2 amazing Ideas - Vote to Kick option / Save the Day queue
I feel like league is way too competitive of a game to not have a way to salvage a game that 1 person is going to wreck. There really are some toxic players out there, or people have unexpected connection issues or whatever, which results in destroying a 20 to 30 minute game for the other 5 to 9 players. Should 1 out of 6, or more commonly, 1 out of 10 players, have that much power to ruin a game for everyone? **No! ** There needs to be an in-game mechanism to attempt to salvage a game!
Hence, 2 new ideas that essentially work together, but are technically separate things.
Idea 1 - Vote to Kick The name makes this idea pretty self explanatory, but a couple specifics need to be added to make it doable/fair. The basic idea is that if a player is ultra toxic, rage-quits, rage-AFKs, can't stay connected for more than 1 second, etc, i's just not OK to let them make the game be a 4v5, or 4v6 if they decide to feed. It's only fair to allow the rest of the team to have the option to vote to kick. Here's the catch: any 1 player can only initiate 1 vote per game, AND you have to earn your vote back by completely playing through another game (after the current game). All 4 other players must unanimously vote in favor of kicking for it to be successful. The idea behind the "stinginess" of these votes is that they are not whimsical, to be spammed by trolls who don't like that someone gave up first blood in a close fight, or even by making a mistake. They are something to be used when someone is really and truly tanking your team, and they just 100% have to go, no question, and you're confident that everyone else agrees. Then, if a player has been kicked, it's like submitting a report for that person - enough kicks and you get suspended/banned, or whatever punishment is deemed fair. If you get kicked, you also have a re-queue timer of 5 minutes. You probably need that time anyways so you can cool off, restart your router, reboot, do some push-ups, break something fragile, eat your feelings, down a shot, recite 'Invictus', or whatever you gotta do to fix the problem.
Idea 2 - New queue option: Save the Day Now THIS is where the fun comes in. Any players that think they are hot stuff, or have a hero complex, or want a real challenge (etc), they can queue up like a freakin' WWE tag-team wrestler, ready to fly into the ring all "JOHN CENA!!!" and cause a ruckus, pwn newbs, dunk on Teemos, etc. The thing is, the champ that was in the game, the guy that got kicked, you have to be that champ. Sure you could pick your own runes/masteries, but you'd only get like 15 seconds to do so (because you're a pro, and they are desperately waiting). So why would someone want to queue into Save the Day? Oh, because there's a legitimate incentive to do so. You'll get 25 bonus IP just for completing your Save the Day game, and another bonus 75 IP if you actually DO save the day, and your team wins. You'll also come into the game with the items/gold that the previous individual had, plus a bonus bit of gold to try and help out (because hey, you're pretty much a hired mercenary at this point). What would be a "fair" amount of gold is hard to determine. Maybe some math could be done along the lines of finding the average gold earned per team member on the other team, and then give that much (factoring in their items) + 30 gold per minute of game time passed to the savior when they load in? So if the other team averaged 1500 gold, and the newbie only had basic boots, and it was at minute 5, the savior would load in with boots + 1200 gold (1500 gold minus 300 for boots) + 160 gold (30 per minute)? That's just some very rough math, but you get the idea. They'd need a small incentive to want to come in and try to save a team, but it would need some kind of balancing factor so it doesn't completely tip the scales back the other way.
One important detail: the window of time for Vote to Kick AND Queuing for Save the Day would be from minute 2:00 to minute 10:00 or so. You wouldn't want to have people using the Vote to Kick feature at the end of the game just because someone made a mistake and "lost the team the game," because then they don't get any IP, it'd just be silly. That's not what this is for. Again, the point of this is is to salvage a salvageable game, when someone is seriously tanking early. Maybe they are being a complete
-bag, or maybe they just said "omg afk kitchen on fire" and never came back.
Technically, here's a 3rd idea, if these other 2 are shot down. Why not have the option of forfeiting starting at the 5 or 10 minute mark? Why go through 20 minutes of torture if someone is literally chain feeding, or never even loaded into the game at all? It's so pointless... I played 4 games today, where 3 of them were 4v5 and I was on the side of 4. That's not what I'm trying to queue up for. I'm honestly not trying to queue up to be on the 5 side either, because I could just play bots if I wanted to face-roll for a game. I'm just asking for a way to fix something that's broken is all. Thoughts?
