The pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again.
#Opening: Jal is a supportive fighter with an enchanter facet to her kit. She is able to go top lane and support. She is forced to decide powerful decisions with her abilities, mainly Perseverance and Legendary Endurance. In the world of Runeterra however, Jal is an angel caught between the war of her people. Unwilling to fight her brothers and sisters, she was persecuted and attacked for her actions. However with indomitable will Jal survived. Now she meets a strange visitor, one who she hopes can aid her in unifying Jal's home.
That's the problem with being the strong one. No one can offer you a hand.
Passive: Pain Unyielding: Passive: Pain Unyielding: When a nearby allied champion takes damage from an enemy champion, grant Jal 4 points of Pain Unyielding. This is doubled when Jal took the damage.
Jal gains movement speed based on her points of Pain Unyielding up to a maximum of 100 Pain Unyielding. Pain Unyielding is Jal's mana bar and dissipates slowly but increasingly after not being damage for 4.5 seconds.
(Note: This passive would likely have a minor cooldown per target ally so DoT abilities aren't hard countered by Jal. You can also think of her gaining about .5 movement speed per point of Pain Unyielding. Of course she would be very fast at maximum amounts of Pain Unyielding but she would be missing out on her heal and Dominate ability).
Q: Perseverance: Consume all points of Pain Unyielding to heal Jal and a nearby ally based on each point consumed. The healing is split upon Jal and the ally, so if no there is no nearby ally she will heal the entire amount. For 2 seconds after, the bonus movement speed from the passive is doubled and granted to the nearby ally and Jal. Jal must have 30 points of Pain Unyielding to cast this ability.
Cooldown: 14/13/12/11/10
Activation Quote: "Make your wounds into wisdom for future times." Activation Quote 2: "Wisdom is gained, through the survival of pain"
Q2: Dominate: If Jal does not have over 30 points of Pain Unyielding or Perseverance is on cooldown she will activate Dominate to finish a winning fight. Upon activation Jal thrusts her spear forward dealing physical damage and marking enemies. Marked enemies take a percentage of their missing health when auto attacked, which consumes the mark.
Cooldown: 60% of Perseverance's cooldown.
W: Strength of Eternity: Jal swipes her spear out in a cone, knocking enemies back and dealing physical damage.
Passively, Every 3 seconds the next attack will grant 5 Pain Unyielding.
Active Cooldown: 12/11/10/9/8
E: Indomitable Will: Jal channels her will power for up to 2.5 seconds generating energy. Upon charging for maximum duration or reactivating, Jal fires a cone of light dealing physical damage and slowing enemies hit. Charging this ability during the first 1.5 seconds increases the range but reduces the width.
Cooldown: 10/10/10/10/10
R: Legendary Endurance: Jal selects an ally champion, reducing the damage they take by X% and directing the damage they would have taken into Pain Unyielding stacks for 5.5 seconds. Pain Unyielding can overflow during this time up to a maximum of 150 total stacks. The % Damage Reduction scales with rank.
120/110/100 second cooldown.
Understanding Jal's role and playstyle is important too. She's a melee supportive fighter who has the option of top lane or bot lane support as her roles. She provides buffs to her allies when in the support role that naturally pass onto herself in top lane. Her healing isn't wasted if an ally isn't near and she can still generate Pain Unyielding stacks efficiently alone. As a support she won't be auto attacking often enough to use Strength of Eternities passive efficiently, however she will be auto attacking more in top lane where she would be lacking an ally to help generate stacks of Pain Unyielding.
Additionally, due to her kit requiring her to fight if she wants to heal, she won't be over bearing and create passive laning. Similar to Kled, she has to start a battle if she wants to heal.
In team fights, Jal usually plays a peel role. With her ultimate, knock back, and slow, she can help her allies exceptionally well. As the battle progresses, and as Jal generates Pain Unyielding stacks, she will speed up. Here, she might take an offensive opportunity and attack enemy carries with her high movement speed. Also, at this point in the fight she will want to use Perseverance, due to the fact her resource bar will cap sooner or later, and the fact she will want the MS buff to either run away if the fight is going negatively or chase if its going in her favor. And once she does use her first Q, she will have access to her second Q, Dominate, to help her execute low health enemies. Her entire play style flows with the tide of the battle, giving her options as she wades through battle.
Her kit includes most of its decision making in how and when she wants to use her Q, Perseverance. If she uses it early for a quick heal and MS buff for re-positioning, she can help someone get out of trouble. However if she waits and generates more stacks she will have a stronger burst of MS and heal for chasing or escaping enemies at the end of a fight.
Upon reaching maximum stacks of Pain Unyielding Jal becomes a slippery foe, but not a frustrating one either. Unlike recent champions Jal's mobility isn't tied to visually interesting dashes or blinks, but she gains significant movement speed. The challenge for Jal is too survive the fight long enough to reach this speed with her lower-then-average-base-defensive stats and not need the heal. Jal's Q Perseverance forces the player to make the trade off of mobility or sustain.
Additionally, Jal has a another decision to make. Her ultimate, Legendary Endurance can be used on a tank to create an unstoppable force and generate many stacks of Pain Unyielding. However using it on a squishy ally who can't take many attacks before dieing has its trade offs. It might be enough to save the ally, but due to an ally usually being targeted by bursty characters won't generate many stacks.
While Perseverance does have a low cooldown, its movement speed buff and heal are laughable if Jal hasn't earned many stacks of Pain Unyielding.
Finally, Jal has clear weaknesses. She has minimal mobility without her stacks of Pain Unyielding, no hard CC except a displacement which is bad for lockdown, and doesn't have any good poke. She lacks significant burst but in turn has sustain, peel, and waveclear. Enemies who are fighting Jal should play aggressive once she has consumed her stacks of Pain Unyielding. Additionally, Jal has trouble against bursty champions who don't leave Jal with many stacks of Pain Unyielding before her she reaches her demise.
Selection Quote: “The marks people leave are too often scars.”
Taunt: "You are unable to endure the pain I will inflict"
Taunt 2: "Every time you push me down, I will stand back up, with spear in hand."
Joke: "How does one react when they've had a spear run through them? They don't."
Joke: "I told the Ournn, no I'm not just going through a phase."
Upon Using Ultimate "Legendary Endurance" on Ally: "I stand with you, you cannot fall!"
Upon Using Ultimate "Legendary Endurance" on Ally (2): "I lend my strength to you, for together we endure"
Upon Using Ultimate "Legendary Endurance: on Self: "You cannot topple me, my strength is eternal"

The veiled women sat, tucked in a corner. Every so often she would jump, when the carriage hit a rock or bump. The gravel meeting wheel filled the silence. She waited, alone, ignoring the driver in front.
She thought about the women she would be meeting shortly. She flipped through notes and letters from Jal, skimming them. The veiled lady thought about the other women's terrible past and prepared to play upon it. Desperate people are more willing to drastic change.
When one has watched their family's death and suffering, unable to help, they look at the world in a new Light. Jal, the veiled women's client, struggled to see the good of the world. The veiled women recalled how Jal's clan took no side in the war. But when tension built up too far, the family was forced to side with the Ournn, the tyrannical fiends of Kayle. Time and time again, Jal's family was punished for their unwillingness to fight their brothers of the Syll. The Ourrn branded Jal's family heretics and traitors, killing all but Jal. Jal watched as her family was tied down, and bowls were placed on each member's chest. Then rats were placed under each bowl and unable to climb out from under the bowl, ate their way out.
Jal lived one year as a prisoner of the Ournn, experiencing terrible events and horrific acts. On the last day of that year, Jal fled. She'd broken her families choice to not take part in the war. Now an outcast from Ournn, Jal, a desperate young women, was gladly accepted into the Syll. Jal found family there, and despite the Syll's immoral decisions, Jal lived once more in a world that supported individualism. She found a handsome spouse, whom she would marry she hoped. Jal grew under Syll law, finding the Syll's freedom as a beautiful blessing.
Suddenly, the carriage jerked forward and stopped in a rough manner. The Veiled Women threw her arms forward in an effort to catch herself. "Fool!" She screamed at her driver. The Veiled Women missed the Syll where the pathetic mistakes of mortals weren't made. He yelped in apology before the Veiled Women continued her train of thought.
Jal's lover was salt who appeared sugar. Upon the discovery of Jal's infertility their love disipated. Jal clung to her friend who cared not for their love. Jal soon sat alone once more, sorrow and silence sharp against her heart. Jal, persuaded by her forlorn past, decided to leave the Syll.
In her lost wandering, Jal really understood a middle ground was necessary. Neither extreme of the Ournn or Syll was reasonable. But Jal had seen and felt too much. She saw the world as ugly and terrible.
The carriage stopped. The driver opened the door for a young women. Jal stepped into the carriage room where the Veiled Women sat. "Terrific meeting you after all this time Jal", said Morgana, prepared to show Jal the world in a new Light.
