A Permanent 1v1 Gamemode

As Riot continues developing and tweaking its Rotating Game Mode, I think there are some ideas of additional game modes that could arguably deserve permanent availability. Games like URF, Nexus Siege, and One For All are enjoyable every once in a while/in short spurts, but they're also unique, novelty ways of playing the game. Game modes like ARAM, Twisted Treeline 3v3, and Summoner's Rift 5v5 have been designed to be playable over and over and over again without getting boring and without losing their replayability.

Along those lines, I wonder if Riot has considered adding a permanent 1v1 game mode option. The Snowdown Showdown game mode was a lot of fun and worked pretty well, and I think that something like that would have a place as a permanent game mode option. It is already possible to do a 1v1 via custom matches, and I know for a fact that people utilize that option often. However, if you want to play by the "first kiss/first tower/first to 100 cs" win condition, it is clunky to use custom games. Also, while one of the most enjoyable things to do with a 1v1 duel is challenge your friends (or particularly annoying opponents), it would be cool to have a way of finding random people of similar skill levels to duel on a regular basis without having to sit in the custom game lobby.

Not only that, but a new 1v1 game mode would give Riot the opportunity to develop a new map showcasing a new part of the League of Legends world (Ionia, Noxus, Demacia, Piltover, etc.) that have yet to show up as a playable location anywhere in the game. While creating a new map is a huge undertaking, a 1v1 map would be simple and small (smaller even than Howling Abyss).

Because without the limitations provided by lanes and roles you open up much greater probabilities of unfair matchups, which would possibly make balance difficult.
