Unorthodox support concept
Not sure if this is something that has been suggested in the past, it's entirely silly of an idea, or riot would have no possible way to make it work; however, I thought it would be interesting to suggest a potentially unique aspect for a support champion.
As someone who was familiar with the old Zeke's that gave your nearby team members life steal; I thought it would be interesting if maybe this could be brought back, in a way, to give a new champion a new identity. However, I thought of something that might work even better that could work like Kalista's
.
What if we had another champion in the game that forged a bond, contract, or whatever with a champion that gave them a buff when it came to Life Steal [Perhaps Spell vamp as well]? So that you could put it on an ally to increase their sustain when the two are in proximity of one another? Now, to add to this my idea would be something more along the lines of this either in addition or separately entirely. What if the person in the contract received all life steal health that would be generated from the support and gave that to the ADC [Whoever]?
- My logic behind this is that it's a support's job to keep the ADC alive, that's the premise most people have associated with that role for a long time; The trade off being the health regeneration from Life steal on minions [encouraging Targon's path] or fighting enemy champs that would have gone to them is instead given to the carry to give them more options in a fight.
- Second thing is that with the current direction of the Meta for ADC's items like
and other LS items are rather lack luster at the moment and or not nearly as essential as they once were like in Season 3. Giving a carry some additional sustain in this way, when it's something they don't entirely rush anymore, could prove useful in the early game. Also could encourage some of the items to be picked up again. - Another suggestion is something similar to that of Janna's Shield that I don't think we see too much of. She not only gives a shield (I'm not suggesting we make it a shield, but I list it as an example) but gives base Attack Damage based off of her AP to whoever she shields. You can also see this in the old taric (As well as new) that he gives Armor to an ally to those equipped with the W I believe. Another example would be Galio's W as well, on top of the benefits it gives him, it does give MR and Armor. Yet another example would be Braum's jump when used on an ally and does the same.
- As you can see, there is a reoccurring theme of champions that gives MR/ARMOR/AD boosts to other champions. Even items like
give attack speed to champions if certain conditions are met. However, the thought of giving life steal to another champion isn't something, to my knowledge, we see.
My thoughts are that if there was a new Fighter/Tank support that could make a contract, one time even, to their ADC so that they get a boost in Life steal in addition (Possibly with my one idea) they were to generate the LS accumulated from the support while they were in combat it would be an interesting concept. At the very least, it would be something we hadn't seen yet.
Another thing I wanted to bring up was something I think Riot Lyte mentioned a few years ago when they were first making the changes to Soraka and her heal in addition to other champions with healing skills. He didn't believe that healing skills, at least at the time, were a fair means to keep sustain without any cost. I believe that's ultimately what inspired soraka's change of having to exchange her own health to another. However, at the same time that means we aren't likely to see other champions like Soraka or Sona [Yes, bard has a heal but it's not nearly as good in comparison]. Personally I think the entire support meta has fallen off track, not to say I'm discouraged or dislike the fact that their is diversity among them, and it's common knowledge they have more of an impact in the game as Riot intended and wanted. Although, can you tell me that it wouldn't be satisfying to be a fighter/bruiser/tank that's on the front lines and even when you do your own thing you're still benefiting your ADC so long as they stay in proximity of you?
Now, I don't have the first idea on how this could be balanced or even if it could work. I don't know what skills could be given to the champion either, or if it's something they'd be at all interested in making. I just thought, if nothing else, it could be an interesting concept.
