An Old Lady who is twins with Annie...

A while back there were some interesting ideas kicked around about a champion that was an "Old Lady", which had a lot of yes/no opinions, but I didn't see a whole lot of ideas behind WHY she was an old lady, and how her back-story fit in to everything. Here's a thought along these lines, that ties right in to her ult: This "Old Lady" champ is actually twins with Annie. "That makes no sense" you say? Read on...

Her ultimate is to literally slow time. The thing is, it's slowed for everyone except for her. This is why she's old, and why Annie is young, because she has literally lived longer than everyone (?) else in the same amount of time. Think of it like this - if you were to push "pause" on the entire world for a day, but you continued about things like time wasn't paused for you - walking around, eating, drinking, sleeping, pranking people you hate, sneaking past security guards (etc) - by the time that day came unpaused, you'd be 1 day older than everyone else. Do that all the time, and eventually you're going to start "getting older" than the people around you. My idea here is that she can't quite completely "pause" time (or maybe she can?), but she can slow it down to varying degrees. The thing is, she's unaffected by her own magic, so she's able to move around at normal speed.

This would translate into game-play in the form of her ability to literally slow game-play time for short spurts as you level up her R, which could be done in a few different ways:

  1. Time is slowed for a fixed number of seconds (let's say 3) by a certain percentage, which percentage scales as she levels up R. For example, first level is 30% slow for 3 seconds, then 45% slow for 3 seconds, then 60 % slow for 3 seconds. OR
  2. Time is slowed by a fixed percentage (let's say 40%) for a short time, which amount of time increases as she levels up R. For example, first level is 3 seconds of 40% slow, next level is 4 seconds of 40% slow, next level is 5 seconds of 40% slow. OR
  3. A combination of 1 and 2.
  4. A ramp-up and/or decay affect could be applied to the slow, so when she hits R, it takes a second for time to slow down as far as it will go, then it speeds back up over time as well. So maybe 1 second where time is slowing down, 1 or 2 seconds where it's fully slowed, and 1 second while it's getting back up to speed.

Ever seen the movie "Over The Hedge," where the squirrel drinks an energy drink and causes mayhem? Or the scene from the X-Men movie where Quicksilver slows time, and runs around moving bullets mid-air, and essentially saves the day? If you've ever seen either of those movies, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Think about these scenarios:

  1. Karthas does his thing and presses R. Old Lady presses R partway through his channel. This might throw off the enemy's Zonya's timing and they hit it too early, OR it might help them have just enough time to react to it and use zonya's/heal/shield/etc.

  2. 5 on 5 teamfight JUST started going down, and 1 team has a lot of defensive save abilities, another team has a lot of AE damage abilities. Slowed time might help the defensive team counter the offensive team, but then again it might help the offensive team be more able to sync up, and make a more precise timing on their nuclear blast in one area.

  3. Baron, Dragon, Red buff, or Blue buff is almost dead, and Old Lady is a little bit out of range, but picked smite and flash/ghost as their abilities. "thx u 4 buff <3". OR it could backfire, because the slowed time might give it away that she has vision and is going to steal, so the enemy jungler bursts/smites and still secures the buff, and the ult is wasted. But is that a waste? It did make them use up their smite/burst abilities...

  4. Projectile like Ashe arrow is on it's way to finish off someone, and Old Lady could maybe get there in time to body-block, if she just had a little bit more... time.

It potentially creates a timing game of "chicken," because it might cause up to 9 other players on the map to do things they wouldn't during the duration of the slow-mo.

This is honestly a really fun concept, and I hope it goes somewhere!
