Introduction Hello there, 'tis been a really long time since I've made a concept! Really excited to be back and in the action. This concept is really the conclusion of multiple ideas failing and then retrying... rinse and repeat and here we are. A bit nervous, but I hope everyone enjoys! The lore was particularly fun to write and hope I did justice to what I had in my mind. Anywho, thanks for reading and enjoy!

Kit Health: 510-1865 Health Regen: 2.5-12.5 Mana: 340-1338 Mana Regen: 11.5-18.3 AD: 52-98 Attack Speed: 0.635 (+ 0 - 51%) Attack Range: 525 Armor: 32-95.6 MR: 30-38.5 Movement Speed: 335

Passive - Beacon’s Light Spero’s beacon, created from bioluminescent plants, emits a light (radius 450) that sends out a healing pulse every 15 seconds, healing ally champions for 5-28 (based on level) (+10% AP). Every time Spero or an ally champion within Beacon's Light damages an enemy champion or epic monster while within Beacon’s Light, the time is reduced by one second and grants a “Luminescence” stack.

For every “Luminescence” stack, the heal of this ability is increased by 3-15 (based on level) (+5% AP), maximum of 5 stacks.

Q - Creatures That Wander (Mana Cost: 50/55/60/65/70) (Cooldown: 12/11/10/9/8 seconds) (Range: 1050) Spero fires a medium moving projectile (displayed as glowing, plant-creation butterflies) in a direction, healing ally champions hit for 55/60/65/70/75 (+45% AP). Once the ability hits the edge of Spero’s radius of light, it turns into a fast-moving projectile (displayed as plant-creation hornet) that deals 75/90/105/120/135 (+65% AP) magic damage to the first enemy hit.

If this ability hits an enemy champion, the projectile remains for 2 seconds. If an ally champion auto attacks the enemy champion within that time, the projectile is consumed and deals 15/20/25/30/35 (+15% AP) magic damage.

W - Showing The Way (Mana Cost: 75) (Cooldown: 35/32/29/26/23 seconds) (Range: 1050) Spero creates a copy of him (having Beacon's Light on it as well) made from bioluminescent plants at a target location, travelling slowly in a direction chosen (vector casting) for 10/12/14/16/18 seconds, applying his abilities, and after a 5 second delay, Spero may reactivate this ability to change the direction the copy travels (vector casting). Whenever Spero casts an ability, the ability is cast from the copy as well. The area within a 450 radius around the copy is revealed. The cooldown does not start till this copy has faded.

E - Creating the Path (Mana Cost: 65) (Cooldown: 17/16.5/16/15.5/15) (Range: 1050) When casting this ability, Spero targets a location in a target direction, marking it and revealing it to allies and enemies (grows larger the further away from Spero it is) and causing lilypads to blossom in that direction. Allies hit by the lilypads gain 35/40/45/50/55% bonus movement speed for 1 second, while allies within the Beacon’s Light are cleansed of soft CC as well.

When the lilypads reach the marked ground, a giant lilypad blossoms. Enemies hit by the lilypads take 60/80/100/120/140 (+55% AP) magic damage, being knocked up for 0.75 seconds if hit by the giant lilypad.

R - Traveller’s Return (Mana Cost: 100) (Cooldown: 200/185/170) Spero causes a bioluminescent tree to sprout in a target location, up to a maximum of 1/2/3 (can be done while this ability is on cooldown).

Spero can target a tree on the map, channeling for 4 seconds (hard CC stops the channel), and if successful, all ally units within Beacon’s Light travel to the location of the bioluminescent tree, consuming all trees and putting this ability on cooldown.

Lore The earliest of Spero’s memories were surrounded by nature, crossing the his homeland of Ionia with his parents. As the son of woodweavers, he was constantly travelling and listening to the whispers of nature hidden amongst the wind and the rustling leaves. While travelling, he met with a variety of people and a variety of nature… from the fishermen with the sturdy trees sprouting from saltwater to the farmers with their whimsical and bountiful fields.

Spero loved listening to the stories of the people he met while his parents worked, along with the whispers of the nature around them. His goal in life he set from himself of a young age was to be like his parents, travelling and helping people find a home amongst nature. For that, he continued to study from his parents the ways of listening and asking nature… until, still just a child, he left to travel by himself and attune to nature. There, he learned more from the whispers of the plants… and even the animals, how they lived with nature in their own ways.

Spero’s travels, however, were interrupted by the switch of the nature around him, from the floating lily pads drifting carelessly to… trying to survive. Never before had he heard this from nature, a sound foreign to him, albeit he heard tales of the Noxian Invasion… but never close to it like he was now. Spero desperately tried to calm nature, speaking to the trees and asking them to remain calm… but they would and could not stop, for they had to defend themselves.

Swiftly, Spero travelled, following the sounds of the land around him trying to defend itself… until he arrived on the ruins of a battlefield, the battle seemingly over. There were corpses scattered about, both Ionian and Noxian, filling the air with the heavy scent of blood that wafted and seemed to constrict itself around Spero. He was quick to grow sick to his stomach and vomit, not used to such violence -- the land so different from what he knows, even the familiarity of the grass below him seemed so distant. However, a rustling of the grass awakened him from his unfamiliarity… a Noxian soldier, still alive. At first, he felt his body turn around, prepared to run -- but an instinct pushed him forward, a teaching from his parents to help those in need.

The Noxian soldier was barely conscious, and upon further inspection, was not much older than Spero himself. He could immediately see hostility in the eyes of the Noxian soldier, but the wincing of pain only reminded him of a cornered animal, desperate for survival. Calling upon the land around him, grasping for the familiarity in even the slightest, he tried to coax medicinal herbs to help him aid the soldier… the land, while reluctant, finally answered his pleas.

While at first hostile and defensive towards him, the soldier slowly began to drop his guard while Spero treated him. He revealed his name to be Mencer, a soldier recruited as a child for the efforts of the Ionian invasion. While there was some hostility within Spero himself, against an invader of his home, he buried that hostility down and instead moved Mencer (albeit with difficulty) deeper into the forest, away from the battlefield.

Spero, while still having an enchantment with the variety between people, had not regularly interacted with another person in a few seasons. His interaction with Mencer he began to crave as he treated him, a variety of old and new wounds needing proper treatment. At first, the conversations between them were tense, with nothing but a few words spoken between the two… however, those words gradually began to multiply, Mencer feeling slightly more comfortable with the one healing him and Spero starting to lose the hostility he had in the beginning. Upon learning about Mencer’s family, just merchants on the outskirts of Noxus, he began to reminisce about his own family… somewhere within Ionia, seemingly so far away from this moment. Suddenly, an idea came to Spero’s mind, born from the missing of home in his mind, the idea to take Mencer home.

Spero, trying to convey this idea, was originally pushed away, the Noxian pride not allowing for Mencer to accept his help when he was trying to invade Ionia. It took some time between the two, during of which Spero tried to convey the beauties of nature to Mencer, to help him hear the whispers he heard. While the land and nature around them were originally reluctant and hostile to Mencer, and Mencer to them, they gradually grew accustomed to each other. While not being able to listen to the whispers, Mencer was still shown in awe some of the different plants… one of his favorite being the bioluminescent plants that he compared to a lantern that never needed to be relit. Eventually, Spero was able to convince Mencer to let him take him home, and excitement began to blossom at helping his newly-found friend… and, a small selfish desire to see someplace new and meet new people. Asking the tree to form a basket and staff, Spero gathered medicinal bioluminescent plants to live in a basket hanging from the staff… forming a beacon to guide their way.

On their journey, they avoided the different towns of Ionia, but Spero showed him the different beauties of the land, with skipping across lily pads blossoming across giant lakes and coaxing the beacon to form different creatures made of plants… they seemed to gather a liking to Spero and Mencer, providing with consistent light and blessings of healings. While Mencer was learning more about nature and the land, so was Spero… the beacon showcasing even more beauties of nature to him.

Eventually, they reached the coastal line, where Spero coaxed the coast-line trees into forming a boat… something he originally had not thought possible, but with a new understanding at the possibilities, he was able to do it. They sailed to Noxus, getting lost many times on the sea, but kept going… eventually finding land and traveling to Mencer’s home. The foreign land was enchanting to Spero, the nature seemed to be asleep but would awaken in excitement at someone being able to hear them. Upon arriving at Mencer’s home, having grown closer to Mencer, Spero was excited to meet his family… but Mencer said that was as far as he could go, not wanting his friend to risk travelling into a Noxian town. Spero was reluctant and pleaded, desperate to continue being with his best friend, but he got no way. A cold stone formed in Spero’s stomach, weighing him down as tears formed in his eyes… losing someone so dear to him. The beacon, glowing even more luminescent, caused something to fall to the ground… a single glowing seed, burying itself within the earth. A new beacon, one to return to. Spero listened to the whispers of the beacon and heard what Mencer said… a beacon, for when Spero would return eventually, a sign of their relationship and a place to eventually return.

Spero, now away from his home, decided to do what he did with Mencer to others… form new beacons, travel new lands, and meet the different kind of natures. He wanted to learn about new people, and if he ever found a traveller lost from home… he would be the beacon to guide them on their way.

Dialogue (Only doing a few per line, as to not make this too long.) Pick: Where to next?

Ban: Seem to have lost the path...

Upon starting a game: "Travelling isn't such a lonely path, look at everyone here!" "A new land, new faces, new... well, everything." "Time to light the way. To where? Well, that's the fun part." "So far from home, but anywhere can be home with the right people."

Moving: "Do you hear them whisper?" "Another day's worth of travelling..." "No time to rest." "I'll go back to Noxus one of these days, but for now... I have work to do."

Attacking: "I'm not really used to this..." "Are you sure you want to do this?" "I don't like this very much!" "Let's just go take a nap, the grass says it'll be extra comfortable."

Joke: "A butterfly and a flower walk into a... what do you call it here?" "Oh, I learned this one. The Noxian and the Demacian have a contest. Who wins? The one with the bigger axe!"

Taunt: "Perhaps you should spend a little more time on the road?" "I can teach you to listen for whispers, they might help." "Should we take a rest? You seem like you need it..."

Taunt: Enemy Rakan "Oh, a dance, how exciting!" "Someone from home, I didn't expect that."

Taunt: Enemy Xayah "You seem nice... ummm... maybe?" "You know, you don't have to stab people. You could just talk, it works out a lot."

Taunt: Enemy Noxian "Don't worry, I know you guys are nice... after a little bit." "I've heard about you guys and it scares me a little to be on the other side!"

Taunt: Ally Noxian "Do you know Mencer?" "Don't worry, I'll visit again... just please don't try to kill me."

Laugh: Spero Laughs (not sure what you expected here).

Upon Casting: Creatures That Wander "I learned this trick a little awhile ago." "Nature can be so pretty when you just ask..."

Upon Casting: Showing The Way "Two of me, so that way we can never get lost." "I can see me over there!"

Upon Casting: Creating the Path "Lily pads are so fun to jump on!" "A spring to your step, just be careful!"

Upon Casting: Traveller's Return "We've wandered, but now, we need to return." "The past is sometimes the path that leads the way!"

Upon Killing an Enemy Champion "I really didn't mean to do that!" "Oh goodness, oh goodness..." "Please don't blame anyone." "I'm sure nature will guide you to life... I hope."

Upon Placing a Ward "Plants can do this too, but this will work... for now." "Home for some animals, if they so choose." "Helps with the sightseeing, definitely." "Not familiar with this road, so have to keep our eyes open."

Upon Casting Recall "Time to return home..." "The travel was long, but for now... let's take a rest."

Upon Dying "I didn't get to see... him again..." "I'm... sorry..." "For my travels... to end so soon..." "B-but... I don't want to die..."

Appearance Spero is a younger man, with Ionian clothing consisting of a variety of colors (albeit primarily greens) that are worn and fading. His hair, a darker brown, is wavy and medium-length, pulled back into a pony tail that reaches just a little past his shoulders. He constantly holds a wooden staff that has tied to it a hanging basket, in which bioluminescent plants reside and are blossoming.

Ending Thoughts Phew, actually put dialogue in this one! Been a long time since I've done that, but I hope you guys enjoyed it. Not just that, but I hope you guys enjoyed reading Spero, the Traveller's Beacon in general. Originally, the idea for a woodweaver or the like came from making a support ninja... that went to a support marksman... that then went to this. A long travel, huh? Please leave any comments or questions and I'll try to get back to them as soon as I can!

Hey K1b0. I hope you don't mind a few comments on the kit as well as a little lore review.

Passive - Beacon’s Light Spero’s beacon, created from bioluminescent plants, emits a light (radius 450) that sends out a healing pulse every 15 seconds, healing ally champions for 5-28 (based on level) (+10% AP). Every time an ally champion or Spero damages an enemy champion or epic monster while within Beacon’s Light, the time is reduced by one second and grants a “Luminescence” stack.

This is great, I would just reword part of it.

"Every time Spero or an ally within Beacon's Light damages an enemy champion or epic monster, the time is reduced by one second and grants a "Luminescence" stack.

A purely damage spell on Spero seems out of place. I'd suggest you return the little damage buff it used to have as right now Spero doesn't have that many ways to support his team.

W - Showing The Way (Mana Cost: 75) (Cooldown: 35/32/29/26/23 seconds) (Range: 1050) Spero creates a copy of him made from bioluminescent plants at a target location, travelling slowly in a direction chosen (vector casting) for 10/12/14/16/18 seconds, applying his abilities, and after a 5 second delay, Spero may reactivate this ability to change the direction the copy travels (vector casting). Whenever Spero casts an ability, the ability is cast from the copy as well. The area within a 450 radius around the copy is revealed. The cooldown does not start till this copy has faded.

I'd love an ability like this in game. No changes needed really however I do wonder if Spero's copy can proc his passive or even has its own Beacon's Light.

E - Creating the Path (Mana Cost: 65) (Cooldown: 17/16.5/16/15.5/15) (Range: 1050) Spero causes the ground to break as giant lilypads blossom out of it in a target direction, creating a lily pad every 300. Allies hit by the lilypads gain 35/40/45/50/55% bonus movement speed for 1 second, while allies within the Beacon’s Light are cleansed of soft CC as well.

Neat ability. I like the high range on it.

I think a normal line skill shot would work better than hoping your allies get hit by the lily pads ever 300 units. If you want to balance the knockup then maybe have the knockup appear at the end of the skill shot. Maybe Spero can use a slider to cast the knockup as a small circle closer or farther to him along the lilypad path.

Some very cool diversity. I like how the power of it is balanced around planning before hand, although I would be concerned that the ability might have similar issues to Ryze's ult where it is too hard to use in solo q but too strong in coordinated play.

In terms of lore there are some cool things in store for Spero and other stuff that could be worked on.

He's got a very unique approach to the Noxus v.s Ionia situation. I think every previous Ionian character hates Noxus and one way or another recognizes the need to defend against them. Spero however, who is not a soldier himself, recognizes that not all Noxians are blood thirsty hounds and in fact some of them are victims of the war. This is a cool path to go down just because theres nothing like it but also because of how you went about it with Spero meeting Mencer.

If you go back to update his lore, I would suggest you try and strengthen Mencer and Spero's relationship more. As of right now their friendship doesn't seem to have the impact that you presumably intended it to. Before Spero met Mencer, he wanted to travel, meet, and help all kinds of people. He was and is very accepting from the start. After Mencer returns to Noxus, Spero seems to be for the most part the same. The only difference is he now has this tie to Noxus suggesting he will have to come back to Noxus eventually. So maybe just go back and solidify why Spero meeting Mencer is so important aside from giving him a connection to Noxus.

I'd prefer to see how Spero was effected by his encounter and friendship with Mencer more. Neither Spero's past or his future seem to be significantly influenced by Mencer however the lore puts a pretty big focus on the relationship. You could probably fix this by simply giving him a more specific goal in the world. Spero's tie to Noxus is entirely unique but you don't go into much detail about what this connection will mean in the future. And while being a traveler gives Spero lots of lore connections from the start, I wish you'd touch up a little bit about what else Spero cares about. What does Spero think about how Noxus demands nature itself bend to submission? What does he think about the Vastayans and their rebellious behavior? How much does Spero value Ionia's old, passive traditions? Most Ionians answer some of these questions as a lot of them are pretty key to Ionia's overall plot.

Additionally I think you should go back to the end of your story and specify what returning to Noxus means. Is he going to play a role in Noxus? Is that an important part of his lore? Or is that sort of his end-game goal in life like retiring? Not sure because it seems like a vague pointer for where his lore could head, but you didn't communicate that as well as you could.

Sorry if parts of this review became a little word-vomity, if you have more questions feel free to ask. I didn't expect a Noxian-sympathizer Ionian so this was refreshing. I like the thematic connections with his gameplay from the bioluminescent plants to the references to traveling and also Spero's ultimate. Overall cool concept and good luck in the CCOS :)

wow what a great druid concept great visuals in the kit

tho i must warn against map traversing abilities as they are warped by pro play and make balancing very difficult (Galio, Rek, Ryze, Tahm, Shen) these champs get ther normal abilities nerfed to compensate for the power of traversing the map and actually make it so its harder for their kits the reach the full potential due to the power being used up in map mobility

gonna review more later
