooldown not reducible by cooldown reduction). Targets hit by all three casts are stunned for .5/.75/1/1.25/1.5 seconds instead of being slowed. Big Wrex may cast Thunder Stomp while moving.

This gives some counterplay (targets have a chance to escape, and Big Wrex has to pursue them), while also feeling more like a stomp: the target is hugely slowed when the ability impacts, but recovers quickly. The internal cooldown means Big Wrex can't simply hit all three immediately: he has to pursue his target, which means that weak targets will be running from a giant dinosaur while he stomps after them.

Giving it max health scaling and somewhat low base damage also encourages a giant tanky dinosaur, which is, I feel, important.

-Terrorize (W) - Cost: 50/55/60/65/70 mana / Range: 600 / Cooldown: 18/16.5/15/13.5/12

Big Wrex lets out a ferocious roar that sweeps over the battlefield like a wave. Allies are galvanized to action, gaining movement speed and damage resistance for a short time. Allied minions also immediately leap forwards in the direction of the wave. Enemies are slowed and take extra damage for a short time. Enemy minions are feared for the duration.

We're looking at far to many slows here. This ability also feels...well, it feels like his passive given to everyone (either the old OR suggested new passive), and it also feels a bit too much like Volibear's E. I think he could definitely use either a short dash or a movement speed steroid (I'd personally prefer a short dash, as it means he'll have to play smarter to get all his Q hits off), but the rest of the ability seems redundant given most of his kit.

**-Primal Rage (E) **- Cost: 30/40/50/60/70 mana / Range: 475m / Cooldown: 15

Big Wrex unleashes all of his prehistoric fury on the enemy.

Passive Big Wrex gains bonus attack speed with every attack, stacking up to 3. Stacks last for 10 seconds and are refreshed with every attack.

Active At 3 stacks of Primal Rage, Big Wrex can activate this skill, giving his autoattacks Lifesteal for a short time. Stacks of Primal Rage cannot be gained or refreshed while this ability is active or on cooldown.

Eh. I'm largely unexcited by this. He's already got temporary health and a damage resistance move...he doesn't also need lifesteal. Plus he's probably a tanky character, so X healing on-hit would be better for his scaling.

Regardless, I'd rather see this ability become something more suited to a big, bullying dinosaur. This doesn't really hit that fantasy for me: I'd like to see the ability basically entirely replaced, since it offers stuff he doesn't really need, and doesn't further reinforce his theme.

-Tyrant's Tantrum (R) - Cost: 120 mana Cooldown: 120/100/80

Big Wrex throws a tantrum, causing an earthquake in the immediate vicinity. The earthquake releases 5 shockwaves, 1 every 0.75 seconds. The first 4 shockwaves knock up all nearby enemies, dealing them damage and slowing their movement speed by 99% for 0.25s. The 5th shockwave causes double damage and slows for 2s.

Big Wrex is able to move while this ability is active, with movement speed reduced by 85%. Tyrant's Tantrum may be re-cast at any time to immediately release the 5th shockwave and end the ability early.

...Um...no.

Sorry, but this ability slows enough and knocks up enough that your target will not be able to escape. There's no range listed...but there doesn't have to be. This is effectively a decent damage (again, numbers and rough scaling would be great) AoE form of 5-second-long CC. Nobody can escape four knock-ups + following 99% slow in the .5 seconds of time they have before the next wave...especially because, as written, your Q and W slow the target, your third Q stuns the target, and your W gives you movement speed. They can't fight you either, as you have the CC to ruin everything they do, you have damage amplification against them from you W, and lifesteal from your E.

This ability needs an almost complete revision. I like the idea, and it does fit a giant dinosaur, but mechanically it's just really overpowered, especially combined with his kit.

CONCLUSION

You've got some cool stuff going on here. The passive and the Q really start off the feel of a big, tanky, thundering dinosaur. The W, E, and R, however, all fall a little short in my estimate. GREAT start though...and I think that by revising or changing those abilities and figuring out how you want him to play (is he a tanky bruiser? A pure tank? An initiator and chaser? Of those, I'd like him to be an initiator and chaser personally...a dash or charge + his Q would really be great for that thematically), you'll end up with a really solid champion concept.

Finally someone throws out an idea for a dinosaur champion! Wrex sounds like a massive CC train, with a bit of Cho'gath meets Warwick. I feel like he would need some help in the melee area, unless he just runs around and headbutts and bites things or slaps them with his tail. I can't imagine him trying to attack with his tiny T-rex arms. I see one of his abilities gives him passive rage stacks. Why not take that passive and incorporate it into his original passive as well and remove the mana cost so that he runs on rage just like Gnar? Then you can add more to that particular ability if you wanted. Wrex should be Gnar's counterpart, tanky versus Mini Gnar, and able to trade with Mega Gnar. I would also take off the MS debuff on his ultimate and just make him a really slow champion like Rammus. It almost looks like it would make it too easy for anyone to walk out of it (like a Pantheon ult.) I see his passive can make him a lane bully if he so wanted to be. Maybe consider giving it a slight cooldown whenever he activates it to keep him from being too oppressive. You could even have the cooldown reduced by auto attacks if you think it would be necessary. His W bugs me in that it sounds like a support ability, which doesn't seem fitting for a King dino. I'd say throw all of that on Wrex so he can do his job of trying to stomp down that pesky little Gnar.

Overall I really REALLY like this. Please post this on reddit if you haven't. This concept deserves some more feedback. I'm a dino fan and I'd love to see an actual dino champ in game.

P.S. Consider an interaction between Wrex and Mundo/Trundle. I think it would be great for Wrex to have responses to those guys.

Just one quick comment re. his ult - I may not have worded it exactly right, but the idea is that players who are knocked up can still act and move and are only slowed for the duration of the knock-up - when they land, they're free to move at normal speed. Essentially they can move freely *between *Tantrum waves, but are slowed when knocked up by a wave.

I love it as it is right now! My only suggestion is renaming the Q to something else besides "Me King!" Besides that this champion looks great! Upvoted in hopes it gets noticed by Riot!

Looks like the Voidmother has garnered the most interest in the poll - she'll be the next champion concept I do.
