Arkos - The Banished (Shadow Mage champion concept)

So, as far as everyone knows here we don't have much emphasis on the shadow realm other than Zed gets his power from there, Nocturne lives in it, and maaaybeee Evelynn crosses from there? Anyway, this champion is from the shadow realm, and its a mage, nothing much else.

Design: Considering Arkos is from the Shadow Realm, I wanted his design to be dark, humanoid, and wraith-like, kind of like Nocturne. I looked at it more and thought... it looks too much like Nocturne. Instead, I looked at a different approach to his design... A Mindflayer. https://rossonl.files.wordpress.com/2017/11/346.jpg Considering we don't have a "squidface" champion in the game, I thought it would be unique to have a mindflayer design to the champion, veiled with shadows and glowing eyes. And to give an eldritch look to him, he will also bear wings, kind of like cthulhu, which contributes to match with his eldritch abilities.

Lore: During the rune wars, new power was used, warred upon, and created. Among these creations were the shadow realm, and its inhabiting demons and feral beasts that humanity would dare stumble upon. Arkos, was one of the first. Arkos was born from all the willingness of mortal men and women who want to learn more about the runes. All of that longing for knowledge eventually manifested, which Arkos was born from it. Arkos himself wanted knowledge, not for the sake of planning demise or calamities, but for the sake of information for himself, to know all that exists beyond his plane of dimension. There are small, rare occasions that humans meditate and pray to the point, they find themselves in another world of vision. When a human, is unfortunate enough to peer into the shadow realm, Arkos will be there, and doesn't need to ask questions to get answers. When it comes to driving the minds of humans insane, or simply rendering their senses and mind, potentially breaking them, he will take their memories for himself, just to sate his longing for knowledge.

Kit: I wanted to make Arkos's kit unique in the sense it feels like your bending existing based on your enemy's senses, in utmost terrifying ways. I looked back on how invisibility and camo works, when it comes to surprising people, tricking them like how shaco works, and decided to bring those ideas further when it comes to trickery.

Role: Mage Damage: AP Lane: Mid

Passive: Eyes of Insight The player who is currently using Arkos can see the enemies line of sight of the fog of war, the areas that are fog of war from the enemies perspective are pictures as black smoke along the ground in Arkos's perspective by a given radius, scaling by champion level. *Arkos's perspective of fog of war can be cleared a bit using vision wards, or champion spells that reveal an area. *Arkos cannot be revealed by any spells at all as long as he is in the fog of war. (Champion spells that reveal the area such as swain's W or Ashe's Bird can reveal Arkos). *If Arkos is in the fog of war, he gains bonus magic penetration with his spells. Passive part 2: *Arkos's auto attacks are different than most, instead of continuously attacks that deal damage, Arkos continuously inflicts damage over time on targetted enemies and healing for 30% of damage dealt (Reduced to 5% toward minions and small monsters), but Arkos is slowed by 30% during the process of auto attacking. *Arkos takes 15% reduced damage from the currently drained enemy's attacks.

Q: Dark Tendrils Arkos unleashes a shadowy wave of energy across the ground, dealing damage and slowing enemies in the range, after a delay, the shadowed terrain erupts as dark tendrils strike up from the darkened ground, dealing damage again and knocking up enemies still in the range. *Range is extended by 35% if used in the fog of war.

W: Cloud of Darkness Arkos expels shadow magic from himself, making a cloud of shadows erupt around him, giving Arkos camo while he is in it and causing damage over time to enemies in it while slowing them. *The initial expunge of shadows knocks enemies away from him. *The cloud can block the vision of enemies wards

E: Eldritch Spark Arkos fires a shadowy bolt of energy from his fingers, Damaging an enemy champion and inflicting "Insanity" for 7 seconds. *Insanity (effect) - Enemies inflicted with insanity, have their vision radius across the map reduced by half, and see images of enemy champions moving across the map or toward them while not really being there, called "Mirage Champions". *If an enemy champion attacks a "mirage champion" created by the insanity, 30% of the damage they inflict will be reflected back. *Turrets will not target Mirage Champions. *The lightning can chain to 1 extra champion at rank 3, and up to 2 extra champioms at rank 5, dealing only 50% of the initial damage. Also inflicting insanity to them.

R: They Who Wail Arkos summons a circular zone called the "Umbral Tresspass" anyway of his vision radius from his passive and can only cast it upon areas in the enemy's fog of war perspective, also seen by his passive (displayed upon shadowed ground). *The Umbral Tresspass lasts for 30 seconds if not walked upon by enemy champions. *Once an enemy champion walks into the umbral tresspass, 1/2/3 shadowy beasts burst from the fog of war at the enemy champion, target only enemy champions, having three different attacks. https://art.ngfiles.com/images/198000/198223_mananaman_shadow-beast.jpg?f1332388145

  • Shred: A claw attack that deals damage to targets in front of the beast.
  • Bite: A bite attack inflicting heavy damage on a single target.
  • Horrific Cry: The beast unleashes a monstrous shriek, dealing continuous damage and fearing enemies in the range (its rarest ability). *The number of beasts spawned from the Umbral Tresspass increases by 1 each rank. *The damage the beasts deal scale with Arkos's AP, and their health scales with Arkos's bonus health. *The beasts are treated as epic monsters so they can be heavily affected by Smite.

Special effects: *Whenever Arkos leaves or enters the enemy's perspective of fog of war, it makes reality behind him ripple as he appears or disappears. *This ripple affect also contributes to his Q and E as they are sent through the borders of the fog of war. *The ground beneath Arkos wherever he walks is warped, twisted and covered in shadows *When an enemy walks into the Umbral Tresspass, it makes the borders of their screen darken with shadows for a few seconds. *Arkos's Ultimate has 3 ways the shadow beasts come from, like the corners of a triangle, and when they appear, it causes massive ripple effects that stretch out toward the beasts when they appear, like they just tore themselves into existence. *When a shadow beast is near an enemy champion, it will play a horrifying soundtrack as the beast notices them and is presumed to start attacking. I feel like a mindflayer might be better suited to the Void, as there is a precedent for tentacled creatures coming from there; there is no such precedent for the shadow realm.
