Jaine: Will of the Ancients

Jaine is a support concept that revolves around using ancient magic used only by the dragons themselves, manifesting that magic, and allowing her to unleash it to a devastating effect. The magical bonds she creates with this allows her to bring the power of the ancients to bear in the defence of those only she deems worthy of it.


Lore: In a time well before the domination on man, the world was full of magic and chaos. All creatures alike struggled to survive in a world that only wanted them dead. It was a time where survival hanged on the balance between the inhabitants of the world and the raw destructive force of the Dragons. Their power was insurmountable beyond imagining, and their will as indomitable as the scales that coated their entire being. They were truly the hunters of the world; beings to be respected and feared equally.

The dawn of man came at the cost of the greatest war the world had ever seen and forgotten. It went on for decades: the dragons bringing destruction wherever they went and humans resisting through sheer force of numbers and will. Despite the terror of their essence, the dragons began to fall and a new breed of heroes took their place in the world: Dragonslayers. Never before had the world seen men like these, and as the dragons began to fall - the race of man took its throne on the world.

Although the history of the wars that took place centuries ago has been lost to the sands and dusts of time, the art of dragonslaying remained even to this day. The dragons - a shadow of their former selves - went into hiding, fearing and respecting humans just has they had been feared and respected themselves. However, not all humans believed that dragons should be hunted and shunned like the days of old. These men and women, as small as they were, dedicated themselves to the defence and secrecy of the last dragons alive.

Lumira was one such dragon who was protected by such people. It was an uneasy alliance that these few humans and dragons had, but they both understood it was necessary. Jaine had spent most of her life guarding Lumira, and never lost her faith that one day humans and dragons could live alongside each other once more. That faith, carried for generations in her family, inspired Lumira to protect them in kind when the dragonslayers came. Jaine and twelve other guardians stood their ground against over twenty dragonslayers, fighting to protect the ancient beings they had dedicated their lives to.

Although Lumira killed many of the men herself, none of the keepers were spared in their defence. In an act of final resolve, Lumira used her primordial magic to revive the fallen guardians; healing their wounds and bringing to life the dead. By the time Jaine has roused to consciousness, Lumira was already dead. All the keepers knew of the power of dragons and its potential for both destruction and resurrection, but only at the cost to the dragons own spirit. The keepers cremated Lumira, sending her ashes to the skies the dragons had once dominated in their own age.

The guardians, now with no focus or direction, dispersed to find their own ways. Jaine, desperate and defeated, began to wander without focus. Little did she know that the months that followed her resurrection had changed her: The magic that once only a dragon had possessed had passed on to the remaining survivors. Jaine, changed by Lumira, sensed a power growing in the heart of Runeterra. The power was vast, rivaling that of an ancient dragon of old. Setting off towards the source of the magic, and unknowingly the Institute of War, Jaine vowed to find the one with a dragons blood and to protect them - this time, with her life.


Primary Role: Support Secondary Role: Mage

Support in the sense of its capability to assist allies and debuff enemies, similar to other champions with the support role such as Braum, Soraka and Sona. Mage in the sense of its capability to use spells effectively to damage or hinder enemies, similarly to other champions with the mage role such as Ryze, Orianna and Ezreal.

Passive: Spirit Within

[Passive]: Whenever Jaine uses Dragon Breath and Flowing Essence to create a bond with an enemy or an ally, the bond will do 5 (+2.5 per level) (+0.05 Ability Power) damage/healing per half second [10 (+5 per level) (+0.1 Ability Power) per second]. If a target remains bonded for 2.5 seconds consecutively; allies gain 40% movement speed that decays over 1.5 seconds, and enemies are slowed by 40% that decays over 1.5 seconds. This can only occur once every 12 (-0.25 seconds per level).

Only one bond can be active at a time, increasing based on the level of Ancient Peal. Every bond after the maximum limit will end the first bond created. A target can only be bonded once, and further use will only refresh the duration.


First Ability: Dragon Breath

[Passive]: Increases the damage aspect from Spirit Within by 5/10/15/20/25%.

[Active]: Puts a bond on an enemy champion or Ancient Peal for up to 4/4.5/5/5.5/6 seconds. If cast on an Ancient Peal, only the damage aspect will occur.

Cooldown: 8/7/6/5/4 seconds. Mana Cost: 35/40/45/50/55 mana.


Second Ability: Flowing Essence

[Passive]: Increases the healing aspect from Spirit Within by 5/10/15/20/25%.

[Active]: Puts a bond on an allied champion or Ancient Peal for up to 4/4.5/5/5.5/6 seconds. If cast on an Ancient Peal, only the healing aspect will occur.

Cooldown: 8/7/6/5/4 seconds. Mana Cost: 35/40/45/50/55 mana.


Third Ability: Eternal Resonance

[Active]: Jaine lets out a roar in a [550 range] cone that deals 50/80/110/140/170 (+0.4 Ability Power) magic damage to all enemies hit. If an Ancient Peal is struck by the roar, the bell will let out a strong resonance that causes nearby enemies [250 Area of Effect] to be stunned for 1 second and allies to remove all slows affecting them at that time.

Cooldown: 16/14/12/10/8 seconds. Mana Cost: 75/70/65/60/55 mana.


Ultimate Ability: Ancient Peal

[Passive]: Increases the maximum amount of bonds by 1/2/3, to a maximum of 2/3/4. [Passive]: Can hold up to 1/2/3 charges of Ancient Peal at a time, regaining a charge once every 80/65/50 seconds (Is affected by Cooldown Reduction).

[Active]: Summon an ancient bell, like the ones used by the monks who once kept the peace between Humans and Dragons. The bell will lasts for 10 seconds, and cannot be destroyed or dispelled. If Dragon Breath or Flowing Essence is cast upon the bell, the bond will echo out in an aura [450/550/650 range]. Dragon Breath will connect with every enemy within that range of the bell, and Flowing Essence will connect with every ally within that range of the bell. An Ancient Peal can resonate both types of bonds at once, and an enemy/ally can stack the effects of multiple bonds from multiple bells and from Jaine herself.

Cooldown: 5 seconds at all ranks. Mana Cost: 75 mana at all ranks.

Good concept just change the title will of the ancients used to be an item bit could always come back

good concept! lots of info and balanced damage. i really like the ult, it's unique but i think the cooldown should be increased.

Pretty cool. Loving the idea for the ult. I feel we have too many things in the game creating a bond already though. (knights vow, taric, kalista)
