Megara - The Mecha-Tactician (Marksman ADC/Mid Concept)
Quick Champion Synopsis: Megara is a ranged marksman that uses drones to tactically suppress areas and control the direction of a fight. She is capable of medium mobility, but most of her power comes from massive area denial and medium-long range attacks. She takes this advantage to the bottom lane as an ADC, where she can harass enemy champions and control the fight against other marksman and supports. She can take this power to the mid-lane, where she loses the back-up of a support but gains the opportunity of only dealing with a single opponent. In team fights, her area denial with drones combines with her medium-long range capabilities of a marksman to pick off opponents who stray within range.
Abilities:
Passive: Drone Puppeteer Passive - Self Augment
Instead of a normal auto-attack, Megara tosses a small drone at the enemy. This drone will buzz around the target firing lasers at it, dealing 200% (+1% for every 1% Critical Hit Chance Megara has) of Megara's Attack Damage over 2.5 seconds. This damage over time stacks uniquely: You can stack this damage an unlimited amount of times. However, each individual stack will only last 2.5 seconds and will not renew when attacked again.
If the target is afflicted by three or more drones, all drones from her spells in the vicinity will automatically seek that target out instead of other targets, dealing 20% extra damage. If the target is afflicted by five or more drones, each of Megara's drones from spells will deal 65% extra damage.
Ability One: Twin Attack Drones Active - Line Skillshot (Wide, 500/525/550/575/600 range)/Area of Effect (120/130/140/150/160 radius)
Megara activates two drones which fly a set distance in a line releasing cluster charges, dealing 50/85/120/155/190/225 (+0.55 Attack Damage, +0.35 Ability Power) physical damage to all enemies hit and slowing them by 20% that decays over 1.25 seconds. You may select a destination along the skillshot line, or, if one is not selected, the location will automatically be set at maximum distance. The drones will fly back after their strafing run and hover over the selected area for a certain time, shooting a target once every 2 seconds (0.500 Attack Speed) for 10/15/20/25/30 (+0.2 Attack Damage) physical damage (Prioritises enemy champions). These Twin Attack Drones increase their firing rate (attack speed) according to Megara's attack speed, increasing the rate of fire equal to 70/80/90/100/110% of Megara's bonus attack speed from items. The drones will cover that area for 5 seconds before losing power and being forced to return to Megara.
(Example: If Megara has level 3 Twin Attack Drones and she buys a Runaan's Hurricane [40% Attack Speed], the drones will increase their attack speed by 36%, which is 90% of the Runaan's attack speed bonus).
Cooldown: 14/13/12/11/10 seconds, after initial cast Mana Cost: 50/60/70/80/90
Ability Two: Scout Ahead Active - Line Skillshot (Thin, 600/675/750/825/900 range)/Area of Effect (350 radius)/Toggle
Megara sends out a scout drone to cover an area, revealing what is beneath it's gaze. Megara can issue three orders to the drone:
**Target's Drone:**The drone pulses with radioactive waves, dealing 25/50/75/100/125 (+0.25 Attack Damage, +0.35 Ability Power) magic damage to everyone and revealing all invisible units under its gaze for 3 seconds. Target's Empty Space: The drone will fly to a new location. Target's Megara: The drone returns to Megara and Megara stops draining mana per second.
While the drone is active, it will drain mana per second. If Megara runs out of mana, the drone will automatically return to Megara.
Cooldown (Toggle): 32/28/24/20/16 seconds Cooldown (Movement/Pulse): 15/14/13/12/11 seconds Cooldown (Return to Megara): None at all ranks Mana Cost (Per Second Drone Is Active): 16/20/24/28/32 mana per second Mana Cost (Pulse/Movement): 40 at all ranks Mana Cost (Return to Megara): None at all ranks
Ability Three: Shoulder Cannon Active - Self
Megara activates her shoulder-mounted lascannon drone, which lasts for 4 seconds. In this time, the cannon will activate whenever Megara uses a basic attack. After a 0.5 second delay, the cannon will fire a thin skillshot that is 600 range long in the direction that Megara just attacked, piercing through enemies and dealing 40/65/90/115/140 (+0.25 Attack Damage, +0.25 Ability Power) magic damage to all enemies hit. The damage is 20% stronger the close they are to Megara, and 20% weaker the further they are away. Does not proc on-hit effects.
Cooldown: 12/11.5/11/10.5/10 seconds after initial activation Mana Cost: 35 mana at all ranks
Ultimate Ability: Skyhook Active - Single Target
Megara targets a drone with a laser grappling hook, and, after a 1 second delay, she will dash to the drone and land directly underneath it. If Megara is hit by any form of hard crowd control, the grapple will fail and Skyhook will do on Cooldown for 50% of it's original value. The range of the Skyhook can target any drone within 700/850/1000 range, and if the drone is moving you will tag along to it's end destination. If the drone moves out of range before Skyhook can be complete, the ability will fail and go on Cooldown for 50% of it's original value.
Megara is slowed by 20% while preparing to Skyhook.
Cooldown: 84/70/56 seconds Mana Cost: 100/75/50 mana
Creator's Note:
Megara was developed around an ability concept, which was her Twin Attack Drones: A pair of flying machines that rough up the land before providing suppressing fire on an area. I decided to follow up on two themes from there, which were Mechanised Weaponry & Offensive Mechanics and Massive Area Denial. What I came up with here was someone who could tactically deny enemies from afar, and could exploit that with long range attacks, but was incredibly vulnerable once fully engaged upon.
I decided that her ultimate had to somehow interact with all the drones that had been placed on the field, and without any escapes in her kit already it seemed like a good place to start. Her ultimate, Skyhook, becomes a completely tactical manoeuvre: You can use it to tag a ride with a scout drone into a fight, or use it to escape one. Making her vulnerable to crowd control while this ultimate was charging seemed like a good way to give her the upper hand in most scenarios, but defenceless against someone who engages hard for you. This also forces you to think ahead and use your cooldowns to your advantage: Do I want to send both my scout and attack drones ahead and leave my escape route cut off? Or do I want to leave my scout behind me so I have a lifeline at my disposal, even if it means completely making the effects of the scout or attack drones useless?
The reason I chose Mid Lane and Bottom Lane: Attack Damage Carry for Megara was simple: It is where her long range area denial can be put to good use. In the bottom lane, Megara has a support to assist her in case things go pear-shaped pre-level 6, and this allows her to make moves without tactically denying herself fully. In the middle lane, Megara can use similar tactics to zone out the enemy mid-laner with fewer consequences. Mid-lane also possesses several avenues of escape should you choose to need it. I would not put Megara top-lane for two reasons. Firstly, being caught out in the top lane by the enemy jungle and top-laner means Megara is forced into an avenue of few options remaining. Secondly, most top-laners possess some form of hard crowd control, which effectively cuts off Megara's avenue of escape if she needs it desperately. Jungle may be viable to an extent; the camp clear would be slow and dangerous, but her gank potential sky-rockets once she gains Skyhook at level 6. This again leaves you with no escape if you need it however, and is a very dangerous position to pull off effectively.
I hope you guys enjoyed reading up on Megara! Most variables here are subject to change, as this is definitely a raw version of her kit layout. I also apologise if some of the wording in the kit did not make sense; it made sense in my head, but putting it onto paper isn't quite as easy :P Hope you were interested and intrigued in Megara; if you would like to see another Marksman concept then feel free to check out this (currently nameless but indepth nonetheless) concept in this link: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/Wk5lyoo8-indepth-marksman-concept-needs-feedback?comment=0001
EDIT: Thanks to FlameHalbrdOkido, I found new inspiration for her passive which fit her kit. Thanks dude!
